A system for occluding a physical anomaly. One embodiment comprises a shape memory material body wherein the shape memory material body fits within the physical anomaly occluding the physical anomaly. The shape memory material body has a primary shape for occluding the physical anomaly and a secondary shape for being positioned in the physical anomaly.

SHAPE MEMORY POLYMER-BASED DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE IN TREATING INTRACORPOREAL DEFECTS
20200237378 · 2020-07-30 ·

A novel shape memory polymer (SMP)-based device for surgical treatment of an intracorporeal defect (e.g., a void or anomaly) such as an intracranial aneurysm or fistula. In at least one non-limiting embodiment, the SMP device is a 3D-printed SMP material sized to specifically fit and thus occlude an intracranial aneurysm (ICA). The SMP device may be delivered to the intracorporeal defect via a catheter having a heating mechanism wherein the SMP device is raised above its glass transition temperature as it is deployed, causing the SMP device to return to its permanent shape after it is deployed into the intracorporeal defect. SMP device delivery systems that include the SMP devices, as well as methods of making and using the devices and systems, are also disclosed.

BLOCKSTENT DEVICE AND METHODS OF USE
20200163784 · 2020-05-28 ·

What is disclosed is a medical device comprising a compressed, cylindrical or oblong, thin-walled, expandable metal structure (a blockstent) and a flexible, elongated device (a delivery catheter) to position the compressed blockstent into the lumen of a blood vessel segment to be treated, and methods of use for occlusion of treated blood vessel segments. A blockstent can be made with ductile metals such as gold, platinum, or silver such that the blockstent will conform to the shape of the lumen of the treated blood vessel segment during expansion and allow for the shape of the blockstent to be permanently changed by the application of an external force. The surface of the blockstent can be configured to promote local thrombus on the external surface of the blockstent and to promote the growth of tissue into the wall of the blockstent in order to occlude the treated blood vessel and fix the blockstent in place. The wall of the blockstent can also be configured to release drugs or pharmacologically active molecules such as those that promote thrombosis, cell proliferation, extracellular matrix deposition to promote this thrombus formation and tissue growth.

BALLSTENT DEVICE AND METHODS OF USE
20200155333 · 2020-05-21 ·

What is disclosed are medical devices comprising a rounded, thin-walled, expandable metal structure (ballstent) and a flexible, elongated delivery device (delivery catheter) and systems and methods of use for treating saccular vascular aneurysms with the medical devices. Ballstents comprised of gold, platinum, or silver that can be compressed, positioned in the lumen of an aneurysm, and expanded to conform to the shape of the aneurysm are disclosed. The external surface of ballstents can be configured to promote local thrombosis and to promote the growth of tissue into and around the wall of the ballstent in order to seal the aneurysm and fix the ballstent in place in the aneurysm. The wall of the ballstent can also be configured to release drugs or pharmacologically active molecules, such as those that promote thrombosis, cell proliferation, extracellular matrix deposition, and tissue growth.

VASO-OCCLUSIVE DEVICE DELIVERY SYSTEM

A vaso-occlusive device delivery assembly includes a pusher assembly having proximal and distal ends, a conductive sacrificial link disposed at the distal end of the pusher assembly, and a vaso-occlusive device secured to the pusher assembly by the sacrificial link. The pusher assembly includes first and second conductors extending between the proximal and distal ends thereof. The sacrificial link is electrically coupled between the first and second conductors, such that the first conductor, sacrificial link and second conductor form an electrical circuit, and, when a disintegration current is applied through the sacrificial link through the first and second conductors, the sacrificial link thermally disintegrates, thereby releasing the attachment member and vaso-occlusive device from the pusher assembly.

"Bowl-of-Spaghetti" Type Intrasacular Aneurysm Occlusion Device
20200100795 · 2020-04-02 · ·

This invention is a bowl-of-spaghetti type intrasacular aneurysm occlusion device including: a catheter; embolic coils; a bowl or cup shaped neck bridge; an opening in the neck bridge through which the coils are inserted into the aneurysm sac; and a closure mechanism which closes the opening after the coils have been inserted into the aneurysm sac. It is a called a bowl-of-spaghetti type device because the neck bridge can look like a bowl and the embolic coils can look like spaghetti noodles in the bowl.

Implant Delivery Device
20200093495 · 2020-03-26 · ·

A system for delivering an implant within a patient is disclosed. The activation of the heater coil causes the degradation, melting or reduction of a component that brings the heater coil into or out of electrical contact with another component, or causes the individual loops of the coil to contact each other, thereby resulting a notable change in resistance in the circuit supplying the heater coil with electricity. A core wire terminates prior to the distal end of the device, allowing for greater flexibility.

EMBOLIC IMPLANT AND METHOD OF USE

A parent artery occlusion (PAO) device which provides for immediate occlusion of a cerebral artery to isolate a defect. The PAO device includes a self-expanding wire-frame prolate structure which is partially covered with an ePTFE membrane.
