INTRAVENOUS CATHETER LOCK
20220105317 · 2022-04-07 ·

A catheter lock system includes a clamshell housing comprising a body and a cover; one or more interlocking tabs of the body having a hook feature; compatible interlocking tabs of the cover configured to releasably engage with the interlocking tabs of the body; a key with one or more protrusions arranged at two different angles;

one or more lock disc cams including a cam feature; wherein a rotation of the key is operable to cause the interlocking tabs of the body to release from the compatible interlocking tabs of the cover using each of the one or more protrusions of the key.

CATHETER SYSTEM HAVING A GUIDEWIRE SLIDER

A catheter system may include a catheter hub, a catheter tube, a needle carrier, a needle extending distally from the needle carrier and through the catheter tube, a guidewire slider, and a guidewire extending distally from the guidewire slider. The guidewire slider may be configured to couple to the needle carrier in response to sliding of the guidewire slider. The catheter system may include a safety slider configured to slide with the guidewire slider from a proximal position to a distal position. In response to the guidewire slider and the safety slider sliding together from the proximal position to the distal position, the safety slider may be configured to couple to a proximal end of the needle carrier. In response to rotation of an additional slider into a cutout tab of a housing, the guidewire slider may be configured to uncouple from the additional slider.

IV catheter with retractable needle and laterally offset biasing element and needle retraction cavity

An intravenous catheter introducer for medical use having a body, a frontal attachment that is disposed in transverse sliding engagement with a front part of the body, a hub tube assembly that is releasably supported by the frontal attachment, and a retractable catheter insertion needle and needle holder that are biased rearwardly by a spring offset laterally from the needle axis, whereby lateral repositioning of the body relative to the frontal attachment following vascular insertion moves a needle retraction cavity disposed inside the body into substantial coaxial alignment and causes the needle holder to be retracted into the needle retraction cavity.

Flash activated passive shielding needle assembly

A safety needle device includes a housing including a passageway with a needle cannula extending therefrom. A shielding member is movable between a first position in which a puncture tip of the needle cannula is exposed therefrom and a second position in which the puncture tip of the needle cannula is encompassed therein. The shielding member is maintained in the first position against a biasing force which biases the shielding member toward the second position. A fluid and/or a temperature activation material is associated with the shielding member and is adapted to deform upon contact with a fluid medium and/or a certain temperature or temperature range. The fluid medium flowing through the needle cannula causes the fluid activation material to deform, such as through expansion, thereby releasing the shielding member from the first position and allowing a drive member to bias the shielding member toward the second position.

PUNCTURE VISUALIZATION DEVICE AND METHOD

A puncture visualization device can include a guidewire having a proximal section, a distal section, and a distal tip. The device can include a needle having a needle lumen configured to receive the guidewire. The device can include a lock, and the lock can engage with the guidewire. For instance, engagement of the lock with the guidewire can inhibit relative motion between the guidewire and the needle. The device can include an optical sensor, for example located at the distal tip of the guidewire. The optical sensor can be locked into a position, for instance by the lock. In an example, the device provides a distal field of view from a location within the needle and near a distal end of the needle for visualization to facilitate puncturing a target with the distal end of the needle.

INTRAVENOUS DEVICE ASSEMBLY WITH NEEDLE GUARD

An intravenous (IV) device assembly may include a catheter adapter and a needle guard residing within a bore of the catheter adapter. The needle guard may include a needle formed through a guard bore. The guard bore may include a first internal diameter along a first bore portion and a second internal diameter, smaller than the first bore portion, along a second bore portion. A clip may be coupled to the exterior surface of the needle guard. The clip may include a first arm, which may include a first end guard, and a second arm, which may include a second end guard. The clip may be slidable distally along the exterior surface of the needle guard to move from an open configuration to a closed configuration, thereby blocking distal motion of the needle within the needle guard.

METHODS AND DEVICES FOR VASCULAR ACCESS

Valve assemblies having improved ability to selectively control flow of fluids through the catheter and prevent leakage of fluids from the proximal end of a catheter that is positioned within a patient. Such improved catheter valve assemblies also prevent leakage of fluids after repeated insertion and removal of medical instruments through the valve.

A catheter assembly including a catheter hub being connectable to a device for the infusion or withdrawal of fluids; a hollow extension tube connected at its distal end to the catheter hub, the extension tube connectable at its proximal end to a device for infusing fluid into the chamber within the catheter hub; a valve assembly disposed within the chamber of the catheter hub having a first valve member and a second valve member preventing the flow of fluid through the chamber to or from the proximal end of the catheter hub. A needle guard assembly is also provided.

A catheter assembly includes: a catheter having a first lumen; a catheter hub joined to a proximal end of the catheter; a reinforcement needle inserted through the first lumen of the catheter, having a second lumen, and including a distal portion that is blunt; a reinforcement needle hub joined to a proximal end of the reinforcement needle; an inner needle inserted through the second lumen and including a sharp needle tip at a distal end thereof; an inner needle hub joined to a proximal end of the inner needle; a first fixing portion configured to fix the catheter hub and the reinforcement needle hub so as not to be detachable by an operation of pulling the catheter hub and the reinforcement needle hub in an axial direction; and a second fixing portion configured to fix the reinforcement needle hub and the inner needle hub to each other.

LOW PROFILE PASSIVE PROTECTOR FOR AN I.V. CATHETER

A low-profile universal passive protector for an IV catheter includes a connector having a tubular body and a pair of arms pivotally connected thereto. The tubular body defines an end face and the connector includes a cavity extending from the end face. An elongate sheath is snap engageable to the tubular body. A spring is insertable within the connector cavity to extend between at least one of the pair of arms and the elongate sheath when received within the cavity. A slider is moveably coupled to the sheath. The slider includes a flashback chamber formed therein. A hypodermic needle is connected to the slider and is in fluid communication with the flashback chamber. The slider is moveable along the sheath between a first position and a second position, with the hypodermic needle being drawn into the sheath as the slider moves from the first position toward the second position.
