BONE CEMENT APPLICATOR WITH THREE-WAY VALVE FOR PRESSURE RELIEF
Bone cement applicators and methods apply a bone cement dough in the region of the spine. The applicators and method have at least one tubular cartridge with an internal space, containing starting components of the bone cement, at least one dispensing plunger that is mobile in longitudinal direction on the inside of the at least one cartridge, a hose, an application opening through which the bone cement dough is applicable, a three-way valve being arranged in the hose or on a side of the hose facing the at least one cartridge and in fluid connection with the opening of the at least one cartridge and/or a collecting container arranged on the three-way valve for accommodation of bone cement dough. The three-way valve is appropriately designed and/or arranged in the bone cement applicator such that it, being in a first position, provides a fluid connection between the application opening and the opening of the at least one cartridge and closes a passage to the collecting container and, being in a second position, provides a fluid connection between the application opening and the collecting container and closes a passage to the opening of the at least one cartridge.
SUBCHONDRAL TREATMENT OF JOINT PAIN OF THE SPINE
Methods for altering the natural history of degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis of the spine are proposed. The methods focus on the prevention, or delayed onset or progression of, subchondral defects such as bone marrow edema or bone marrow lesion, and subchondral treatment to prevent the progression of osteoarthritis or degenerative disc disease in the spine and thereby treat pain.

COMPOSITION, METHOD AND DEVICE FOR STABILIZING IMPLANTED HYDRAULIC DEVICES
A method for stabilizing a leaking implanted device capable of being hydraulically adjusted by introducing or withdrawing hydraulic fluid to/from the device, the device having an inner space for enclosing the hydraulic fluid. The method comprises at least one of the steps of introducing at least one of: a solidifying fluid, an initiator adapted to exert influence on a solidifying fluid or the hydraulic fluid, and a mixture of a solidifying fluid and an initiator, into said leaking implanted hydraulically adjustable device for solidifying the solidifying fluid or the hydraulic fluid for permanently defining the volume and/or shape of the device, and repairing a leakage, puncture or rupture of the implanted hydraulically adjustable device by the introduction of a sealing component which forms a layer on the inside of the implanted hydraulically adjustable device preventing further leakage with retained function of the device, such that the repaired implanted hydraulically adjustable device can be hydraulically adjusted by introducing or withdrawing fluid to/from the device.
Method and composition for use in reinforcing bone
The invention provides a method and a kit for administering bone cement to the interior cavity of a bony member to enhance bone strength, stabilizing an existing fracture thus reducing susceptibility of the bone to further fracture and/or collapse. The method and kit may include additional components, such as, bone growth enhancing agents, radiopaque components or the like.
Composition, method and device for stabilizing implanted hydraulic devices
Implanted hydraulic devices can be repaired and/or stabilized using a method wherein a fluid comprising a curable or solidifying component is introduced into said device and cured or solidified in said device. Embodiments of this method, as well as compositions and kits are disclosed.
Granule made of biocompatible metallic material for vertebroplasty
Disclosed is a granule made of biocompatible metallic material, in particular made of titanium or titanium alloys, for vertebroplasty operations. The granule has a spherical shape and includes a central core with a solid structure, also spherical, having an outer surface from which a first diametrical rib and a second diametrical rib also having a solid structure, protrude. The ribs are advantageously arranged according to two diameters orthogonal to each other. The granule also includes a portion having a trabeculated structure which extends between the outer surface of the central core and the outer surface of the granule itself.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING BONE FRACTURES, AND/OR FOR FORTIFYING AND/OR AUGMENTING BONE, INCLUDING THE PROVISION AND USE OF COMPOSITE IMPLANTS
A composite implant comprising an injectable matrix material which is flowable and settable, and at least one reinforcing element for integration with the injectable matrix material, the at least one reinforcing element adding sufficient strength to the injectable matrix material such that when the composite implant is disposed in a cavity in a bone, the composite implant supports the bone.
A method for treating a bone, the method comprising: selecting at least one reinforcing element to be combined with an injectable matrix material so as to together form a composite implant capable of supporting the bone; positioning the at least one reinforcing element in a cavity in the bone; flowing the injectable matrix material into the cavity in the bone so that the injectable matrix material interfaces with the at least one reinforcing element; and transforming the injectable matrix material from a flowable state to a non-flowable state so as to establish a static structure for the composite implant, such that the composite implant supports the adjacent bone.
