Analyte monitoring systems and methods

A reagentless whole-blood analyte detection system that is capable of being deployed near a patient has a source capable of emitting a beam of radiation that includes a spectral band. The whole-blood system also has a detector in an optical path of the beam. The whole-blood system also has a housing that is configured to house the source and the detector. The whole-blood system also has a sample element that is situated in the optical path of the beam. The sample element has a sample cell and a sample cell wall that does not eliminate transmittance of the beam of radiation in the spectral band.

Device for Obtaining a Blood Sample

A device for obtaining a biological sample, such as a capillary blood collection device, that has the ability to lance and squeeze the finger, collect the sample, stabilize the sample, and subsequently dispense the sample in a controlled manner is disclosed. The device also simplifies and streamlines the capillary blood collection by eliminating workflow variabilities which are typically associated with low sample quality including hemolysis and micro-clots.

PUNCTURE NEEDLE AND CATHETER ASSEMBLY

A puncture needle for medical use includes: a main body that has a hollow portion and that includes a distal end portion including a blade surface. The blade surface includes: a first blade surface portion that extends so as to incline with respect to a central axis of the main body and that has an inner edge defining a distal-end opening of the hollow portion, and a second blade surface portion formed on a distal side of the blade surface. A blade edge having a needle tip at one end is formed by a ridge line where the first blade surface portion meets the second blade surface portion. The first blade surface portion includes a concave curved surface that is concave and curved in a side view of the main body.

Microbiopsy device

A microbiopsy device for taking biological samples, comprising a body including two or more cutting elements for cutting tissue to form a biological sample; and a chamber inside the body for receiving and retaining the biological sample, the chamber having an opening between the cutting elements, wherein the cutting elements are arranged to cut a section of tissue having a width of less than 1 mm.

DEVICE FOR OBTAINING SMALL, PRECISE VOLUMES OF FLUID FROM ANIMALS

A one-step, single-handed device for obtaining small, precise volumes of fluid from animals is able to quickly and easily draw a fluid sample. The device comprises an extraction component and a collection component that are coupled together and disposed along a grip handle. The user manipulates the device so as to initiate the extraction of the fluid, and then collect the fluid in a component that can quickly and easily be removed from the grip handleallowing the handle to be re-loaded and used again and again. The extraction component may comprise a hypodermic needle and the collection component may comprise a pre-calibrated pipette, where the pipette is positioned directly behind the needle and will thus draw the extracted fluid into a pre-sized chamber within the pipette.

Sample collection device, system and method for extracting and collecting a sample of a fluid of a user

A sample collection device for collecting a blood sample of a patient, the sample collection device including a first partially deformable shell and a second at least partially pierceable shell with a pre-packaged vacuum sealed between the first shell and the second shell. The second shell may additionally hold a sample container and an automatic mechanical cutting mechanism including a rotatable cutting blade and an actuator spring, the actuator spring being actuatable by pressing the first shell, thereby releasing and rotating the cutting blade. By pressing the first shell, the pre-packaged vacuum is released to a collection opening of the second shell such that the vacuum effects a suction effect so that blood coming out of the incision created by the rotatable cutting blade leaks into the sample container.
