INTRAMEDULLARY NAILING SYSTEM OF VARIABLE ANGLE TO TREAT FEMUR FRACTURES
The cephalomedullary nailing system of this invention contributes to solving three main problems: reduce fractures, improve assembly biomechanics to ensure the load axis is favorable as possible for bony fragments and prevent femoral neck collapse as well as offset and limb length loss, hence avoiding the possibility of reduced abductor power. The system is based on specific screw channel geometry and the placement of an additional locking screw, allowing the nail to turn 360 and facilitating nail insertion through the screw.
INTERNAL FIXATOR FOR BONE FRACTURE
A bone fracture internal fixator for repairing a bone fracture of a femoral neck that allows load to be applied to the associated bone parts evenly, and increases the connecting strength between the femoral head and femoral shaft while minimizing the risk of the femoral head being torn apart by the inner connecting member by increasing the diameter of the inner fixing member. The central axial line of the femoral head is offset from the central axial line of the intramedullary nail placed in the medullary cavity of the femoral shaft. In order to bring the inner fixing member such as a lag screw configured to be inserted through the femoral neck close to the central axial line of the femoral neck, the central axial line of the through hole for receiving the inner fixing member is offset from the central axial line of the intramedullary nail.
METHOD FOR PREPARING IMPLANTABLE DEVICE FOR USE
An apparatus including a sterilizable tray having a base and at least one fixture connected to the tray adapted for removably securing an implant insertion device to the tray. The tray can be free of a first wall portion for permitting the proximal end of an implantable device to axially align with the end of the implant insertion device for coupling to the implant insertion device and can be free of a second wall portion for permitting a tool to axially align with the end of the implant insertion device so as to threadedly couple the implant insertion device to the implantable device. Related methods and apparatus are provided.
Orthopedic Locking Screw
The invention relates to an orthopedic locking screw, an orthopedic locking system, and a method for manufacturing an orthopedic locking screw. The orthopedic locking screw may be used for locking an intramedullary nail. The orthopedic locking screw comprises a screw shaft. The screw shaft comprises a recess. The recess extends at least partially along a longitudinal axis of the screw shaft. The recess extends at least partially along a chord of a cross section of the screw shaft. A surface of a circular segment comprising the chord is at least partially provided with a threaded portion.
PHOTODYNAMIC ARTICULAR JOINT IMPLANTS AND METHODS OF USE
Photodynamic devices for replacement of an articular head of a bone are provided. In an embodiment, a photodynamic device includes a photodynamic support member and an articular member attachable, either fixedly or removably, to the photodynamic support member and having a bearing surface. In an embodiment, the articular member includes a recess designed to receive the photodynamic support member. In an embodiment, the photodynamic support member includes an opening into which a shaft of the articular member can be inserted to attach the articular member to the photodynamic support member.

INTERNAL FIXATION DEVICE FOR THE PEDIATRIC CORRECTION OF SEVERE BONE MALFORMATIONS
The invention concerns an inner plate fixator device (1) for the correction of severe bone malformations, of the type comprising an elongated plate (2, 2) in which through holes (3, 4) for receiving bone screws are provided.
The use of this fixator device allows the pediatric correction of severe bone malformations, in particular malformations of the proximal portion of the femur.
A MEDIAL BUTTRESS CONSTRUCT AND A FRACTURE FIXATION DEVICE FOR FEMORAL NECK
A medial buttress construct and a fracture fixation device for femoral neck are disclosed. The medial buttress construct for femoral neck comprises a support part and an attachment fixing part fixedly connected to each other. The support part includes a structure matching an inferior surface of a proximal end of the femoral neck. The attachment fixing part includes structures simultaneously matching a front side surface of a distal end of the femoral neck and a front side surface of an upper end of femoral shaft. The attachment fixing part includes at least one opening for allowing a screw to pass through the structure matching the front side surface of the distal end of the femoral neck, and at least one opening for allowing a screw to pass through the structure matching the front side surface of the upper end of the femoral shaft.
Implantable device with pivotable fastener and self-adjusting set screw
An intramedullary device to repair a bone in a mammalian body and comprising an elongate nail having a stem and a head. The head is provided with a transverse aperture adapted to receive a fastener. An adjustment mechanism is carried by the head for pivoting the fastener from a first angled position relative to the head to a second angled position relative to the head. A set screw is carried by the head. The distal end of the set screw is movable relative to the proximal end of the set screw from a first position for lockably engaging the fastener in the first angled position and a second position for lockably engaging the fastener in the second angled position. A sealing cap and an apparatus having a cap and a set screw are additionally provided.
Hip fixation with load-controlled dynamization
System, including methods and apparatus, for hip fixation with load-controlled dynamization. In exemplary embodiments, the system may comprise a fixation element, such as a screw, configured to be placed into a proximal femur of a subject, with a leading end of the fixation element anchored in a head of the proximal femur. The system also may comprise a stop member configured to be connected (e.g., via a nail or plate) to the proximal femur. The system further may comprise a deformable member configured to be irreversibly deformed by compressive force exerted on at least a portion of the deformable member by the fixation element and the stop member in response to a load applied to the proximal femur by the subject, such that the fixation element and the stop member move relative to one another parallel to a long axis of the fixation element.
