DELIVERING AND/OR RECEIVING MATERIAL WITH RESPECT TO A SUBJECT SURFACE
The present invention generally relates to receiving bodily fluid through a device opening. In one aspect, the device includes a flow activator arranged to cause fluid to be released from a subject. The flow activator may be actuated in a deployment direction by a deployment actuator, which may in turn cause fluid release from a subject. The flow activator may also be moved in a retraction direction by a retraction actuator. In one aspect, the device may include a vacuum source that may help facilitate fluid flow into the opening of the device and/or may help facilitate fluid flow from the opening to a storage chamber. In one aspect, an effector may enable fluid communication between the opening and the vacuum source and may do so in response to actuation of the flow activator.
Method and apparatus for a fluid sampling device
A blood analyzer device has a housing with a top section coupled to a bottom section, a driver and a plurality of penetrating members housed in a disposable positionable in the housing. A gripper engages each penetrating member. A manually actuated button advances the disposable to move penetrating members into launch positions. A power is source coupled to the driver. A display is at the housing.
Lancing device
A lancing device includes a housing, a lancing unit capable of reciprocating relative to the housing, an elastic member for causing the lancing unit to reciprocate, and a resistance generator for applying resistance to the lancing unit in motion. The reciprocating motion of the lancing unit includes a puncture section or interval and a retreat section following the puncture section. The puncture section includes a puncture point at which a lancing element of the lancing unit can prick the skin of a human subject, for example. The resistance generator is configured to apply a greater resistance to the lancing unit in the retreat section than in the puncture section.
Methods and apparatus for lancet actuation
A lancet driver is provided wherein the driver exerts a driving force on a lancet during a lancing cycle and is used on a tissue site. The driver comprises of a drive force generator for advancing the lancet along a path into the tissue site, and a manual switch for a user interface input.
Portable medical apparatus including sampling, determining and injecting components
A portable medical apparatus including at least a sampling assembly for providing at least one sample of a fluid in an object, a detector for determining at least one parameter of the fluid, an injector for performing at least one injection of an injection medium, and which are operable independent of each other for improved self-treatment of diseases such as diabetes. The portable medical apparatus has a single common housing for these components and a switch for changing between the sampling mode, the determining mode, and the injection mode. The apparatus also includes an actuator means for individually actuating the other components. The apparatus is an all-in-one device that facilitates the medical treatment process for patients, medical professionals or others.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR FLUID SAMPLE COLLECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
A medical device including a housing, and a diagnostic cartridge removably coupled to the housing, the diagnostic cartridge including a retractable needle mechanism disposed within the diagnostic cartridge, the retractable needle mechanism configured to extract a fluid sample, a fluid collection chamber disposed the retractable needle mechanism, the fluid collection chamber configured to collect the fluid sample extracted by the retractable needle mechanism, and a diagnostic chip disposed within the fluid collection chamber configured to analyze the fluid sample.
CAPILLARY COLLECTOR WITH ROTATABLE CONNECTION
A device for obtaining a blood sample, the device including a holder for receiving a sample source, the holder having an actuation portion and a port, a container engagement portion connected to the holder, and a collection container removably connectable to the container engagement portion, the container defining a collection cavity, wherein the container engagement portion allows the collection container to rotate between a first position in which the collection container is spaced from the port and a second position in which the collection container is in fluid communication with the port.
Delivering and/or receiving fluids
The present invention generally relates to receiving bodily fluid through a device opening. In one aspect, the device includes a flow activator arranged to cause fluid to be released from a subject. A deployment actuator may actuate the flow activator in a deployment direction, which may in turn cause fluid release from a subject. The flow activator may also be moved in a retraction direction by a retraction actuator. In one aspect, the device may include a vacuum source that may help facilitate fluid flow into the opening of the device and/or may help facilitate fluid flow from the opening to a storage chamber. In one aspect, a device actuator may enable fluid communication between the opening and the vacuum source and the flow activator may be actuated after the enablement of fluid communication.
Method and system for providing a single-use safety lancet
A one-time/single use safety lancet system includes a body; a spring coupled to the body; a keeper having a deformable member; and a core for supporting a lancet and having an end coupled to the spring. The core further has a first latch for engaging the deformable member when the lancet system is in an armed state. The deformable member of the keeper is fractured after one use of the lancet system which prevents any subsequent arming of the lancet system. The keeper may be made part of the lancet body. The core may include a second latch, wherein the second latch permanently deforms or fractures the deformable member of the keeper after the single, one-time arming of the safety lancet system.
Permanent magnet lancing device
A lancing device and a method for using the lancing device includes a plunger mechanism having a permanent magnet housed therein. The lancing device includes a movable element having at least one attracting object and at least one repelling object. The attracting object attracts the permanent magnet to move the plunger into a retracted position. The repelling object repels the permanent magnet to move the plunger into a lancing position to pierce the skin of a test subject. The use of the permanent magnet in the plunger mechanism reduces or eliminates multiple punctures due to plunger bounce or oscillation that can occur while a body fluid sample is being drawn.
