DEVICE FOR PACEMAKER LEAD PLACEMENT AND METHODS THEREOF
A device for pacemaker lead placement is disclosed. The device has a device tip having a tissue bite area, ferrule holders, and needle tips. The device also has a lead end rest at the distal end, with a pacemaker lead end situated on the lead end rest, the pacemaker lead end having first and second anchor suture holes. The device further has an anchor suture with ferrules at respective ends of the anchor suture, wherein the ferrules of the anchor suture are passed through the anchor suture holes and into communication with the ferrule holders. The device further has one or more tube guides configured to organize and manage sutures during a minimally invasive surgical procedure.
EPICARDIAL DEFIBRILATION LEAD WITH SIDE HELIX FIXATION AND PLACEMENT THEREOF
A method and system for employing a medical device is disclosed. The medical device includes a housing, a processor disposed within the housing, a connector module, and a medical electrical epicardial lead connected to the processor through the connector module. The epicardial lead is used to sense a cardiac signal from tissue of a patient. The lead comprises an insulative lead body that includes a proximal end and a distal end, at least one conductor disposed in the lead body, and a side helical fixation member, disposed a distance from the distal end, the side helical fixation member. The side helical fixation member comprises a set of windings configured to wrap around the lead body circumference. The side helical fixation member includes a distal tip comprising a sharpened elongated flat free end that is perpendicular to the lead body and angled toward an inside of the set of windings.
Screw-in pericardial leads and systems for delivering screw-in pericardial leads
Disclosed herein is a screw-in lead implantable in the pericardium of a patient heart and a system for delivering such leads to an implantation location. The leads include a helical tip electrode and a curvate body including a defibrillator coil with improved contact between the defibrillator coil and the patient heart. The delivery system includes a delivery catheter and lead receiving sheath disposed within the catheter. A fixation tine is disposed on one of the delivery catheter and the lead receiving sheath such that the delivery system may be anchored into the pericardium during fixation of the screw-in lead. In certain implementations, an implantable sleeve receives the leads to bias the defibrillator coil against the patient heart.
GUIDING IMPLANTATION OF AN ENERGY DELIVERY COMPONENT IN A BODY
A system for guiding implantation of an energy delivery component of a cardiac pacing device at a fixation location within a heart of a patient is provided. During a procedure to implant an energy pulse delivery component, the system receives a patient cardiogram collected during pacing of the energy pulse delivery component while the energy pulse delivery component is positioned at a current location within the heart. The system then determines based on the patient cardiogram the current location of the energy pulse delivery component. The system then outputs an indication of the current location to guide affixing of the energy pulse delivery component at the intended fixation location. This process is repeated until the energy pulse delivery component is at the fixation location. The system also evaluates the effectiveness of pacing at intermediate location to optimize the final location based upon simulated electro-mechanics of the system in near-real time.
Delivery system for cardiac pacing
A delivery device for installing a medical device in a patient comprising a body portion having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end having a chisel shaped tip, a receptacle disposed in the distal end of the body portion for receiving a medical device for implanting in the patient, a handle disposed at the proximal end of the body portion for facilitating advancement of the proximal end of the body portion into the patient.
IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND DELIVERING IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICES
Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device may include an implantable medical device. The implantable medical device may include an implantable pacing member having a housing and a lead input. A lead may be coupled to the lead input. The lead may be designed to extend along a pericardial space, epicardium, or both and engage a heart chamber. A passageway may be defined along a portion of the length of the lead.
Methods and Devices for Securing a Sensor at the Heart
An apparatus for securing a sensor at the heart is formed based on a modified, branched, pacemaker lead to provide a heart anchor lead where two anchors are coupled to a single main lead rather than there being just a single anchor. Thus, the proposed heart anchor lead comprises a single main lead, a sensor included within the main lead, in which the sensor has a distal end and a proximal end, a first anchor coupled to the distal end of the sensor and extending outward from the distal end of the sensor, and a second anchor coupled to the proximal end of the sensor and extending outward from the proximal end of the sensor in a direction that forms an angle with the first anchor. The heart anchor lead can optionally also have a pacemaking function.
Receptacle for pacemaker lead
A lead receptacle having a lumen configured to traverse from an outer side of an outermost intercostal muscle to an inner side of an innermost intercostal muscle of an intercostal space of a patient and to support a lead traversing through the lumen. The lumen being configured to support one or more cardiac leads traversing through the intercostal space.
