PROSTHESIS FOR HIP REPLACEMENT WITH POLYETHYLENE HEAD AND ANTI-ROTATIONAL INTRA-PROSTHETIC ASSEMBLY
This invention corresponds to a prosthesis for total or hip resurfacing replacement, which comprises a prosthetic femoral head made of highly cross-linked polyethylene, with a diameter ranging from 38 mm to 64 mm, to articulate with a cup or acetabular component made of metal. When the invention applies to total hip replacement, the polyethylene head includes a metal core, which contains inside the female counterpart (14) to mate with the male counterpart (13) of a Morse taper, located at the upper end of the femoral component. The use of this type of head for total hip replacement, articulated with an ultra-polished acetabular cup, reduces the risk of dislocation, transmits less angular and torque forces to the Morse taper than large metal heads, and avoids the problems related to the metal-metal bearing or with the use of large metal heads with thin polyethylene. When the invention relates to hip resurfacing replacement, the highly cross-linked polyethylene femoral head has a lower polyethylene extension or stem with or without internal metal reinforcement (151) or a metal stem integrated into a metal-back (152). Using these types of heads for hip resurfacing replacement heads eliminates the problems associated with metal-on-metal resurfacing replacements.
FEMORAL HEAD ARTHROPLASTY SYSTEM
A femoral head arthroplasty system can comprise a femoral prosthesis comprising a mounting plate having a first side and an opposed second side. An adapter can extend from the second side of the mounting plate. An implant body can extend from the first side of the mounting plate. The implant body can extend from the mounting plate by a distance no greater than 90 mm. The femoral head arthroplasty system can further comprise a femoral head replacement having a generally spherical surface and comprising a recess that is shaped to complementarily receive the adapter of the femoral prosthesis.
Device for sensing implant location and impingement
Embodiments of a system and method for assessing hip arthroplasty component movement are generally described herein. A method may include receiving data from a sensor embedded in a femoral head component, the femoral head component configured to fit in an acetabular component, determining information about a magnetic field from the data, and outputting an indication of an orientation, coverage, or a force of the femoral head component relative to the acetabular component.
PROXIMALLY FITTING FEMORAL COMPONENT WITH ADJUNCTIVE SCREW FIXATION
The proximally fitting femoral component with adjunctive fixation screws replaces a natural femoral head and proximal femur of a patient during a partial or total hip replacement. The femoral component includes an intramedullary stem having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a neck extending from the proximal portion, and a ball removably attached to a tip end of the neck, the ball forming a ball and socket joint with the acetabular cup of a hip prosthesis. Fixation screws may be installed in the proximal portion of the stem for added rotational and axial stability when necessary. An alignment device is removably attachable to the femoral component for aligning screw holes in cortical bone of the femur with holes or bores in the proximal portion of the stem. The fixation screws may extend in an anterior posterior or medial-lateral plane.
Device and method for producing spacers
The invention relates to a device for producing a spacer having a stem mold (1) which has an inner space (2), wherein the inner space (2) is accessible via a proximal opening (3) and wherein the stem mold (1) has a proximal wall (4) which peripherally delimits the proximal opening (3) of the stem mold (1), a head mold (5) which has in the interior thereof a hollow space (6), wherein the hollow space (6) has a spherical surface-shaped inner surface (7) and is accessible via a distal opening (8), wherein the head mold (5) has a distal wall (9) which peripherally delimits the distal opening (8) of the head mold (5), a metal core (10) which has a stem part (12), a head part (14) and a flange (16), wherein the flange (16) projects out from the metal core (10), is arranged between the stem part (12) and the head part (14) and has a proximal surface (18) and a distal surface (20), wherein the stem mold (1) and the stem part (12) are shaped such that the stem part (12) is arranged in the inner space (2), when the proximal wall (4) is resting against the distal surface (20), and wherein the head mold (5) and the head part (14) are shaped such that the head part (14) is arranged in the hollow space (6), when the distal wall (9) is resting against the proximal surface (18). The invention also relates to a set with such a device and to a method for producing spacers with such a device.
Prosthetic implant support structure
A prosthetic system that includes a prosthetic implant acrd a support structure secured to an inner surface of a cavity of a bone is disclosed. The support structure may comprise a pair of partially hemispherical components arranged in spaced apart relationship thereby defining a channel between the pair of components.
Hipbone prosthesis
The present disclosure provides a hipbone prosthesis, comprising: a prosthesis main body (10), the prosthesis main body (10) being of an arched structure, the prosthesis main body including a first end portion (11) and a second end portion, and the first end portion (11) being contacted and matched with a sacrum (1); and an acetabular cup (20) and a connecting device (30), the acetabular cup (20) being connected with the second end portion in a position adjustable manner via the connecting device (30). According to the technical solutions of the present disclosure, the problems of unreliable supporting and easy fatigue break of a screw-rod system in the related technology are effectively solved.
