Catheter inflatable cuff pressure stabilizer
10286170 · 2019-05-14 · ·

A cuff pressure stabilizer includes a substantially rigid protective housing and a balloon disposed therein. The balloon has a base low pressure of 10 cm H2O when it contains a base low-pressure volume of air. When the balloon contains a first medium-pressure volume of air, the balloon has a first medium pressure of 25 cm H2O, and less than 10% of an outer surface of the balloon touches an inner surface of the housing. When the balloon contains a second medium-pressure volume of air, the balloon has a second medium pressure of 40 cm H2O, and at least 20% of the outer surface of the balloon touches a portion of the inner surface of the housing. The second medium-pressure volume of air equals the base low-pressure volume of air plus a second incremental quantity of air that is between 10 cc and 60 cc. Other embodiments are also described.

Systems and methods for treating acute and chronic heart failure

Systems and methods and devices are provided for arresting or reversing the effects of myocardial remodeling and degeneration after cardiac injury, without the potential drawbacks associated with previously existing systems and methods, by at least partially occluding flow through the superior vena cava over multiple cardiac cycles, and more preferably, by adjusting the interval or degree of occlusion responsive to a sensed level of patient activity. In some embodiments, a controller is provided that actuates a drive mechanism responsive to a sensed level of patient activity to provide at least partial occlusion of the patient's superior vena cava, while a data transfer circuit of the controller provides bi-directional transfer of physiologic data to the patient's smartphone or tablet to permit display and review of such data.

Smart 3-way valve with high and low pressure sensing

Apparatus and methods are provided for managing delivery of fluid into a vessel. A balloon catheter with a 3-way valve is introduced into an occluded vessel. The 3-way valve permits fluid, such as a contrast dye, to be injected into the vessel lumen. The valve is also configured to permit the balloon portion of the catheter to be inflated by means of the same lumen used to inject the contrast dye into the vessel. Bloodstream pressure can also be measured before and after dilation to confirm the procedure was successful. This apparatus and method provides for a quick, safe, and reliable treatment of an occluded vessel, among other things and works with known and later developed systems.

Operating a vessel occlusion catheter

Some systems and methods for operating a vessel occlusion catheter may include a control and inflation device to control the filling of the balloon in such a manner that the vessel wall will not be overstressed while the safe occlusion of the blood vessel is achieved.

ACTUATING MECHANISM FOR FLUID DISPLACEMENT AND PRESSURIZING DEVICES

A fluid displacement and pressurization device which provides both a substantial amount of thread engagement as well as provides for single hand control for all operational manipulations including maintaining a set fill volume, rapid filling and displacement, and pressurization and retention of evacuation positioning during balloon depressurization. The device allows for the use of one hand to not only transition the device from micro-movement control to macro-movement control, but also regarding rotating, pushing or pulling the handle of the plunger.

DILATION DEVICES AND RELATED METHODS

A dilator includes a tube including a proximal end, a distal end, and a central lumen therethrough. The proximal end includes a connector configured to connect to an inflation device. The dilator includes a balloon disposed between the proximal end and the distal end. The balloon is configured to transition between a contracted state and an expanded state, wherein the device is insertable into a body passage of a subject in need thereof.

ADJUSTABLE INSTRUMENT FOR DILATION OF ANATOMICAL PASSAGEWAY

An apparatus includes a body, a shaft assembly, a deflection actuation assembly, and a dilation catheter. The shaft assembly includes a rigid proximal portion and a flexible distal portion. The deflection actuation assembly includes a rotary actuator and a first translatable actuation member at least partially disposed within the first rotary actuator. A second translatable actuation member extends through the shaft assembly and couples the first translatable actuation member with the flexible distal portion of the shaft assembly. The first rotary actuator is rotatable about a longitudinal axis to thereby drive the first and second translatable actuation members longitudinally. The flexible distal portion is configured to deflect away from the longitudinal axis in response to translation of the first and second translatable actuation members longitudinally. The dilation catheter is slidable relative to the shaft assembly and includes an expandable dilator.

ADJUSTABLE INSTRUMENT FOR DILATION OF ANATOMICAL PASSAGEWAY

An apparatus includes an instrument body, a shaft assembly, a dilation catheter, a guidewire, and a proximal deflection actuation assembly. The dilation catheter includes an expandable dilator and is slidable relative to the shaft assembly to thereby position the dilator distally relative to the distal end of the shaft assembly. The proximal deflection actuation assembly is positioned at the proximal end of the shaft assembly and is operable to selectively deflect the length of the shaft assembly relative to the longitudinal axis of the instrument body to thereby deflect the longitudinal axis of the shaft assembly away from the longitudinal axis of the instrument body.
