Cooperative surgical actions for robot-assisted surgical platforms
Various robotic surgical systems are disclosed. A robotic surgical system comprises: a first robotic arm comprising a first force sensor, a second robotic arm comprising a second force sensor, and a control unit. The control unit comprises a processor and a memory communicatively coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive a first input from the first force sensor, to receive a second input from the second force sensor, and to effect cooperative movement of the first robotic arm and the second robotic arm based on the first input from the first force sensor and the second input from the second force sensor in a load control mode.
NANOPILLAR ELECTRODE DEVICES AND METHODS OF RECORDING ACTION POTENTIALS
This disclosure provide a nanopillar electrode device, comprising a substrate patterned with a plurality of metal pads. The device may further comprise a plurality of nanopillars electrode arrays, wherein each nanopillar electrode array is attached to the substrate above a metal pad and electrically connected to the pad. The device may further comprise and a chamber surrounding the nanopillar electrodes, which can be used for culturing cells of interest for recording action potentials. The nanopillar electrode device may be configured to apply a voltage through the nanopillar electrodes from a voltage source. Nanopillar electroporation may be used to increase the permeability of cell membranes to allow intracellular recording. Also provided are methods of device fabrication, and methods of use.
Methods and apparatus for bilateral renal neuromodulation
Methods and apparatus are provided for bilateral renal neuromodulation, e.g., via a pulsed electric field, via a stimulation electric field, via localized drug delivery, via high frequency ultrasound, via thermal techniques, etc. Such neuromodulation may effectuate irreversible electroporation or electrofusion, necrosis and/or inducement of apoptosis, alteration of gene expression, action potential attenuation or blockade, changes in cytokine up-regulation and other conditions in target neural fibers. In some embodiments, neuromodulation is applied to neural fibers that contribute to renal function. In some embodiments, such neuromodulation is performed in a bilateral fashion. Bilateral renal neuromodulation may provide enhanced therapeutic effect in some patients as compared to renal neuromodulation performed unilaterally, i.e., as compared to renal neuromodulation performed on neural tissue innervating a single kidney.
WEARABLE DEVICE WITH TRAGUS MODULATION SYSTEM
A wearable device combines its existing functions (e.g., a headphone) with non-invasive autonomic modulation using tragus or other external auditory meatus stimulation. The wearable device can output audio to a user, such as music, podcast, etc., and further provide modulation of the vagus nerve via tragus stimulation or other external auditory meatus stimulation to treat various diseases.
Methods of Treating Glioblastoma
The present disclosure provides a method for treating cancer in a patient harboring an EGFR-expressing tumor and/or tumor cell, such as glioblastoma, comprising the combination of (i) applying an AC electric field to a target area, wherein the target area comprises an EGFR-expressing tumor or cancer cell); and (ii) administering an effective amount of depatuxizumab mafodotin.
WEARABLE ITEM FOR INCREASED APPLICATION OF NUTRIENTS
A wearable item is formed of conductive fibers and non-conductive fibers. Encapsulated nutrients are placed on the non-conductive fibers. A voltage is placed on the conductive lines in order to induce an electric field so that the effective absorption rate of the nutrients through the skin of a user is increased.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR LARGE VOLUME TRANSFECTION
Disclosed is a device for applying an electric field to a suspension of cells, comprising at least one chamber which comprises at least one internal space (40) for holding the suspension, the internal space (40) comprising at least two segments (41, 42), wherein each segment (41, 42) comprises at least one electrode (43, 44) and wherein neighboring electrodes (43, 44) are separated from each other by at least one gap (47) which is at least partially filled with an insulating material (46), and wherein the edges of the electrodes (43, 44) facing each other within the internal space (40) are rounded. Rounding the electrodes' edges facing a neighboring electrode results in a significant reduction of field gradients and thus even of the risk of arcing. Also disclosed is a method in which voltage is applied to at least one active electrode (43, 44) while the electrodes (43, 44, 45) or electrode segments next and/or opposite to the active electrode (43, 44) are set to ground potential. Setting neighboring electrodes that surround the active electrode to ground potential results in decreased scattering of the electric field within the internal space so that the electrically active area is locally limited and the field lines are focused near the active electrode and thus control of the process is enhanced.
Methods and Devices for Stimulating an Immune Response Using Nanosecond Pulsed Electric Fields
Nanosecond pulsed electric field (nsPEF) treatments of a tumor are adjusted based on a size and type of the tumor to stimulate an immune response against the tumor and other tumors in the subject. Calreticulin expression on tumor cells can be detected to confirm treatment. An immune response biomarker can be measured, and further nsPEF treatments can be performed if needed to stimulate or further stimulate the immune response. Cancers that have metastasized may be treated by directly treating a tumor that is most accessible. The treatment can be combined with CD47-blocking antibodies, doxorubicin, CTLA-4-blocking antibodies, and/or PD-1-blocking antibodies. Electrical characteristics of nsPEF treatments can be based on the size, type, and/or strength of tumors and/or a quantity of tumors in the subject.
