Oral care device with sacrificial electrode
A container, a toothbrush, or a device including at least one sacrificial electrode. In one aspect, the container may include a body adapted to contain an oral care solution and a cap selectively removable from the body. The cap may include a cavity configured to contain a fluid, a first electrode comprising a sacrificial metal, a second electrode spaced from the first electrode, and an electrical connection electrically connecting the first electrode and the second electrode to a power source. Activation of the power source may generate an electric field between the first and second electrodes, thereby causing the sacrificial metal of the first electrode to release ions into the fluid in the cavity of the cap.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING SLEEP DISORDERED BREATHING
Methods and systems for treating sleep disordered breathing by stimulating nerves that innervate the palatoglossus and/or the palatopharyngeus muscle are provided. Such therapy can be used in conjunction with hypoglossal nerve stimulation.
Penetration of Cerebral Spinal Fluid into the Brain Parenchyma Using Temporally Patterned Neuromodulation
Electrical stimulation of specific facial and lingual nerves creates a more sustained pulsatility activity compared to stimulation of other cranial nerves. Pulsatility of arteries has intrinsic time constraints related to the time for vasodilation/constriction and time to return to baseline (TBL) after electrical stimulation which may affect the pulsatility response. Control of temporal patterning and the stimulation waveform maximizes the physiological response to cerebral pulsatility and its resulting effects on cerebral spinal fluid penetration into the brain parenchyma for a multitude of therapeutic uses including clearing misfolded proteins and/or administered pharmacological agents, diluting endogenous neurochemical concentrations within the brain, and reducing non-synaptic coupling.
Needle and introducer used in lead placement for obstructive sleep apnea treatment
A system for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is described. The system may include a device having a size and shape selected to couple externally to a patient near a jaw of the patient. The device may be configured to receive at least one of a needle or an introducer for insertion into a tongue of the patient for lead placement of a lead for OSA treatment, and guide at least a portion of the at least one of the needle or introducer for insertion into the tongue of the patient.
APPARATUS FOR TREATING SUBMUCOSAL TISSUE
A submucosa treating apparatus according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a probe that is capable of approaching mucosa of a treatment field; an electrode that is provided in the probe, and applies an electrical signal to blood vessels of submucosa; and a guide where the probe is movably accommodated, and a guide where the probe is movably accommodated, and guiding a position of the electrode with respect to the mucosa.
Oral mucosal electroporation device and use thereof
The present invention relates to electroporation (EP) devices that are able to generate an electroporation causing electrical field at the mucosal layer, and preferably in a tolerable manner. Further, it includes the generation of a protective immune response, cellular and/or humoral, using the oral EP device along with a genetic construct that encodes an immunogenic sequence.
Electrical discharge irrigator apparatus and method
An electrical discharge irrigation device includes a power source to produce power of a first voltage, a circuit coupled to the power source to convert the power of the first voltage to power of a second voltage where the second voltage is higher than the first voltage, a trigger to activate the circuit, an igniter coupled to the circuit to produce a spike, an electrical charge storage component coupled to the igniter the electrical charge storage component becoming conductive and storing an electrical charge after receiving the spike, and an output tip. The output tip includes an electrode and insulating material as an outer layer.
MOUTHPIECE FOR SKIN TREATMENT AND APPARATUS FOR SKIN TREATMENT USING ELECTRICAL ENERGY
Provided is a monopolar skin treatment apparatus using electrical energy in a high frequency wavelength band in which a retaining ligament, a blood vessel, and a fibrous tissue of a deep part is utilized as an electricity passage to actively prevent the skin from sagging due to the aging. The mouthpiece for skin treatment includes a frame, and a ground electrode unit on the frame. The frame includes a first frame disposed in front, a second frame extending rearward from one end portion of the first frame, and a third frame extending rearward from an opposite end portion of the first frame. The ground electrode unit is integrally formed with the first frame, the second frame, and the third frame while continuously extending.
Apparatus and method for treating a neurological disorder of the auditory system
An apparatus for use in treating a neurological disorder of the auditory system, including a stimulus generation unit and a somatosensory stimulation unit. The stimulus generation unit operable to analyse an audio signal including a first component comprising a broadband or white noise component and a second component including a plurality of complex tone bursts, and generate a plurality of actuation signals representative of at least one of the first or second component of the audio signal and further to spectrally modify the audio signal to generate a binaural modified audio signal for delivery to a subject. The somatosensory stimulation unit includes: an array of stimulators to apply a somatosensory stimulation to the subject with the modified audio signal, and an input for receiving the plurality of actuation signals from the stimulus generation unit and directing individual actuation signals in a predetermined pattern to individual stimulators in the array.
EAR TIPS CAPABLE OF CAPTURING BIOELECTRICAL SIGNALS AND PROVIDING NERVE STIMULATION
A method of fabricating an ear tip including the steps of: providing an ear tip for an earpiece including a body having first and second ends, an inner wall extending between the first and second ends, and an outer wall connected to the inner wall of the body at the first end and tapering away from the inner wall toward the second end; and forming a first electrically conductive element along the outer surface of the outer wall and an inner surface of the inner wall; or forming a first electrically conductive element on an outer surface of the deformable outer wall and a second electrically conductive element connected to the first electrically conductive element, wherein the second electrically conductive element extends along an inner surface of the outer wall and an outer surface of the inner wall.
