Slitter with adjustable shroud
A slitter for slitting a guide catheter has a handle and a blade assembly coupled to the handle. The blade assembly includes a shroud for receiving an elongated body of a medical device and a slitting blade having an exposed cutting edge to slit the guide catheter. The blade assembly includes a user-deflectable portion coupled to the shroud for causing the shroud to flex in response to deflection of the user-deflectable portion. The handle and the blade assembly may be assembled from piece parts in a manufacturing method.
Slittable catheters and methods for making and using them
Apparatus, systems, and methods are provided for delivering a lead or other instrument into a patient's body using a tubular device including a proximal end, a distal end sized for introduction into a body lumen, and a lumen extending therebetween, thereby defining a longitudinal axis. The tubular device includes a sidewall surrounding the lumen including a reinforcing layer embedded in one or more layers of base material, and a slittable seam in the sidewall extending from the proximal end partially towards the distal end substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. In addition, slitter devices are for slitting, splitting, or opening the slittable seam. Methods are also provided for making catheters or other tubular devices including slittable, e.g., re-welded longitudinal seams that may be preferentially slit, split, or otherwise opened.
EXPANDABLE DILATOR
An expandable dilator for use with an expandable sheath includes a shaft having a tapered distal tip, a body, a proximal end, and a lumen extending longitudinally from the distal tip to the proximal end. The expandable dilator includes an expansion mechanism extending radially outward from the outer surface of the shaft. When the expandable dilator is withdrawn proximally into the expandable sheath, the expansion mechanism engages the distal end of the sheath and expands the sheath as the expansion mechanism moves proximally through the sheath.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FACILITATING THE REPOSITIONING OF IMPLANTED MEDICAL DEVICES
Dislodging an anchor sleeve from an implanted device may be accomplished with a tool that includes a support portion and a sleeve dislodging element, wherein a collar of the support portion engages a distal end of the anchor sleeve while the dislodging element, positioned at a proximal end of the sleeve, is moved toward the collar to dislodge the anchor sleeve. The tool preferably includes a handle member held in sliding engagement with a base member, for example, by a snap-fit, wherein the support portion is part of the handle member, and a distal segment of the base member is terminated by the dislodging element. A tool kit may include a plurality of base members, each one including a different type of dislodging element, from which an operator may select for snap-fitting to a handle member of the kit.
SHEATH DEVICE FOR INSERTING A CATHETER
In a sheath device for inserting a catheter into a patient's body, comprising a first sheath (10, 11, 13, 21, 21, 21, 41, 43) having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein when used as intended the distal end of the first sheath is provided for arrangement in the patient's body and the proximal end of the first sheath is provided for arrangement outside the patient's body, and wherein the first sheath comprises a tubular section (11, 21, 21, 21, 41) and a sheath housing (13, 43), which is disposed at the proximal end of the section and comprises a receiving channel (46) for a catheter, according to the invention the tubular section (11, 21, 21, 21, 41) is detachably held in a clamping element (45, 48, 50, 62, 63, 64) of the sheath housing in a non-positive manner so as to be able to easily shorten the tubular section.
Medical delivery systems and apparatus
A catheter proximal section is preferably formed from a relatively soft part and a relatively rigid part, and includes a proximal terminal end that defines a perimeter of an opening into a lumen of the catheter. The proximal section may further include a feature for interlocking engagement with an accessory tool. An inner surface of each of the relatively soft and rigid parts may be located opposite one another, on either side of the catheter lumen. The relatively soft and rigid parts may be included in a sealing assembly that further includes an attachment feature for removable connection of the assembly to the proximal section catheter.
Sheath device for inserting a catheter
In a sheath device for inserting a catheter into a patient's body, comprising a first sheath having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein when used as intended the distal end of the first sheath is provided for arrangement in the patient's body and the proximal end of the first sheath is provided for arrangement outside the patient's body, and wherein the first sheath comprises a tubular section and a sheath housing, which is disposed at the proximal end of the section and comprises a receiving channel for a catheter, according to the invention the tubular section is detachably held in a clamping element of the sheath housing in a non-positive manner so as to be able to easily shorten the tubular section.
Adaptable Wound Drainage System
Provided are drainage systems that may include a drainage manifold and may be suitable for draining fluid from a tissue site. The drainage manifold may include a plurality of elongate members having a moveable end that may be adapted to configure the drainage manifold to treat a uniquely shaped tissue site. The drainage manifold may be coupled to a drainage tube with a transitional connector to provide a drainage system capable of distributing reduced pressure to the tissue site to enhance the drainage of fluids.
Introducer sheath
An introducer sheath for providing access in a patient's body comprises a tubular body with a distal portion and a proximal portion, the proximal portion being configured to be inserted into the patient's body to allow a medical device to be inserted through the introducer sheath into the patient's body. In order for the introducer sheath to be removable from the patient, it can be separated along its length in a longitudinal direction. The introducer sheath further comprises at least a first handle which is pivotable about a fulcrum. The first handle has a first end portion and a free second end portion so as to form a lever, such that pivoting the handle about the fulcrum causes a contacting portion of the handle to act on a respective counter portion that is operatively connected to the distal portion of the tubular body. This creates a breaking force that causes the distal portion of the tubular body to break.
Systems and methods for a slitter assembly
Systems and methods for slitting a delivery device are described. A slitter assembly for slitting the delivery device in accordance with the present disclosure includes a housing, a lock mechanism coupled to the housing, and a clamshell mechanism coupled to the lock mechanism. The clamshell mechanism defines a channel having an adjustable diameter and sized to receive a device. The slitter assembly also includes a blade configured to slit a tubular shaft of the delivery device.
