The first portion is adapted to pass through a hole, in a bone of the patient, the hole having a hole cross-section area. The first portion cross-section area, is adapted to be smaller than said hole cross-section area. The mechanical element have a functional status, ready to deliver said action inside said body, when held by the holding member inside the body of the patient. The mechanical element is adapted to have a mechanical element cross-sectional area substantially perpendicular to the length axis of the elongated member, substantially larger than the first portion cross-sectional area and adapted to be unable to pass through the hole, when the mechanical element is in the functional status.
Magnetically Stabilized Total Hip Replacement Prosthesis
A total hip replacement prosthesis that comprises an acetabular component and a femoral component. The acetabular component has a full or partial hemispherical shape, and comprises a shell and one or more magnets. The femoral component comprises a stem portion comprising a proximal end and a distal end, a neck portion comprising a tapered end and a base end that is joined to the proximal end of the stem portion, and a spherical head that is affixed to the tapered end of the neck portion and comprises one or more magnets. The acetabular component is configured to receive all or a portion of the spherical head of the femoral component. Further, the one or more magnets of the acetabular component and the one or more magnets of the spherical head of the femoral component are oriented to generate an attractive force therebetween.
Femoral Head Arthroplasty System
A femoral head arthroplasty system can comprise a femoral prosthesis comprising a mounting plate having a first side and an opposed second side. An adapter can extend from the second side of the mounting plate. An implant body can extend from the first side of the mounting plate. The implant body can extend from the mounting plate by a distance no greater than 90 mm. The femoral head arthroplasty system can further comprise a femoral head replacement having a generally spherical surface and comprising a recess that is shaped to complementarily receive the adapter of the femoral prosthesis.
HIP JOINT DEVICE AND METHOD
A method for fixating an artificial convex caput femur surface to the pelvic bone of a patient, the method comprising the steps of: exposing the acetabulum surface, creating a hole or recess in the pelvic bone from the acetabulum side of the pelvic bone, providing the artificial convex caput femur, comprising an elongated member to the hip joint, inserting said elongated member in said hole, and performing an action on the acetabulum side of the pelvic bone such that the elongated member is structurally changed on the abdominal side of the pelvic bone or inside the pelvic bone.
Systems and methods for manufacturing orthopedic prostheses
An orthopedic prosthesis mold, comprising a first housing including a first cavity therein shaped to form a portion of an orthopedic prosthesis; a second housing coupled to the first housing, the second housing including a second cavity therein shaped to form a portion of an orthopedic prosthesis, wherein the first and second housings are constructed from a material having a first hardness; a first shell element configured to receive at least a portion of the first housing therein; a second shell element configured to receive at least a portion of the first housing therein, wherein the first and second shell elements are constructed from a material having a second hardness greater than the first hardness; and a connection element releasably engageable to the first and second shell elements to prevent separation of the first shell element from the second shell element.
Hip joint instrument and method
A method of treating a hip joint of a human patient using a pelvic drill comprising a driving member, a bone contacting and an operating device for operating said driving member. The method comprise the steps of cutting the skin of the human patient, dissecting an area of the pelvic bone on the opposite side from the acetabulum, creating a hole in said dissected area using said pelvic drill, said hole passing through the pelvic bone and into the hip joint of the human patient, and providing at least one hip joint surface to the hip joint, through said hole in the pelvic bone of the human patient. In one embodiment the method includes inserting a needle or tube like instrument into the patient's body for filling a part of the patient's body with gas and thereby expanding a cavity within the body.
Minimally invasive hip joint and joint replacing method
A minimally invasive hip joint and a joint replacing method are provided. The minimally invasive hip joint includes a threaded rod and a joint body including a plurality of elastic sheets, with their top ends being all disposed at a top end position of the threaded rod, and bottom ends being all movably sleeved on the threaded rod and dispersedly distributed along the circumferential direction of the threaded rod; and the threaded rod is threadedly engaged with a locking component located at the below position of the elastic sheets. The joint replacing method comprises replacing a damaged or undamaged femoral head on a femur with the aforementioned minimally invasive hip joint. When replacing a damaged or undamaged femoral head with the minimally invasive hip joint, it is only necessary to drill at the outer side of the trochanter major and rotate the locking component.
Artificial hip joint stem and stem providing method
An artificial hip joint stem is used to replace the damaged femoral head or acetabulum and includes a stem body having a head fixing part, which fixes a head, and an operating space horizontally opened at the upper side thereof. A head insertion hole connects to the operating space. A screw part is inserted into the head insertion hole. An operation converting part is inserted into the operating space to vertically move by the screw part when the operation converting part is connected to the screw part. A fixing bracket is inserted into the operating space such that the screw part is fixed to rotate without changing the depth thereof. A variable operating part is inserted into a supporting surface of the stem body to adjust a horizontal width by means of the operation converting part. A movable pin fixes the variable operating part to the operation converting part.
