The first plate can include a first body and a first hook. The first body can include a first reduction bore. The first hook can extend from the first body. The first hook can be engageable with a lateral portion of the first sternal portion. The second plate can include a second body and a second hook. The second body can include a second reduction bore. The second hook can extend from the second body. The second hook can be engageable with a lateral portion of the second sternal portion opposite the first hook.

FRACTURE AND NONUNION RIB IMPLANTS

A rib implant system can include a first implant, a second implant, and a reduction member. The first implant can be securable to a first rib portion of a rib. The second implant can be securable to a second rib portion of the rib. The reduction member can be connected to the first implant and the second implant, and the reduction member can be operable to move the second implant and the second rib portion toward the first implant and the first rib portion.

STERNUM FIXATION DEVICE AND METHOD

A system for compressing a plate against a surface of a bone is provided. The system includes a fastener and a plate having a body. The body has a first and second longitudinal side that are substantially parallel to each other. The plate defines first slots proximal to the first longitudinal side, and the plate defines second slots proximal to the second longitudinal side. Each slot of the first slots is situated generally opposite a corresponding slot of the second slots. The body is contoured to lie passively against the bone. Further, each of the first slots is configured to receive a fastener, each of the second slots is configured to receive the fastener after the fastener has been looped around the bone, and pulling on an end of the fastener through a respective slot of the second slots tensions the fastener to compress the plate around the bone.

A system for surgically repairing a rib of a patient is described. The system can include a first rib bracket, one or more fasteners, a driver and a caddy. The first rib bracket can be configured to be fixedly attached to a first side of the rib that faces a thoracic cavity of the patient. The one or more fasteners can be configured to fixedly attach the first rib bracket to the rib. The driver can have an end effector configured to drive the one or more fasteners into the rib. The caddy can be configured to retain the one or more fasteners and deliver these to a position adjacent the rib. The end effector can engage the one or more fasteners to drive the one or more fasteners from the caddy and into the rib to fixedly attach the first rib bracket to the first side of the rib.

An apparatus and technique for infernally securing a plurality of bone segments together. The device incorporates a plate-like structure stabilizing the fracture and integrated fasteners to attach straps circumscribing the bone segments.

ORTHOPAEDIC FIXATION DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD

An implantable fixation device for rejoining opposed portions of a separated bone. The device including two corresponding plates that are configured to be aligned and coupled to a bone, such as a sternum, pre-resection of the bone or prior to cutting/separating the bone. The placement of the corresponding plates provides a gap between the edges of the plates that face one another allowing for and guiding a cutting tool for separating the bone. After the bone has been cut and the desired surgical procedure performed, the plates also assist in realigning and fixation of the bone portions. At least one plate includes a ratchet mechanism that is configured to tighten a locking element and draw the two plates together and into alignment with one another.

Implant positioning devices and fastener guides for implant positioning devices are disclosed for assisting in positioning orthopaedic fixation devices (such as bone plates, etc.). A fastener guide may include a body with slits in a first end of the body that form a guide arm proximal to the first end of the body. The guide arm is configured to releasable hold a fastener in the fastener guide. The fastener guide may also be coupled to a bone plate to facilitate ease of alignment and insertion of the fastener into a fastener apertures of the bone plate.

Stabilizer holder and inserter tool and methods

A pectus bar stabilizer insertion tool can include a first handle, a second handle, a first head, a second head, and a locking shaft. The first handle can include a first distal portion. The second handle can include a second distal portion, and the second handle can be pivotably coupled to the first handle. The first and second handles can be moveable between an open position and a closed position. The first head can be coupled to the first distal portion and can be engageable with a first portion of a stabilizer. The first head can include a driver engageable with a lock of the stabilizer. The second head can be coupled to the second distal portion and can be engageable with a second portion of the stabilizer. The locking shaft can be coupled to the driver and operable to lock and unlock the stabilizer to a pectus bar.

Thoracic plate implants and methods of use

An implant for a human rib can include an elongate body, a plurality of bores, and a placement tool interface. The elongate body can include a first portion including a flat outer face where the elongate body can be curved along a plane perpendicular to the flat outer face. The second portion can extend from the first portion to form a curved outer face. The plurality of bores can extend through the flat outer face of the first portion and into the second portion. The bores can extend partially into the curved outer face of the second portion. The placement tool interface can extend into the body.

Implant positioner and sternal plating system

Implant positioning devices for use with and assisting in positioning orthopaedic fixation devices (such as bone plates, etc.). An implant positioning device may include a body that has a fastener guide with slits in a first end of the fastener guide that form a retaining arm proximal to the first end of the fastener guide. The implant positioning device may also be coupled to a bone plate by a retaining beam positioned within the implant positioning device to facilitate ease of alignment and insertion of the fastener into a fastener apertures of the bone plate.
