Diagnostic circuitry for monitoring charge states of electrodes of a lead system associated with an implantable pulse generator

A system and method for measuring and monitoring charge states of one or more electrodes of an implanted stimulation lead system associated with an IPG. A Kelvin connection scheme operative with a switching circuit is provided for coupling select electrode terminals disposed in a Kelvin connection measurement loop in a switchable manner to sense and reference inputs of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) configured as at least part of diagnostic circuitry for the IPG.

Treatment of Disorders Associated with Inflammation

Stimulation of neural activity in a nerve supplying the spleen, wherein the nerve is adjacent to the splenic artery at a position where the splenic artery is not in direct contact with the pancreas, can modulate pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules levels, thereby reducing inflammation and providing ways of treating disorders, such as disorders associated with inflammation. The invention provides improved ways of reducing inflammation with minimized off-target effects, in particular surgical trauma.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ELECTRO-THERAPY TREATMENT

A system for electro-therapeutically treating a patient includes a stimulatory device electromagnetically coupled with the nervous system of a patient, an electrical power supply, and a control mechanism structured to energize the stimulatory device by way of the electrical power supply at a stimulation frequency. The control mechanism is further structured to control the energizing so as to produce a treatment signal encoded in the energizing and having a treatment signal frequency equal to or less than the stimulation frequency.

Neurostimulator with titration assist

A method of neurostimulation titration. The method includes setting titration parameters for an electrical signal delivered by an implantable medical device, initiating titration with the titration parameters and an aggressiveness profile, performing titration by increasing at least one of a current amplitude, a frequency, a pulse width or a duty cycle of the electrical signal until a threshold is reached or a side effect is detected, pausing the titration while waiting for commands from the patient or caregiver, and resuming the titration in response to receiving authorization from an external device.

Methods and systems for stimulating nerve signals

Systems and methods of generating and applying a synthetic neuromodulatory signal are described. A subject may be put under a particular condition that causes an effect in the subject. While the subject is under the condition, a recording of neurogram signals derived from the condition can be made from the subject. For example, neuronal signals traveling on the vagus nerve of the subject may be monitored and recorded. The neurogram may then be used to create a synthetic neuromodulatory signal that can be administered to a user. When the synthetic neuromodulatory signal is administered to the user, the user may experience the same effect as the subject that had been placed in the condition, even though the user was never put under the same condition.

Nerve stimulation device for current steering

A nerve stimulation system including at least one nerve interface device is disclosed. The device includes a cuff portion having an assembled position in which the cuff portion forms at least part of a passageway for receiving a nerve along a longitudinal axis passing through the passageway; and first and second rings of electrodes mounted on the cuff portion, each ring of electrodes including a plurality of electrodes, and wherein each electrode in the first ring has a corresponding longitudinally-aligned electrode in the second ring so as to form a plurality of pairs of electrodes spaced apart from each other along the longitudinal axis. The system includes a stimulation device in communication with the pairs of electrodes to generate different electrical signals for the pairs of electrodes and a control system that causes the different signals to causes different physiological responses.

Methods and Apparatus for Adjusting Neurostimulation Intensity Using Evoked Responses

A neurostimulation system provides for capture verification and stimulation intensity adjustment to ensure effectiveness of vagus nerve stimulation in modulating one or more target functions in a patient. In various embodiments, stimulation is applied to the vagus nerve, and evoked responses are detected to verify that the stimulation captures the vagus nerve and to adjust one or more stimulation parameters that control the stimulation intensity.

Methods, systems, and devices for pairing vagus nerve stimulation with motor therapy in stroke patients

A method of treating motor deficits in a stroke patient, comprising assessing a patient's motor deficits, determining therapeutic goals for the patient, based on the patient's motor deficits, selecting therapeutic tasks based on the therapeutic goals, performing each of the selected therapeutic tasks repetitively, observing the performance of the therapeutic tasks, initiating the stimulation of the vagus nerve manually at approximately a predetermined moment during the performance of the therapeutic tasks, stimulating the vagus nerve of the patient during the performance of the selected therapeutic tasks, and improving the patient's motor deficits.

Nerve stimulation devices and methods

Systems and methods for treating diseases and disorders in a patient are provided. A device comprises a stimulator comprising an electrode and an energy source. The energy source is configured to generate an electrical impulse and transmit the electrical impulse to the electrode through an outer skin surface to a vagus nerve of the patient. The device further comprises a sensor for detecting a physiological parameter of a patient's heart and a controller coupled to the stimulator and the sensor and configured to activate the stimulator based on the physiological parameter to cause the stimulator to generate the electrical impulse. In some aspects, the electrical impulse is sufficient to modulate the vagus nerve to treat a cardiac arrhythmia of the patient.
