MULTI-LAYERED NON-WOVEN STRUCTURE FOR USE AS A COMPONENT OF DISPOSABLE ABSORBENT ARTICLES
The present invention relates to multi-layered non-woven structures being useful as components of disposable absorbent articles and garments comprising super absorbent particles and thereby acts as a core. The invention thereby ensures that the body fluids can penetrate from a first layer, which acts as an acquisition layer, up to a third layer comprising SAP particles, the second non-woven layer serving to decrease the fluid volume per surface unit, as a conventional dispersion layer. However the second layer of the invention additionally acts like a non-return valve, preventing, or at least strongly limiting, any fluid transfer from the third layer to the first layer. Channels free of SAP can additionally be design to improve the inlet and rewet properties of the multilayer acquisition and distribution sheet non-woven material.
Apertured Nonwoven
An apertured nonwovens having a first nonwoven layer is described. The first nonwoven layer includes cellulose-based fibers and a plurality of apertures, wherein the plurality apertures have a minimum aperture distance between two adjacent apertures which has a relative standard deviation no greater than about 40%, as measured according to the Aperture Quality Test. The apertures have an aperture size no greater than about 2.2 mm.sup.2 and have an occlusion no greater than about 9%, as measured according to the Aperture Quality Test, or the apertures have an aspect ratio no greater than about 2.5 as measured according to the Aspect Ratio Test.
Method for manufacturing absorbent article and absorbent sanitary article
Provided is an absorbent article which includes a top sheet having extruded protrusions and a second sheet bonded to the top sheet and has adequate softness, satisfactory appearance, and yet prevents wrinkles in the top sheet along the MD. The problem is solved by a method of producing an absorbent article including forming the extruded protrusions through embossing of non-woven fabric to be a top sheet transferred by being drawn from downstream of a production line; and then bonding the non-woven fabric and a material of a second sheet in a bonding pattern formed by aligning the material of the second sheet 40 with the back face of the non-woven fabric having extruded protrusions, forming rows of plurality of top-second bonded portions at intervals in the CD in regions between the extruded protrusions adjacent each other in the MD so as to be provided across the center positions of the regions in the CD, and compressing the non-woven fabric in areas between the top-second bonded portions in the rows in the CD without welding of the non-woven fabric and the material of the second sheet.
Nonwoven webs with hydrophobic and hydrophilic layers
A nonwoven web for use in an absorbent article is described. The nonwoven web has first and second nonwoven layers. The first nonwoven layer has a first plurality of fibers, an additive disposed, at least in part, on a portion of the first plurality of fibers, a first side and an opposing second side, wherein second side has a plurality of discontinuities. The second nonwoven layer has a second plurality of fibers, a first surface and an opposing second surface, and a plurality of tufts extending through at least a portion of the discontinuities in the first nonwoven layer, wherein the second nonwoven layer is attached to the first nonwoven layer such that at least a portion of the second plurality of fibers are in liquid communication with the first nonwoven layer, wherein the first nonwoven layer is hydrophobic and the second nonwoven layer is hydrophilic.
Absorbent article
An absorbent body 4 is provided between a liquid permeable topsheet 3 and a liquid impermeable backsheet 2, and a second sheet 6 is provided between the liquid permeable topsheet 3 and the absorbent body 4. Slits 10 that penetrate in the thickness direction are formed along a longitudinal direction on both sides of the absorbent body 4 in the width direction, a body fluid expelling portion corresponding region H is included between the slits, the second sheet 6 is provided along an inner surface of the slits, and concave grooves 11, in which the second sheet 6 and the liquid impermeable backsheet 2 are integrated, are formed in the slits. At least a portion of the second sheet 6 constituting one of the side surfaces of the concave groove 11 has water-repellent properties.
Method for deforming a web
Methods for deforming a multilayer web are disclosed. Steps of the method include: supplying a first layer of a precursor web; supplying a second layer of the precursor web onto at least the first area of the first layer; forming a plurality of first features and a plurality of second features in the precursor web. The plurality of first features are apertures formed in a first area of the precursor web, and the plurality of second features are formed in a second area of the precursor web in a positive and/or negative Z-direction. The plurality of first features and the plurality of second features are formed simultaneously.
