20210220658 · 2021-07-22 · ·

An external defibrillator system such as a WCD is also capable of providing transthoracic pacing and drug delivery (e.g., pain-reducing drugs and/or a sedatives) to a patient. The drug(s) may be included in the therapy electrode electrolyte and dispensed for defibrillation, cardioversion and/or pacing therapy. Alternatively, the drug(s) may be stored in a separate reservoir and dispensed during pacing therapy. The drug(s) may be dispensed to a patient after a successful defibrillation therapy. The pacing therapy may be delivered a set time-period after the drug(s) were dispensed. A relatively small electric current may be delivered to the area of the patient on which the drug(s) were dispensed to facilitate drug absorption.

Electroporation device and a method for controlling an electroporation device

The present invention provides an electroporation device and a method for controlling an electroporation device for facilitating delivering active substances into skin such as stratum corneum while minimizing discomfort of a user by modulating applied voltage pulses. The electroporation device according to the present invention comprises: a measurement unit being configured to provide multiple outputs of one or more resistance measurement voltage pulses for measuring a resistance of skin of a user at a predetermined interval; and an output unit being configured to provide an output of one or more electroporation voltage pulses to the skin of the user based on the resistance of the skin of the user per each output of the one or more resistance measurement voltage pulses.

Systems and Methods for Electroporation

This document describes methods and materials for improving treatment of hypertension. For example, this document describes methods and devices for electroporation of nerves in the renal area to treat hypertension.

Systems and methods for detecting fault conditions in electroporation therapy

Example systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer program products are disclosed for electroporating cells in a tissue using a set of voltage pulses generated by capacitor charge circuitry based on a voltage supply. An example method includes continuously monitoring a set of characteristics of the voltage supply and the set of voltage pulses; generating a first set of monitor signals based on the set of characteristics; detecting a first fault condition based on the first set of monitor signals; and generating a first crowbar trigger activation signal. The example computer method further includes: detecting a second fault condition based on a second set of monitor signals generated based on the first set of monitor signals; and generating a second crowbar trigger activation signal. Subsequently, the example computer method includes electrically disconnecting the capacitor charge circuitry from electroporation electrode circuitry based on either the first or second crowbar trigger activation signal.

Vacuum-Assisted Electroporation Devices, And Related Systems And Methods

A device for vacuum-assisted in vivo electroporation of tissue includes a housing that defines a chamber and at least one opening into the chamber. A port extends through the housing, is remote from the at least one opening, and is connectable to a vacuum source. The port is configured to communicate vacuum pressure from the vacuum source to the chamber. A plurality of electrodes are positioned within the chamber and are configured to deliver one or more electroporation pulses to a targeted portion of tissue extending through the opening and held in the chamber responsive to the vacuum pressure.

Tissue ablation with irreversible electroporation

A new method for the ablation of undesirable tissue such as cells of a cancerous or non-cancerous tumor is disclosed. It involves the placement of electrodes into or near the vicinity of the undesirable tissue through the application of electrical pulses causing irreversible electroporation of the cells throughout the entire area of the undesirable tissue. The electric pulses irreversibly permeate the cell membranes, thereby invoking cell death. The irreversibly permeabilized cells are left in situ and are removed by the body immune system. The amount of tissue ablation achievable through the use of irreversible electroporation without inducing thermal damage is considerable.

Methods and apparatus for renal neuromodulation

Methods and apparatus are provided for renal neuromodulation using a pulsed electric field to effectuate electroporation or electrofusion. It is expected that renal neuromodulation (e.g., denervation) may, among other things, reduce expansion of an acute myocardial infarction, reduce or prevent the onset of morphological changes that are affiliated with congestive heart failure, and/or be efficacious in the treatment of end stage renal disease. Embodiments of the present invention are configured for percutaneous intravascular delivery of pulsed electric fields to achieve such neuromodulation.
