A system and method for donning and labeling a body cast provides a protective body cast that is labeled. The system and method provides a protective body cast that forms padded protection around the body of a bedridden patient; and especially around the hip, buttock, and lower extremity pressure points. The body cast is composed of a nanomaterial and serves as an envelope for an inner lining of a softer material such as a composite foam rubber. The body cast is sectioned into a multi-layered enclosing cloth support wrap that is fabricated from a nanomaterial, an inner surface having padding, and at least one auxiliary padding that detachably attaches to the body cast for additional padding. Labels detachably attach to the lower portion of the support wrap for indicating information pertinent to the patient. A caregiver accesses the label to read and mark directly on a bedridden patient.

Medical device for joint immobilization

An immobilization sleeve for helping user's heal predetermined joints. The immobilization sleeve includes two open ends at each distal end spaced apart by a plurality of inflatable, semi-rigid passages that extend in a braided, or crisscross, configuration from the base to the top of the sleeve. The sleeve is inserted onto a joint and is made of a resilient material that wraps around the joint of a user.

Magnet assisted orthotic brace

An orthotic brace and brace hinge are disclosed where the brace hinge comprises a multiple hinge elements and at least one hinge element having a magnetic field that provides a magnetic force urging one hinge elements in a pre-determined direction. Embodiments generally utilize magnetic forces to stabilize, influence and/or maintain adjacent joint portions in pre-determined desired relationships and for constraining motion and/or rotation of the joint portions. Through the use of the repelling and attracting forces of magnets, mechanical forces in the brace and brace hinge can be replaced or supplemented to reduce the force put on joint bones, to influence the bones so that the joint is biased into certain positions or to apply different forces through different points of joint flexion. Embodiments of braces with magnetic fields on other brace elements are also disclosed.

THERAPEUTIC SPLINT

A therapeutic splint for the treatment of one or more joint areas of a patient. The splint includes longitudinal housings extending along a longitudinal axis (L) and arranged parallel to this longitudinal axis (L); one or more modular cartridges with therapeutic effect suitable for being arranged in the housings according to the joint area (s) to be treated. The splint further includes at least one transverse and/or oblique housing extending along one or more transverse and/or oblique axes (O), respectively, with respect to the longitudinal axis (L) of the splint. The transverse and/or oblique housing is arranged so as to cover an area extending around a joint to be treated. The modular cartridge or cartridges are arranged in the transverse and/or oblique housings according to the joint area(s) to be treated.

Porous orthopedic or prosthetic support having removable cushioning and scaffolding layers
10524936 · 2020-01-07 ·

An orthopedic or prosthetic support including at least three layers that allows for aeration and cushioning of the enclosed area is described herein. The orthopedic or prosthetic support includes an inner cushioning layer which is compressed against the skin in use. An intermediate scaffolding layer is situated substantially parallel to the inner cushioning layer and is maintained in spaced apart relationship with the inner cushioning layer by spacer members. An exterior layer overlays the intermediate scaffolding layer and may be either a flexible breathable fabric such as velvet or a thermoplastic with a plurality of perforations. The inner cushioning layer and the intermediate scaffolding layer include a plurality of perforations providing air pathways through the two layers. The grid-like arrangement of spacer members also define air passages between the inner and intermediate layers which further enhance circulation of exterior air to the skin covered by the orthopedic or prosthetic support.

ADJUSTABLE DORSAL NIGHT SPLINT

Lower leg orthotic brace

A foot orthotic having a foot support where the foot support includes a thermoplastic outer shell, a closed cell foam liner within the outer shell, and a tongue to secure the user's foot within the foot support. The orthotic also typically has includes a lower leg support that includes a thermoplastic outer shell, a closed cell foam liner within the outer shell, and a strap to secure the orthotic to the user's leg within the lower leg support. A cinching mechanism that typically has a rotatable tightening knob is on the lower leg support, and a tightening cable coupled to the rotatable tightening knob and operably connected to the foot support.

Double acting orthotic joint, orthosis and methods of use

An orthotic joint device has an attachment member rotatably attached to the joint device for rotation in a first direction, a resistive element such as a spring, and a first lever for transmitting a first direction resistance force from the resistive element to the attachment member. The resistive element may also resist rotation in the second direction opposed to the first via a second lever. The orthotic joint device may be used in an orthosis and in a method of supporting an ankle of a human.
