A device for insertion into soft tissue including a micro electrode, a micro light source; a stiffening element having a material dissolvable or degradable in aqueous body fluid or a material swellable in such fluid to form a transparent gel; a coat of a flexible non-conducting polymer material on the stiffening element; a base disposed at the rear end of the device. The flexible coat has a distal opening allowing light emitted from the light source to leave the device upon said collapse or dissolution or swelling. Also disclosed is a therapeutic or diagnostic device formed in the tissue from the insertable device, uses thereof, and a method of disposing the insertable device in soft tissue.

Battery with integrated electronic module

An implantable medical device contains a hermetic battery. The hermetic battery contains a hermetically sealed battery housing defining an internal chamber, an electrochemical cell disposed within the internal chamber, and an electronic module disposed within the internal chamber. The electronic module is electrically conductively connected to the electrochemical cell, and the electronic module is arranged in the electrochemical cell.

Cochlear implant systems and methods

Systems and methods for improved control and performance of cochlear implants are disclosed. In an embodiment, the audio environment is sampled, and a neural network determines suggested filter setting for the cochlear implant. The process is repeated such that, as the user moves through various audio environments having differing noise levels, satisfactory performance of the cochlear implant is maintained for the user.

Antenna for an implantable pulse generator

An antenna for an implantable medical device, the antenna being configured for inductive wireless power transfer and/or near-field magnetic induction communication, the antenna comprising at least one coil or at least one set of coils, each coil comprising several windings. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to an implantable medical device (IMD).

System and method for determination of connected neurostimulation leads

The types of electrode leads that are connected to an implantable medical device are determined based on electrical parameters that are measured at the electrodes that are positioned on the leads. The different types of known electrode leads have different physical electrode arrangements that impact the measured electrical parameters. Properties in the measured electrical parameters that are indicative of the physical arrangements of electrodes of known types of electrode leads are utilized to determine the types of leads that are connected to the implantable medical device.

CARDIAC PACING DEVICE

Provided herein are systems for providing therapy to the heart of a patient. The systems include an implantable device for implantation proximate the heart of the patient. The implantable device includes: an anchoring element for maintaining the position of the implantable device after implantation in the patient, at least one sensing electrode for sensing the electrical activity of the heart, at least three pacing electrodes for delivering electrical energy to the tissue of the heart, and a controller including an algorithm for determining when the patient requires therapy. The systems further include an external device having a transceiver for transmitting energy to the implantable device.

Triple flip, clinical magnet multiple polarity and placement timed sensing to prevent inadvertent actuation of magnet-mode in an active implantable medical device

The present invention changes the magnet-mode of an active implantable medical device (AIMD) such that repeated application of a clinical magnet in a predetermined and deliberate time sequence will induce the AIMD to enter into its designed magnet-mode. In one embodiment, a clinical magnet is applied close to and over the AIMD and removed a specified number of times within a specified timing sequence. In another embodiment, the clinical magnet is applied close to and over the AIMD and flipped a specified number of times within a specified timing sequence. This makes it highly unlikely that the magnet in a portable electronic device, children's toy, and the like can inadvertently and dangerously induce AIMD magnet-mode.
