Compact AED with external electrocardiogram

A compact automated external defibrillator (AED) is a device configured to receive electrocardiogram signals while the AED's electrode pads are in airtight storage. A surface of the device has a first electrical connection and a second electrical connection to a circuit board, each at a separate defined location on the surface. The circuit board receives ECG signals from a patient when the first defined location and the second defined location on the surface of the device body are put in contact with the patient. The circuit board may be configured to sense ECG signals from the patient through a plurality of additional defined locations on the surface of the device.

Systems and methods related to the field of cardiac resuscitation, and in particular to devices for assisting rescuers in performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are described herein. A method for managing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment to a person in need of emergency assistance includes monitoring, with an electronic medical device, a parameter that indicates a quality level of a CPR component being provided to the person by a user; determining, with the electronic medical device, that the parameter indicates that the quality level of CPR being provided is inadequate; and providing, to one or more rescuers of the person, an audible, visual, or tactile indication that a different person should perform the CPR component.

Wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system choosing to consider ECG signals from different channels per QRS complex widths of the ECG signals
11471693 · 2022-10-18 · ·

In embodiments, a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system includes a support structure for wearing by an ambulatory patient. When worn, the support structure maintains electrodes on the patient's body. Different pairs of these electrodes define different channels, and different patient ECG signals can be sensed from the channels. The ECG signals can be analyzed to determine which one is the best to use, for the WCD system to make a shock/no shock decision. The analysis can be according to widths of the QRS complexes, consistency of the QRS complexes, or heart rate agreement statistics.
