Device for projecting images on the retina
A device to stimulate the retina comprises one or more light sources coupled to one or more optical elements. The one or more optical elements is configured to illuminate the retina with one or more images at a location away from a fovea of a wearer. In some embodiments, each of the one or more images comprises a depth of focus and a spatial resolution. The one or more images can be formed at a distance anterior to the retina, at a distance posterior to the retina or on the retina. In some embodiments, the depth of focus is less than the distance, and the spatial resolution greater than a spatial resolution of the retina at the location.
Method and apparatus for managing photophobia and migraine photophobia
Apparatus and methods for producing narrow-band radiation in the green region of the visible spectrum are described. The narrow-band radiation may be used to aid subjects experiencing photophobia. In some cases, subjects may experience a reduction in pain (e.g., migraine photophobia) when using the narrow-band radiation.
Lens with asymmetric projection to treat astigmatism
A stimulus is configured to treat astigmatism with changes in retinal thickness, independently of, or in combination with, treatment for myopia. In some embodiments, a stimulus pattern is arranged with respect to an astigmatic axis of the eye to decrease ocular growth in relation to the astigmatic axis. In some embodiments, the apparatus is configured to direct light to regions of retina outside the macula in relation to the astigmatic axis of the eye. In some embodiments, the intensity is modulated to provide the effect. A lens, such as a contact lens or spectacle lens may be configured with a plurality of light sources, such as projection units having a light source and focusing optics that work together to project anteriorly or posteriorly defocused images onto the retina at locations eccentric to the fovea.
STIMULATION OF NEURONAL PLASTICITY
Described herein are methods, devices and systems for stimulating neural oscillations in the high gamma wave frequency, in particular to promote neuronal plasticity and removal of the perineuronal net. Such methods, devices and systems are useful for treating neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia and depression in a subject in need thereof.
SUPPORTING PILLARS FOR ENCAPSULATING A FLEXIBLE PCB WITHIN A SOFT HYDROGEL CONTACT LENS
A contact lens may include a body of contact lens material extending between a first surface and a second surface. An electromechanical component may be supported in the contact lens material between the first surface and the second surface. A support comprising a plurality of pillars may be formed of the contact lens material and may extend from at least one of the first surface and the second surface to the electromechanical component.
Devices and systems for treating pain based on light therapy
Devices and systems for treating based on light therapy are disclosed. One example device includes an eyewear configured for placement in front of an eye to allow light to reach the eye, and one or more filters having transmission spectra within a range that approximately spans 450 to 570 nm associated with blue or green light. The one or more filters is configured to block light spectra outside of said range and to allow the blue or green light to reach the eye for administering light therapy to a subject exhibiting pain.
Light control devices and methods for regional variation of visual information and sampling
Exemplary light control devices and methods provide a regional variation of visual information and sampling (“V-VIS”) of an ocular field of view that improves or stabilizes vision, ameliorates a visual symptom, reduces the rate of vision loss, or reduces the progression of an ophthalmic or neurologic condition, disease, injury or disorder. The V-VIS devices and methods generate a moving aperture effect anterior to a retina that samples and delivers to the retina environmental light from an ocular field of view at a sampling rate between 50 hertz and 50 kilohertz. Certain of these V-VIS devices and methods may be combined with augmented or virtual reality, vision measurement, vision monitoring, or other therapies including, but not limited to, pharmacological, gene, retinal replacement and stem cell therapies.
PHOTOTHERAPY DEVICES AND METHODS
A product for use in treating a subject, incorporating a light-conversion medium which receives ambient light of broad spectrum, and emits light at one or more peak wavelengths or ranges of wavelengths (λ1, λ2, λ3) having greater intensity than corresponding intensity in the received broad spectrum ambient light. The products outlined are specifically designed for skin treatments of many different kinds, where the wavelengths chosen to have therapeutic or enhancing effects to the biological processes that occur inside or that directly affect the skin. The products can either exist as a unique treatment or be coupled with existing treatments in order to achieve an improved or differentiating result.
MODULATION OF THE THETA-GAMMA NEURAL CODE WITH CONTROLLED LIGHT THERAPEUTICS
Gamma brain stimulation (around 40 Hz) is performed using light pulses. To perform theta brain stimulation (around 7 Hz) without perceptible flicker, the light source is also strobed at 47 Hz (also within the gamma range). The brain perceives the 40 Hz and a subtraction frequency of 7 Hz (in the theta range). The combined gamma and theta wave stimulation of the brain may be used for preventing or treating brain disease or sleeping disorders. The particular stimulation frequencies and their phases create neuronal gamma-theta coupling in the brain that has been shown to have positive effects on memory, Alzheimer's disease, motor skills, and other functions. Other gamma and theta frequencies, creating gamma-theta coupling in the brain, are also beneficial. The phase of the light pulses is also dynamically controlled using feedback to maximize theta-gamma coupling in the brain.
PHOTOTHERAPY AND PHOTOBIOMODULATION DEVICE
A photobiomodulation (PBM) device including eyewear (e.g., incorporating prescription or non-prescription lenses) that is worn throughout the day is provided. The PBM device provides longer-term light delivery throughout the day and may capture patient compliance, provide real-time dose adjustments, and allow for HIPAA-compliant communication with the prescribing clinician. The PBM device provides a wearable, open eye device format designed for increased compliance, lower cost, and greater convenience.
