A compression screw for applying compression at a bone joint. The compression screw includes an axial screw body extending from a distal end to a proximal end with the distal end including a series of bone engaging threads configured to be self-drilling and self-tapping and the proximal end including a head which defines a radially extending shoulder. At least one proximal rotary cutting structure is defined proximally of the bone engaging threads. The at least one proximal rotary cutting structure is configured to be self-drilling such that a proximal portion of the axial screw body cuts into and advances within a bone of the bone joint as the axial screw body is advanced. A method of inserting the compression screw is also provided.

Facet screw and delivery device

Disclosed is a system for delivering a facet screw assembly to a facet joint. The system includes a facet screw assembly and a delivery device. The distal end of the delivery device includes a facet screw engagement feature, which is keyed to a corresponding delivery device engagement feature. In other embodiments, the system may include a facet screw assembly, a facet access guide, a washer sizer tool removably engaged with the facet access guide, a lateral mass decorticator guide slidably and removably engaged with the washer size tool, a washer implant delivery tool removably engaged with the facet access guide and detachably coupled to the facet screw assembly, and optionally an impact handle detachably coupled to the facet access guide, washer sizer tool, and washer implant delivery tool.

Bone-anchoring device for a pedicle access

A bone anchoring device for anchoring and fixing vertebrae and for insertion into a pedicle canal is disclosed. A fork head having a U-shaped cut-out in a side view for a correction element, a connecting rod with two legs which terminate proximally and form a threaded section which engages with an adjusting means, wherein the legs have a radially outer circumferential area in which at least one retaining groove or other instrument attachment point is formed for gripping the fork head by a handling instrument, and a bone anchoring element with a proximal end facing away therefrom in the axial direction such that a distal direction and a proximal direction are also defined. The bone anchoring element has a spherical head at the proximal area, and the bone anchoring element is polyaxially pivotable with respect to the fork head, and has a pressure piece distally partially surrounds the bone anchoring element at the ball head, and proximally forms a seat for the connecting rod.

Implant and method for ankle syndemosis treatment

An implant includes a curved first plate section having a curvature about a longitudinal axis extending in a longitudinal direction. The first plate section has a first hole and a second hole. The first hole and the second hole are positioned to receive respective bone screws for attaching the implant to a first curved surface of a bone having a syndesmosis. A second plate section extends continuously from the first plate section. The second plate section has at least a third hole that is positioned to be offset from the first hole and the second hole in a direction that is anterior or posterior from the first hole and the second hole in a case where the longitudinal axis is aligned along a superior-inferior direction. The third hole is configured to receive at least one screw or at least one button for holding a suture at a position offset from the first line segment hole and the second hole in the anterior or posterior direction, for reducing the syndesmosis.

Arcuate Fixation Member

Arcuate fixation members with varying configurations and/or features are provided, along with additional components for use therewith in provided intervertebral implants. The arcuate fixation members may be of different lengths, cross sectional geometries, and/or cross sectoinal areas. Applications of intervertebral implants utilizing arcuate fixation members are particularly suitable when a linear line-of-approach for delivering fixation members is undesirable.

A woven retention device that is configured to receive a fastener in a bone hole can be configured to promote bone ingrowth and impede biofilm formation. The woven retention device can be made of woven filaments that outline apertures of varying sizes and shapes and can serve as an interface between the fastener and the bone material. In a first relaxed state, the interwoven filaments can outline apertures of varying sizes and shapes within a predetermined range and in a second constricted state inside the bone hole with the fastener the interwoven filaments can outline apertures of decreased area that still fall within the predetermined range. The woven retention device can be configured to allow for optimal bone growth while at the same time minimizing the likelihood that biofilm forms thereon.

A bone fixation device includes (a) a threaded shaft extending from a proximal end to a distal end; (b) a head located at the proximal end of the shaft; (c) a connector threadably engaging the threaded shaft and movable therealong; and (d) an extension member movable between an insertion configuration for insertion through an opening in a cortex of a bone to a locked configuration when pressed against an inner surface of the cortex. The profile of the wing in the locked configuration in the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft is increased relative to the insertion configuration to distribute forces transmitted between the bone fixation apparatus and the bone over an increased area of the cortex.
