Needle Assembly and Method
A needle assembly is provided having a needle cannula, a hub, and a pair of opposed radially outwardly extending paddles. The needle cannula has a proximal end and a distal end with a puncture tip. The hub has a proximal end and a distal end. The hub supports the needle cannula at a distal end. A twist fitting connector is provided at the proximal end. The pair of opposed radially outwardly extending paddles each have a digit pad configured on the hub in an anatomically preferential position when the needle is affixed to a syringe with the connector. In use, a user palm-grasps a barrel of the syringe so as to point the puncture tip away from a user when receiving at least one digit on at least one of the digit pads during mating and demating from the syringe. A method is also provided.
Protected needle assembly for a hypodermic needle
There is provided a protected needle assembly. The assembly includes an outer barrel receiving a needle therethrough. The assembly includes an inner barrel resiliently biased to extend about the needle in a protected needle mode. The inner barrel is retractable into the outer barrel in a first instance to deploy the needle. The assembly includes a locking mechanism actuated upon the inner barrel moving towards the protected needle mode once more. The locking mechanism is configured to inhibit further retraction of the inner barrel thereafter.
Pen needle removal device for a drug delivery device
A removal device (121, 221) for removing and disposing of a pen needle (113, 213) connectable to a drug delivery device (111, 211) includes a body (123, 223) having a cavity (141, 241) for receiving the pen needle of the drug delivery device such that a patient end (116, 216) of a needle (115, 215) of the pen needle is covered by the body. An ejector (151, 251) is movably connected to the body (123, 223) for engaging the received pen needle (113, 213) and selectively ejecting the engaged pen needle from the body. The pen needle (113, 213) is securely retained within the removal device (121, 221) without exposing the needle (115, 215) of the pen needle until the pen needle (113, 213) can be properly disposed of, such as in a sharps container, thereby substantially preventing an accidental needle stick.
Reusable needle handling apparatus
A reusable needle handling apparatus is described. The needle handling apparatus is configured for receiving at least a portion of a syringe assembly including at least a needle, a needle cap, and a syringe hub. The needle handling apparatus includes a first clamping mechanism having a plurality of pinch rollers. According to an aspect, the pinch rollers are configured to clamp the needle cap, and to automatically unscrew the needle from the syringe hub, so that the needle is safely and automatically removed from the syringe hub.
PEN NEEDLE MAGAZINE
A pen needle magazine (10) comprising a plurality of compartments (14) each carrying a pen needle (40) with an inner thread (44) and an outer thread (46), and an inner shield (80) including an inner thread (82), the inner shield (80) being disposed in each of the plurality of compartments (14), wherein the inner thread (82) of the inner shield (80) is configured to engage the outer thread (46) of the pen needle (40), and the inner thread (44) and the outer thread (46) of the pen needle (40) are threaded in different directions.
DEVICE FOR HANDLING A SYRINGE AND AUTOMATED DEVICE FOR PREPARING INTRAVENOUS MEDICATION COMPRISING SAID DEVICE FOR HANDLING A SYRINGE
Device for handling a syringe and automated device for preparing intravenous medication comprising said device for handling a syringe
The present invention discloses a device for handling a syringe, said syringe comprising a needle covered by a cap, said device comprising a main body which, in turn, comprises: a cap support comprising a housing for the cap of a needle, said housing being configured to hold said cap during removal and/or insertion of the needle from and/or into the cap by means of a linear movement; a device for joint removal of the cap and needle from the syringe by means of a rotation, comprising a slot defining two parallel faces spaced apart from each other and configured to interfere dimensionally with the cap of the syringe; at least one device for closing the syringe by means of a closed system transfer device (CSTD) or a cap, said device comprising a projection for fixing a support for said CSTD or cap, said support being replaceable and comprising a recess having a shape matching that of said projection and a housing of said CSTD or cap.
The present invention also discloses a support for a CSTD or a cap, a set comprising said device and at least one support for a CSTD or a cap, a system and a method for handling a syringe and two automated devices for preparing intravenous medication.
Safety syringe apparatus
An apparatus for use with a syringe to provide a safety syringe, the apparatus including: a sheath deployable for at least partially covering a needle of the syringe; a sheath actuator for deploying the sheath; and a ratioed mechanism linking the sheath and the sheath actuator and configured such that a magnitude of movement of the sheath is greater than a magnitude of movement of the sheath actuator during deployment of the sheath.
DEVICE FOR ROTATING AN OBJECT
Stabbing accidents are prone to occur to people handling needles, for example when recapping a needle or when trying to remove a needle from a syringe. A device is provided for safe and automatic removal of a needle from a syringe aimed to prevent stabbing accidents. The device is arranged to grab hold of and rotate the needle of a syringe. The needle, after being rotate off the syringe is discarded into the device by releasing the grip on the needle. The device rotates two rotating gears relative to each other to move grippers towards the needle, and rotates the two gears together to rotate the needle relative to the syringe which may be held by the user.
PEN NEEDLE STORAGE
A container (20) for storing pen needles (10) comprises a plurality of cavities (30), each cavity (30) having a closed end (32) and an open end (34), and a plurality of rings (40), each ring (40) including a plurality of arms (42) that is configured to retain the pen needle (10) in a first position and in a second position, wherein the open end (34) is flared outwardly, and the plurality of arms (42) are flared outwardly when the pen needle (10) is in the first position.
SYRINGE DESTRUCTION
An apparatus for destroying syringes-needle assemblies is disclosed, the invention comprising a cradle for holding the syringe and a hub grip for gripping the hub of a needle affixed to the syringe. The apparatus comprises means for destroying the needle for example, by passing a current through it to soften/melt it, whilst at the same time, applying an axial compressive force to blunt and compress the needle. The hub grip is moveable relative to the cradle so that the needle can be pulled, unscrewed or otherwise detached from the syringe. The apparatus is preferably automated, and thus enables the destroyed needle and syringe to be separated, and therefore disposed of in separate waste streams without manual intervention.
