Spinal correction tensioning system
10537364 · 2020-01-21 · ·

A vertebral column correction system for correcting a spinal deformity without fusing the joint segments is disclosed. The vertebral column correction system may have first and second vertebral anchors secured to first and second vertebrae. The vertebral column correction system may further comprise one or more intermediate vertebral anchors secured to vertebrae between the first and second vertebrae. A connection member may be disposed within a head portion of the vertebral anchors. At least a portion of the connection member may be a flexible member, such as a flexible cord, configured for tensioning between at least two vertebral anchors for providing a desired amount of tension to apply a correctional force to the spinal column. A spring member, or other tensioning member, may maintain the tension of the connection member.

A rib fixation plate is provided that is can have one or more locking rib hooks that can translate and rotate independently from one another. The one or more locking rib hooks translate and rotate when in an unlocked conformation and are secured from translation and rotation when in a locked conformation. The plate includes a first end and a second end opposite of the first end, the second end having a housing assembly configured to receive a rod. The rod can be secured to a vertebra with a pedicle screw.

Adjustable magnetic devices and methods of using same

A system includes a first pedicle screw, a second pedicle screw, and an adjustable rod having an outer housing coupled to one of the first pedicle screw and the second pedicle screw, the outer housing having a threaded shaft secured to one end thereof extending along an interior portion thereof. The system farther includes a hollow magnetic assembly disposed within the outer housing and having a magnetic element disposed therein, the hollow magnetic assembly having an internal threaded surface engaged with the threaded shaft, the magnetic assembly being coupled to the other of the first pedicle screw and the second pedicle screw, wherein the hollow magnetic assembly rotates in response to an externally applied magnetic field to thereby lengthen or shorten the distance between the first pedicle screw and the second pedicle screw.

Spinal stabilizing and guiding fixation system

A system to stabilize and guide the growth of the spinal column includes an elongated support member having a width and a length and a guiding connector having a bone connecting portion and a guiding portion. The bone connecting portion secures the guiding connector to a vertebrae and the guiding portion has a bearing element with a passageway adapted to receive the elongated support member. The bearing element permits relative sliding movement of the elongated support element in the passageway of the bearing element. The system may further include a bone fixation element has an elongated support member receiving channel, a locking mechanism and a bone anchoring portion. The bone anchoring portion secures the bone fixation element to bone. The locking mechanism secures the elongated support member in the channel. The guiding connector is moveable along the elongated support member to permit and control the growth of the spinal column along a predetermined path.

System And Method For Spinal Correction

Methods of correcting a spinal deformity, including securing a first rod on a first side of a spine, securing an anchor on a second side of a spine, securing a lateral coupling between the rod and the anchor, translating and/or derotating the spine and securing a second rod on a second side of the spine to provide secondary stabilization to the spine.

It is known to use pedicle screws and connectors to treat deformities in a spinal column. However, there are cases when screws must be installed in certain positions relative to each other as otherwise the connector may not fit correctly between them. A spinal anchoring element system is therefore provided, comprising a guide tool 60 for aligning a screw-path forming instrument 90 for use in forming a screw-path in a vertebra 10 for the subsequent installation of a pedicle screw 20, the guide tool comprising a guide tool stem 80 and a screw-path forming instrument receiving section 70, the guide tool stem and the screw-path forming instrument receiving section being immovable relative to one another.
