Selective termination of stimulation to deliver post-stimulation therapeutic effect
11202908 · 2021-12-21 · ·

In some examples, electrical stimulation is delivered to a patient such that selective termination of the stimulation causes a therapeutic effect in the patient after termination of the electrical stimulation to the patient. The electrical stimulation may be insufficient to produce a desired therapeutic effect in the patient during stimulation, but sufficient to induce a post-stimulation desired therapeutic effect following termination of the stimulation. In some examples, the electrical stimulation may be sub-threshold electrical stimulation. In some examples, the desired therapeutic effect may alleviate bladder dysfunction, bowel dysfunction, or other disorders. The stimulation may be selectively terminated in response to one or more therapy trigger events to induce the post-stimulation therapeutic effect.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PULSED ELECTRIC FIELD NEUROMODULATION VIA AN INTRA-TO-EXTRAVASCULAR APPROACH

Methods and apparatus are provided for pulsed electric field neuromodulation via an intra-to-extravascular approach, e.g., to effectuate irreversible electroporation or electrofusion, necrosis and/or inducement of apoptosis, alteration of gene expression, changes in cytokine upregulation and other conditions in target neural fibers. In some embodiments, the ITEV PEF system comprises an intravascular catheter having one or more electrodes configured for intra-to-extravascular placement across a wall of patient's vessel into proximity with target neural fibers. With the electrode(s) passing from an intravascular position to an extravascular position prior to delivery of the PEF, a magnitude of applied voltage or energy delivered via the electrode(s) and necessary to achieve desired neuromodulation may be reduced relative to an intravascular PEF system having one or more electrodes positioned solely intravascularly. The methods and apparatus of the present invention may, for example, be used to modulate one or more target neural fibers that contribute to renal function.

Method and system for adjusting a neurostimulation therapy

The systems and methods described herein generally relate to adjusting a neurostimulation (NS) therapy based on drug pharmacokinetics of a patient. The systems and methods deliver an NS therapy to a portion of electrodes of a lead positioned proximate to neural tissue of interest, which is associated with a target region. The NS therapy is defined by stimulation parameters. The systems and methods determine a trigger event indicative of a drug being administered to a patient. The drug is configured to affect at least one of the neural tissue of interest or the target region. The systems and methods adjust one or more of the stimulation parameters based on the PS profile.

In some examples, a method including determining a chronaxie of evoked threshold motor responses from electrical stimulation delivered to a sacral nerve of a patient; and delivering, based on the determined chronaxie, electrical stimulation therapy, configured to treat a patient condition, to the sacral nerve having a pulse width at or near the identified chronaxie, wherein the delivered electrical stimulation is configured to inhibit contraction of at least one a bladder or bowel of the patient.

POST OPERATIVE IMPLANTATION SITE MONITORING

Techniques for remote monitoring of a patient and corresponding medical device(s) are described. The remote monitoring comprises determining identification data and identifying implantable medical device (IMD) information, initiating an imaging device and determining an imaging program, receiving one or more frames of image data including image(s) of an implantation site, identifying an abnormality at the implantation site, triggering a supplemental image capture mode, receiving one or more supplemental images of the implantation site, and outputting the one or more supplemental images of the implantation site.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERFORMING A DENERVATION PROCEDURE AND DETERMINING THE EFFICACY THEREOF
20230310053 · 2023-10-05 ·

Described herein are systems and methods for performing a denervation procedure and determining an efficacy thereof. Such a system can include an excitation source, a controller, and a catheter with element(s) for delivering first ablation therapy from a first longitudinal location along a biological lumen and delivering second ablation therapy from a second longitudinal location longitudinally spaced apart from the first longitudinal location. A sensing subsystem of the system senses neural activity from a third longitudinal location along the biological lumen, to determine the efficacy of at least one of the first or second ablation therapies.

Neuromodulation device

A neuromodulation apparatus for stimulating neural activity in a renal nerve of a patient is provided, the apparatus comprising a transducer Patient for applying a signal to the renal nerve so as to produce a physiological response. Methods of treating sleep apnoea are also provided, including methods using the neuromodulation apparatus.

Monitoring bladder dysfunction using a probability function

This disclosure describes methods, systems, and devices configured to determine a timing of a future bladder related event of a patient. For example, a system includes processing circuitry configured to identify a timing of a plurality of bladder related events of a patient, determine, based on the timing of the plurality of bladder related events of the patient, a probability to experience a bladder related event function for the patient, the probability to experience a bladder related event function indicating a probability that the patient will experience a bladder related event at an elapsed time after a previous bladder related event, predict, based on the probability to experience a bladder related event function, a timing of a future bladder related event, and control delivery of a therapy to the patient based on the predicted timing of the future bladder related event.

A PROCESS FOR TREATMENT OF INTERNAL ORGAN OEDEMA USING AN ELECTRIC CURRENT DELIVERING ELECTRODE SYSTEM AND SYSTEM THEREFOR
20230149707 · 2023-05-18 ·

A process of treatment of internal organ oedema is using an electric current delivering electrode system comprising electrodes to be positioned at two places on the outer surface of the internal organ and/or in a liquid carrying vessel of the internal organ and delivering electric current to induce electro-osmosis between the electrodes. An electrode assembly system for this treatment by electro-osmosis includes, in addition to the two electrodes, a control unit adapted to control the current flow between the two electrodes.

Embodiments of the invention provide apparatus, systems and methods for stimulating tissue in the urinary tract to initiate or facilitate urination. One embodiment provides an external urinary sphincter stimulation (EUSS) catheter for stimulating the external urinary sphincter (EUS), where the EUSS catheter includes nerve stimulation electrodes (NSES) for delivering current to nerves within or around the EUS in order to relax the EUS prior to urination. Other embodiments provide a system for stimulating the EUS including the EUSS catheter and a controller operatively coupled to the EUSS catheter, where the controller includes a pulse generator for delivering current to the NSES. Other embodiments provide methods for positioning the EUSS catheter in the patient's body including in the EUS using a urethral approach. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for initiating and/or controlling urination for patients who have lost the ability to voluntarily urinate due to neurogenic bladder dysfunction.
