Ventricular assist device with stabilized impeller
Apparatus and methods are described including a left-ventricular assist device that includes a tube configured to traverse a subject's aortic valve, with a distal portion of the tube within the subject's left ventricle. A frame disposed within the distal portion of the tube defines cells, and a width of each of the cells within a cylindrical portion of the frame is less than 2 mm. An inner lining lines at least some of the cylindrical portion of the frame. An impeller is disposed inside the frame such that a gap between an outer edge of the impeller and the inner lining is less than 1 mm. The impeller is stabilized with respect to the frame, such that, during rotation of the impeller, the gap between the outer edge of the impeller and the inner lining is maintained and is substantially constant. Other applications are also described.
Artificial Valve
The present invention relates to an auxiliary artificial valve for implantation in blood vessel of a mammal patient. The artificial valve is provided with at least a first moving part and a second moving part configured to move between an closed position and an opened position, and a casing comprising at least one hinge, wherein the at least first moving part and second moving part are configured to be movably attached to the casing by means of said at least one hinge. e
Blood-pressure-measurement tube
Apparatus and methods are described including placing, into a subject's body, a blood-pump tube, with a blood pump disposed within the blood-pump tube. At least one blood-pressure-measurement tube, which defines an opening at a distal end thereof, extends to at least an outer surface of the blood-pump tube, such that the opening at the distal end of the blood-pressure-measurement tube is in direct fluid communication with a bloodstream of the subject outside the blood-pump tube. Blood is pumped through the blood-pump tube, using the blood pump. Pressure of the bloodstream of the subject outside the blood-pump tube is measured by measuring pressure of blood within the blood-pressure-measurement tube. Other applications are also described.

Catheter device
The catheter device comprises a motor at the proximal end of the catheter device and a drive shaft, extending from the proximal end section to the distal end section of the catheter device, for driving a rotating element located at the distal end of the catheter device. The catheter device also comprises a hose-like catheter body which encompasses the drive shaft and extends from the proximal end section to the distal end section. At the proximal end of the catheter device, the drive shaft is connected to a motor by a clutch. The clutch is a magnetic clutch with a proximal and a distal magnet unit. The proximal magnet unit is connected to the motor and the distal magnet unit to the drive shaft. The distal magnet unit is mounted fluid-tight in a clutch housing. The proximal end of the catheter body makes a fluid-tight connection with the clutch housing.
Surgical punch
A cutting edge of a punch includes side segments and a central segment disposed between the side segments. When the punch head slides into a hollow blade, the central segment of the cutting edge meets the punch head before the side segments meet the punch head. The central segment starts cutting first, which can help avoid a dog-bone shaped hole when the punch is used on a blood vessel, such as the aorta.

Blood pumping device
A blood pumping device is described having at least a first pump and a first pump actuator for inducing a blood flow in a body's circulatory system. The pump has one upper chamber having an inlet channel and one lower chamber having an outlet channel. The upper and lower chambers are separated by a movable valve plane provided with a one-way valve. The pump actuator induces movement of the valve plane in an upward and downward direction between the upper and lower chambers in response to control signals from a control unit. When the valve plane moves in an upward direction, the valve opens allowing a flow of blood from the upper to the lower chamber. The lower chamber is provided with a bag-like portion forcing said flow of blood to make a turn of between 110° to 150° before leaving through the outlet channel.
Vena-caval sleeve
Apparatus and methods are described for use with a tributary vessel of a subject that supplies a vein of the subject. Blood within the tributary vessel is mechanically isolated into a compartment that is separated from blood within the vein. Blood flow from the tributary vessel to the vein is controlled by pumping blood from the compartment to the vein. Other applications are also described.
Chamber for artificial circulatory assistance and membrane
A novel artificial circulatory assistance chamber for various uses associated with cardiovascular procedures, having a rigid capsule with a base and a dome, with blood inlet connectors and blood outlet connectors, and respective one-way valves. The rigid capsule contains an impermeable membrane that divides the capsule into a blood compartment and an outer compressible compartment that is filled with a volume of gas/liquid.
