Bone stabilizing implants and methods of placement across SI joints
Threaded sacro-iliac joint stabilization (e.g., fusion, fixation) implants and methods of implantation and manufacture. Some implants include a threaded distal region, an optionally threaded central region, and an optionally threaded proximal region. The distal, central, and proximal regions have lengths such that when the implant is laterally implanted across a SI joint, the distal region can be positioned in a sacrum, the central region can be positioned across an SI-joint, and the proximal region can be positioned in an ilium.
Suture-locking washer for use with a bone anchor, and method for supporting the thumb of a patient after basal joint arthroplasty, and other novel orthopedic apparatus and other novel orthopedic procedures
The invention provides surgical methods, devices, apparatus, and systems for supporting the thumb of a patient after basal joint arthroplasty. The embodiments of the invention comprise at least one index metacarpal anchor, at least one thumb metacarpal anchor, at least one sling for positioning the thumb metacarpal anchor relative to the index metacarpal anchor, and at least one anchor washer for tightening and securing the sling(s) without the need to tie the suture(s) components of the sling(s) into knots. Index and thumb metacarpal anchors comprise at least one bone-engaging element for engaging the respective metacarpal. The anchor washer may incorporate one or more sling-engagement mechanisms. Increasing the number of sling-engagement mechanisms associated with the anchor washer increases the surface area of the sling(s) and provides multiple sling elements to provide redundancy and increase the pull force of the sling(s) attachment(s) used to affix the thumb and index metacarpal anchors into a position relative to each other.
Compression nut and a system for treating a bone
A compression nut for treating a bone includes a head and a body extending longitudinally from the head to a free end. The body includes a first portion including an exterior surface tapering from the head toward a second portion. An exterior threading extends along an exterior surface of both the first portion and the second portion of the body. The nut also includes a channel extending longitudinally through the body. The channel includes an interior threaded extending along an interior surface of the channel configured to threadedly engage a portion of a locking screw therein.
Length adjustable modular screw system
A length adjustable modular screw includes a neck assembly and a shank. The neck assembly has proximal and distal ends and includes an expander component and a collet component that are slidably engagable by insertion of the expander component in a through channel of the collet component along a common axis. The length adjustable modular screw also includes a shank suitable for insertion and retention within a bone, the shank including a threaded portion between proximal and distal ends and a socket adapted to coaxially receive at least a portion of the distal end of the neck assembly. The length adjustable modular screw has a length that is selected by splaying at least a portion of the distal end of the engaged expander and collet components of the neck assembly within the socket of the shank.
K-wire implants for fractures
A variety of K-wires with imbedded plates are disclosed that allow for the plate in K-wire to be secured to the bone after insertion. Further, a donut shaped washer for capturing and securing the K-wire is disclosed. Also, a screw with a channel is disclosed that has a head shaped to capture and secure the K-wire. Finally, embodiments of a slotted washer are disclosed that captures and secures the K-wire.
Locking-cap module and connector
A locking-cap module may include a locking-cap having a first connecting flange and a second connecting flange opposite the first connecting flange extending from a side surface of the locking-cap. The locking-cap may further include a first retaining rail and a second retaining rail opposite the first retaining rail. The locking-cap module may further include a set screw configured to engage with corresponding threads of the locking-cap. In some embodiments, the first connecting flange and second connecting flange are configured to engage with a connector such that the top surface of the locking-cap is flush with a top surface of the connector in an engaged position. In some embodiments, the set screw is initially coupled to the locking-cap by a pre-loaded connection. In some embodiments, a surgical tool is provided for rotating the locking-cap module into the engaged position.
FIXATION ASSEMBLIES FOR MEDICAL IMPLANTS
Systems, devices and methods are provided for implanting medical devices into patients. The systems, devices and methods are particularly useful for orthopedic implants, such as spinal implants that facilitate fusion of bone segments. A fixation assembly for an implant comprises a screw having a head and a shaft, and a washer having at least one outer surface with one or more frictional elements for engaging a surface of the implant. The shaft includes one or more projections that cooperate with the washer to prevent the washer from sliding back down the screw, while allowing for easy application of the washer to ensure optimal placement and desired contact with the screw head. The washer and/or the screw head may also include interlocking cams that create a wedge effect that inhibits the screw from backing out or loosening from a hole in bone or other tissue.
Implants and techniques for tissue fixation and fusion
A tissue fixation implant that includes leading fixation and trailing fixation members, each fixation member having a proximal head and an elongate shank with a distal tip, and each fixation member adapted to at least partially contact the other fixation member at one or more points along their respective lengths. The tissue fixation implant includes a proximal inter-engagement feature for fixedly engaging each of the two fixation members relative to one another when engaged within tissue, including bone tissue, soft tissue, and combinations of these, and has an interior chamber suitable for receiving osteogenic material to enhance new bone growth and fusion of the fixation implant within bone.
Bone Implant Having Tether Band
Devices and methods useful in surgical processes that require structural attachment to bone such as spinal vertebrae. More specifically, an improved bone implant having a band there through for the purpose of correcting and/or preventing curvature of the spine.
