SPRING RETRACT IV CATHETER

A safety catheter insertion device configured to automatically retracted needle cannula following insertion of a catheter assembly and to inhibit release of the catheter assembly from the safety catheter insertion device until the needle cannula has been retracted for the purpose of inhibiting inadvertent needle sticks. The safety catheter insertion device including an advancement arm slidably coupled to a needle housing assembly and configured to shift between a first position in which a needle cannula traverses through a catheter hub coupling portion of the advancement arm to inhibit release of a catheter assembly, and a second position in which one or more tabs of the advancement arm interact with one or more retention arms of the needle housing assembly to enable a biasing mechanism to shift the needle assembly to a proximal position and enable release of the catheter assembly from the safety catheter insertion device.

Fluid Delivery Device Needle Retraction Mechanisms, Cartridges and Expandable Hydraulic Fluid Seals

A fluid delivery device includes an automatic needle retraction mechanism configured to automatically retract a delivery end of a needle into a housing. In one embodiment, the needle assembly is configured to automatically withdraw the delivery end of the needle into the housing upon an actuator moving from the first position to the second position. In one embodiment, the needle assembly is configured to automatically withdraw the delivery end of the needle into the housing upon decoupling a bottom surface of the housing from a skin surface.

Protector Housing Plastic Spike with Flash Intended for DVO Last Drop Extraction
20190307645 · 2019-10-10 ·

A device for transferring fluids in a closed system transfer device using flash for last drop extraction and to reduce coring. The device including a piercing member having a distal end and a proximal end and defining a longitudinal fluid channel. A first opening positioned at the distal end of the piercing member wherein the first opening is in fluid communication with the longitudinal fluid channel. A cover or flash positioned over the first opening. The cover including a pre-cut pattern wherein the cover opens along the pre-cut pattern upon application of a distally directed force from the longitudinal fluid channel. The distal end including the first opening having a steep taper to facilitate last drop extraction.

Syringe

A syringe includes a hollow body, a piston and a seal. The hollow body has a surrounding hollow body surface and forms a passage therein. An axis is formed in an axial longitudinal direction of the hollow body and the passage has a rear body opening and a front body opening arranged opposite to one another in the longitudinal direction. A first needle seat is formed at the front body opening, in which a needle cannula is arranged and relative to which the needle cannula is movable along the axis. The piston is arranged in the hollow body and is movable in the passage along the axis. The seal is able to be cancelled such that a receiving chamber and a supply space of the syringe are in flow communication in a release position.

INSTRUMENT FOR DELIVERING SUBSTANCES INTO THE ANATOMY
20190298975 · 2019-10-03 ·

A medical instrument that includes a needle and an expandable member located at a distal end of the needle. The expandable member includes a blocking member. The expandable member is configured to move tissue away from a distal end of the needle and/or from a distal end of a tubular member that is in fluid communication with a substance source. A substance is configured to be expelled into the anatomy through the expandable member. The blocking member is configured to restrict or prevent the substance from being expelled through the portion of the expandable member that includes the blocking member.

Vial adapters

A vial adapter is provided for interconnecting a vial having a closure and a fluid delivery device such as a safety syringe. The vial adapter comprises an adapter housing having a base, a shroud extending or projecting from the base and a cannula extending or projecting from the base for penetrating a rubber seal on the vial closure to thereby establish fluid communication between the vial and the vial adapter. The shroud may comprise a plurality of latitudinal slits or windows within each of which resides a flexion arm connected to the shroud, each flexion arm capable of engaging and/or retaining vial closures of any of a variety of different sizes. The vial adapter may comprise a conduit tip in fluid communication with the cannula to allow transfer of fluid to or from the safety syringe while also preventing inadvertent activation of a safety syringe needle retraction mechanism.

Retractable needle assemblies

A retractable needle assembly comprises a body portion, a needle having a patient end and being movable between an operational position in which the needle extends along a longitudinal needle axis with the patient end projecting forwardly from said body portion, and a safe position in which said patient end is retracted into said body portion, a deflector element rotatable about a deflector rotary axis generally perpendicular to said needle axis to move the needle to its safe position, and a manually operated deflector lever connected to or forming part of said deflector element, the deflector lever projecting from said body portion and intersecting a plane perpendicular to the deflector rotary axis and containing the needle axis.

A MEDICAL INJECTION DEVICE WITH NEEDLE CLEANING

The invention relates to a prefilled injection pen for apportioning multiple set doses of a liquid drug. The injection pen comprises a housing assembly with a removable cap rotatable coupled to the housing assembly such that the user has to rotate the removable cap upon mounting and dismounting the removable cap. Rotation of the removable cap initiates a process in which the proximal end of a needle cannula is first inserted into a cartridge permanently embedded in the housing assembly and thereafter moves the cartridge proximally to thereby pump a predetermined amount of the preservative containing liquid drug from the cartridge and into a cleaning chamber carried by an axially movable shield. The needle cannula is mounted in a needle hub which is arranged to follow rotation of the removable cap and guided helically in relation to the housing assembly such that the needle hub is moved proximally upon rotation of the removable cap. Further, the axially movable shield is operated by the needle hub to follow proximal movement of the needle hub such that the distal tip of the needle cannula is maintained inside the cleaning chamber upon axil movement of the needle hub and the needle cannula.
