Tubular venting device for surgical casts and other orthopedic devices
Described is a venting device including a flexible outer covering defining an outer surface and an inner surface, a set of helicoidal venting strips, and a set of helicoidal buffers. The outer covering has a first end and a second end and a longitudinal axis therebetween. Each venting strip is anchored to the inner surface and extends substantially between the first end and the second end and the set of venting strips is arranged substantially helicoidal and defines a set of helicoidal seams therebetween. The set of helicoidal buffers includes a buffer covering an inner opening of each seam of the set of helicoidal seams where each buffer is configured to shield the inner opening of the corresponding seam from penetration and each buffer is anchored to at least one of the outer covering and a neighbouring venting strip of the set of venting strips.
Emergency limb fixation or restraining device
A method of splinting limbs of a patient by a single person and an elongated splint device, for use in the method. The splint device has a first track member and second and third elongated riding members movably held and positioned on the first track member. The riding members are freely movable on the first track member along a single longitudinal axis to obtain a proper length for splinting and a releasable locking mechanism is included to maintain the selected length. Two or more adjustable belt elements are removably connected to the riding member and serve to affix the splint device to a patient in a proper splinting position.
ARM SLEEVE THAT PROVIDES ASSISTANCE DURING AN ARM MOTION
Implementations of an arm sleeve that provides external assistance to an arm and shoulder of a user during an arm motion are provided. In one implementation, the arm sleeve comprises a framework that includes a torso portion configured to be attached to the torso of the user and an arm portion configured to receive at least a portion of the arm of the user. The framework of the arm sleeve is a unitary construction of interconnected elastic members. The interconnected elastic members include a first elastic member configured to play an active part throughout an overhead throwing motion, a second elastic member configured to decrease the concentric contraction force necessary for shoulder abduction during the cocking phase of a throwing motion, and a third elastic member configured to assist eccentrically contracting muscles during the deceleration phase of a throwing motion. In another implementation, the framework of the arm sleeve is encased by an elastomeric cover.
Adjustable immobilizer apparatus and method for immobilizing a patient
Systems for immobilizing a patient are disclosed. The system includes at least one preform formed from a low melting temperature thermoplastic, so that the preform may be formed to the anatomy of the patient, at least one frame coupled to the at least one preform, and at least one support to support the anatomy of the patient. The system also includes at least one lock mechanism coupled to at least one of the frame and the support in order to couple the at least one frame to the at least one support, and at least one adjuster mechanism coupled to at least one of the at least one frame and the at least one support in order to selectively adjust a distance between the at least one frame and the at least one support while the at least one frame is coupled to the at least one support.
Breathable and customized cast for immobilization of fractured limb
The present invention provides a breathable orthopedic cast device for immobilizing and stabilizing at least one fractured limb. The breathable orthopedic cast device comprising: a customizable cast member having hollow tubes pre-injected with at least one infusion material, wherein hollow tubes are interlinked with each other to form a mesh structure to provide breathability to a fractured limb. The breathable orthopedic cast device is a flat unfolded geometry that can be applied by wrapping over an injured body member, or is customized to a shape corresponding to the contours of the body member.
Orthopedic device for scapulothoracic stabilization
An orthopedic device is arranged for scapulothoracic stabilization, inclusive of features for biomechanical stabilization of the shoulder, scapula and spine, treated alone or in combination with assembly features for supporting an arm or shoulder. The orthopedic device may be arranged in a garment or shoulder harness such that either may include first and second strap systems for extending over first and second shoulders of a user, respectively, and each of the first and second strap systems forms a “
SHOULDER DRESSING FOR NEGATIVE PRESSURE THERAPY
A negative pressure therapy dressing includes a drape layer, an adhesive border configured to provide a seal between the drape layer and skin, and a manifold layer coupled to the drape layer. The manifold layer includes a body portion extending in a first direction, a first wing positioned at a first side of the body portion, and a second wing positioned at a second side of the body portion opposite the first side. The first wing extends away from the first side and partially in the first direction such that a first gap is provided between a first tip of the first wing and the first side of the body portion. The second wing extends away from the second side and partially in the first direction such that a second gap is provided between a second tip of the second wing and the second side of the body portion.
PEDIATRIC LITHOTOMY POSITIONING SPLINT
A positioning splint for safely and securely positioning a pediatric patient into a lithotomy position. The splint comprises a toroid, wedge-shaped splint having an anterior and posterior jaw which is attached to shoulder straps or a jacket/vest that holds the splint in place during use. The wedge splint and shoulder attachments are padded. The wedge splint may have a disposable covering. Methods of using the splint to position a patient for urinary catheterization as well as for other procedures, exams and surgeries requiring unobstructed access to the perineal and anorectal areas. Additional wrist/hand and ankle/leg straps are used for conscious patients who are uncooperative or incompetent patients or in the case of a patient with involuntary movement disorders.
BLOOD FLOW ASSISTING PORTABLE ARM SUPPORT
A portable arm support can be secured to an arm of a patient, for instance during a medical procedure (e.g., filtration of blood of the patient). The arm support can inhibit movement of the arm of the patient in one or more degrees of freedom (e.g., elevation, abduction, adduction, flexion, or the like). In some examples, the arm support includes a cuff and abase. In another example, the arm support includes an elongated member. In yet another example, the arm support includes a constricting band. The arm support can help maintain blood flow in the arm of the patient, and can help protect a catheter inserted into the arm of the patient (or protect other medical equipment proximate to the patient).
