The present invention provides a medical electrode comprising a conductive metal base comprising a plate element and a boss formed on the plate element and a conductive support cylinder separate from the conductive metal base. The conductive support cylinder is rotatably mounted to the conductive metal base while remaining in electrical communication with said conductive metal base. The present invention also provides a limb clamp for an ECG device. According to the present invention, it is possible to prevent bending of the cable connecting with the medical electrode, thereby avoiding cable failure.

The invention relates to a support with electrodes (20) and a gel containing active ingredients, for transdermal application of the latter. The support consists of a base layer (10) made of flexible material (non-woven fabric, PET, PVC, etc.), whereas the electrodes are made of a conductive material such as carbon, graphene, germanene or the like, which is impressed onto the support by hot or cold pressing, silk-screening, ink jet or the like. The electrodes can be connected to a power supply unit via a USB connector or the like.

Electropolishing of MP35N wire for fatigue life improvement of an implantable lead

MP35N (35% Co, 35% Ni, 20% Cr, 10% Mo, by weight) wires (solid and clad) are widely used for leads in cardiac rhythm management (CRM) and neurological electrical stimulation devices. Over the typical lifetime of a CRM device, a lead wire is subjected to stress cycling imposed by the heartbeat and is expected to survive 300 million stress cycles, or more. Premature fatigue fracture of a lead is sometimes caused by surface imperfections in the wire that has been coiled into the lead. The imperfections can result in concentration of stresses at a specific location on the wire surface. A vexing type of imperfection is a tiny surface fissure that is commonly referred to as a chevron. Wire drawing processes that are commonly used to form wires for manufacturing an implantable lead inherently produce a distribution of tiny chevrons on the wire surface. According to the present invention, removing chevrons and other surface imperfections using an electropolishing process helps reduce or eliminate premature fatigue failure initiated by such surface imperfection.

In an embodiment, an electrical stimulation system can include one or more of an electrode assembly including one or more electrodes and an electronics subsystem. In some variations, each of the one or more electrodes can include a hydrophilic layer and a conductive layer. In some variations, the electronics subsystem can include one or more of a control module, power module, and a stimulus generator. In some variations, the electrical stimulation can further include one or more of an electrical attachment system, mechanical attachment system, head apparel assembly, flexible housing, and/or any other suitable component. The electrical stimulation system functions to apply electrical stimulation but can additionally or alternatively function to measure/and or record one or more biosignals from a user.

Disclosed are wearable bands, such as rings, for monitoring and diagnosing cardiovascular conditions of a wearer, along with related systems, algorithms, and methods. The disclosed wearable bands can continuously monitor the wearer's cardiovascular status by measuring heart rate and/or other physiological properties of the wearer. Disclosed wearable bands can further comprise at least two EKG electrodes, including a first electrode on the inner surface adapted to detect a signal from the finger and a second electrode on the outer surface adapted to detect a cardiovascular signal from another body part. The wearable bands can be linked wirelessly to a mobile device that the person can interact with. The mobile device can be linked to other distributed system components and healthcare providers, such as to send a message to a predetermined recipient based upon the physiological properties measured by the wearable band.

A shield located within an implantable medical lead may be terminated in various ways at a metal connector. The shield may be terminated by various joints including butt, scarf, lap, or other joints between insulation layers surrounding the lead and an insulation extension. The shield may terminate with a physical and electrical connection to a single metal connector. The shield may terminate with a physical and electrical connection by passing between an overlapping pair of inner and outer metal connectors. The metal connectors may include features such as teeth or threads that penetrate the insulation layers of the lead. The shield may terminate with a physical and electrical connection by exiting a jacket of a lead adjacent to a metal connector and lapping onto the metal connector.
