SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD

An interbody implant includes an implant body extending between an anterior surface and a posterior surface. The implant body includes a first vertebral engaging surface and a second vertebral engaging surface. At least one of the vertebral engaging surfaces defines a cavity configured for disposal of bone growth detectable via medical imaging. Systems, spinal constructs, surgical instruments and methods are disclosed.

Systems, methods, and devices are disclosed for surgical systems comprising an applicator having a first shaft, an implant having a first member pivotably and detachably coupled to the first shaft, and a second member for converting rotational motion of the implant to a translational offset, and at least one of a sensor for determining the offset or an indicator for indicating the offset, provided that the indicator is not a protrusion located at an end of the applicator. A controller may be provided, the controller being configured to receive offset data from the sensor, determine an angle of the implant in a patient using dimensions of the implant and the offset, and display a current position of the implant relative to patient anatomy. The applicator may have a second shaft slidably disposed on the first shaft along an axis defined by a longitudinal axis of the applicator.

Delivery System for Articular Surface Implant

A implant delivery system for securing an implant to an anchor. The implant delivery system includes a driver including a shaft, a biasing body having a first end region configured to engage said driver and a second end region configured to engage a portion of an implant, and a suture extending between the anchor and the shaft of the driver. The driver may be rotated to reduce the length of the suture between the driver and the anchor and generate a biasing force urging the implant into engagement with the anchor. The biasing force is substantially not transmitted to the bone.

Implant Device(s) Including Tapered Protrusions and Method(s) for Inserting the Same into Bone

An example implant device includes a base having a surface that mates with bone, and a plurality of tapered protrusions positioned on the base and extending from the surface of the base that mates with bone. A surface of the plurality of tapered protrusions includes a textured surface to increase area for bone growth. An example method for inserting the implant device into bone includes forcing the plurality of tapered protrusions of the implant device into the bone, and securing the implant device in place without cement due to the plurality of tapered protrusions cutting into the bone for fixation of the implant device.

VERTEBRAL CAGE ASSEMBLY

Vertebral cage assembly techniques are disclosed. In some embodiments a vertebral cage assembly may include a front wall that includes a first opening, a top wall that includes at least one top growth opening, and a bottom wall that includes at least one bottom growth opening. The vertebral cage assembly may be expandable in a lateral direction.

Bone graft delivery devices, systems and kits

A bone graft delivery kit includes a hollow tube having a proximal end and a distal end. The hollow tube is configured to convey graft material to a graft receiving area in a patient. The hollow tube can be connected to an implant. The kit further includes a plunger to facilitate moving the graft material through the hollow tube.

INSERTER WITH IMPACT AND ROTATIONAL DRIVE ADVANCEMENT AND IMPLANT HOLDER WITH IMPLANT AUTO RELEASE

An instrument with an implant holder disposed between a pair of tongs is provided. The implant holder may include a sleeve mechanically coupled to a distal end of a drive shaft and a pair of arms pivotably disposed within the sleeve. Movement of the sleeve in the distal direction pivots the pair of arms towards each other to grip the implant and movement of the sleeve in the proximal direction pivots the arms away from each other to automatically release the implant from the implant holder. The instrument may also include a dual mode drive shaft advancement mechanism that allows the implant holder to be advanced via an impact on the drive shaft from a tool such as a hammer or by rotation of the drive shaft.

A joint spacer has first and second endplates, with each having a bone engaging surface, and at least two cams with an inclined cam surface positioned on an opposite side. First and second slides, each having ramps with an inclined surface are engaged with the cams of the endplate. The first slide has an angled portion at an end, and the second slide has a hinge portion. A threaded shaft has a hinge portion connected to the slide hinge portion, connecting the shaft to the slide, enabling the shaft to pivot. A nut is threaded to the shaft, and can contact and interfere with the angled portion of the first slide to drive the first slide with respect to the second slide. This results in engagement of the cams and ramps to drive the endplates apart to increase the spacer height.

Prosthetic inserter

A prosthetic inserter includes an inserter head having at least first and second bosses, at least one of the bosses movable from a first position to a second position, that couple the inserter to a femoral provisional component via a pair of corresponding apertures, such as drill holes, within the articulating surfaces of a selected one of a series of femoral provisional components. Each provisional component of the series is capable of having different aperture distances measured between a respective pair of apertures. The bosses of the inserter are biased into an engagement position in which the inserter can be secured to a femoral provisional component to eliminate the need for an external engagement force to be supplied to the inserter.

Intervertebral implant and insertion device therefor

An intervertebral implant includes a body with a first face, a second face connected to the first face, and an axis of rotation. The body defines a hollow space for connecting to an insertion device, the hollow space being accessible through an opening formed between the first and second faces. The opening is elongate and extends around the axis of rotation to facilitate pivoting of the implant relative to the insertion device about the axis of rotation to a first angular position and a second angular position. The implant further includes a first abutment surface that engages the insertion device in a form-fit manner at the first angular position, and a second abutment surface that engages the insertion device in a form-fit manner at the second angular position. The opening can also engage the insertion device to hold the implant at at least one additional angular position.
