Medical implant
A medical having a proximal and a distal end, that is preformed to assume a superimposed structure at an implantation site but can be made to take on a volume-reduced form making it possible to introduce it by means of a micro-catheter and a guide wire arranged at the proximal end, with the implant in its superimposed structure assuming the form of a longitudinally open tube and having a mesh structure of interconnected strings or filaments. The implant has a tapering structure at its proximal end where the strings or filaments converge at a connection point.
EXPANDABLE VASCULAR OCCLUSION DEVICE WITH LEAD FRAMING COIL
An occlusion device that includes an inner embolic element with a proximal section and a distal section, wherein the distal section has a first stiffness and the proximal section has a second stiffness. An expandable mesh is included that is capable of being transformed between a collapsed position and an expanded position, wherein the expandable mesh is disposed over a portion of the proximal section of the inner embolic device and the first stiffness is greater than the second stiffness.
MEDICAL DEVICE FOR INTRODUCING INTO A BODILY HOLLOW VISCUS, MEDICAL SET, AND PRODUCTION METHOD
A medical device for inserting into a hollow organ of the body, said medical device having a compressible and expandable lattice structure made of webs, which are integrally connected to each other by web connectors and which bound closed cells of the lattice structure, wherein the web connectors each have a connector axis extending between two cells which, in a longitudinal direction of the lattice structure, are adjacent to each other. During the transition of the lattice structure from the production state to a compressed state, the web connectors rotate in such a way that an angle between the connector axis and a longitudinal axis of the lattice structure changes, in particular increases, during the transition of the lattice structure from a completely expanded production state to a partially expanded intermediate state.
Stent graft delivery system
A system for treating an aneurysm comprises an elongate flexible shaft and an expandable member. An expandable scaffold is disposed over the expandable member and may be expanded from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration. A double-walled filling structure is disposed over the scaffold and has an outer wall and an inner wall. The filling structure is adapted to be filled with a hardenable fluid filing medium so that the outer wall conforms to an inside surface of the aneurysm and the inner wall forms a substantially tubular lumen to provide a path for blood flow. In the expanded configuration the scaffold engages the inner wall of the filling structure. A tether is releasably coupled with the filling structure and the flexible shaft thereby constraining axial movement of the structures relative to each other.
Blood-vessel bloodstream simulation system, method therefor, and computer software program
This system is a system for analyzing blood flow which imposes a boundary condition relating to the blood flow to three dimensional shape data of a target vascular site of a subject and divides a lumen of the target vascular site into meshes for obtaining state quantities of the blood flow at each mesh position by means of computation, having: a labeling unit, by a computer, for reading out the three dimensional shape data on the lumen of the target vascular site, and labeling a plurality of vascular elements included in the target vascular based on a size of the cross-sectional area of each of the vascular elements; wherein, the computation of the state quantities is carried out by varying a level of mesh detail for each vascular element based on the labeling according to the size of the cross-sectional area.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR REPAIR OF A SELECTED BLOOD VESSEL OR PART THEREOF AND RAPID HEALING OF INJURED INTERNAL BODY CAVITY WALLS
In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a catheter having a catheter body, a light emitter disposed at a distal end of the catheter body, and a fluid conduit coupleable to a source of fluid. The fluid conduit configured to discharge fluid from the source via the conduit and out a distal end of the catheter body. A spacing member is disposed at the distal end of the catheter body and can be moved between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. In the expanded configuration, the spacing member is disposed about the light emitter. The spacing member is at least partially transmissive and/or transflective of light emitted from the light emitter. The apparatus configured to be inserted at least partially into a body lumen, to discharge fluid into the body lumen, and to emit light from the light emitter to illuminate an interior wall of the body lumen.
Photo-Activatable Gel Coated Intracranial Stent and Embolic Coil
An intracranial stent includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a tubular sidewall extending there between and a patch covering at least a portion of the sidewall; wherein the patch is capable of diverting blood flow past the neck of an intracranial aneurysm. The patch may be made of a photon-activatable material or a tightly woven metal material with a density greater than a density of the sidewall itself.
ANEURYSM TREATMENT DEVICE AND METHOD
An intravascular device for treating a cerebral aneurysm, the device comprising an externally controllable expandable member, the expandable member comprising a plurality of wires that define walls of the expandable member; wherein in a relaxed state of the expandable member the walls comprise at least a first wall portion in which openings defined between the wires are small enough to prevent coils positioned within the aneurysm from exiting the aneurysm, the first wall portion comprising an axial length at least as long as a neck of the aneurysm; and at least a second wall portion in which openings defined between the wires are large enough to allow blood flow through; the second wall portion axially aligned relative to the first wall portion. In some embodiments, openings of the first wall portion are small enough to reduce radial blood flow to and/or from the aneurysm.
Methods and devices for treating vascular related disorders
A method of treatment including: selecting tissue to be exposed to radiation for gradual closure of one or more blood vessel within the tissue to be exposed radiation; selecting radiation levels to promote gradual constriction of the one or more vessel; exposing the tissue to be exposed radiation to selected radiation levels.
THIN-FILM MICROMESH MEDICAL DEVICES AND RELATED METHODS
Thin-film mesh for medical devices, including stent and scaffold devices, and related methods are provided. Micropatterned thin-film mesh, such as thin-film Nitinol (TFN) mesh, may be fabricated via sputter deposition on a micropatterned wafer. The thin-film mesh may include slits to be expanded into pores, and the expanded thin-film mesh used as a cover for a stent device. The stent device may include two stent modules that may be implanted at a bifurcated aneurysm such that one module passes through a medial surface of the other module. The thin-film mesh may include pores with complex, fractal, or fractal-like shapes. The thin-film mesh may be used as a scaffold for a scaffold device. The thin-film scaffold may be placed in a solution including structural protein such as fibrin, seeded with cells, and placed in the body to replace or repair tissue.
