Dynamic spinal fixation system, method of use, and spinal fixation system attachment portions
Spinal fixation systems including a member, a first attachment portion, a second attachment portion, and an intermediate portion. The first attachment portion is attached at a superior end of the member and includes a first opening. The second attachment portion is attached at an inferior end of the member and includes a second opening. The intermediate portion connects the first and second attachment portions. The spinal fixation systems may also include a relief in at least one of the first opening and the second opening. The systems may also include a third attachment portion with a third opening and an intermediate portion with a first and a second elastic mechanism. The first elastic mechanism connects the first and third attachment portions and the second elastic mechanism connects the third and second attachment portions. Surgical methods for inserting the spinal fixation systems in a patient are also disclosed.
PIVOTAL BONE ANCHOR ASSEMBLY WITH TWIST-IN-PLACE INSERT
A medical implant assembly includes a polyaxial bone anchor having a shank, a receiver, a lower compression insert with planar surfaces for closely receiving an elongate connecting member with planar surfaces and a one-piece closure structure. The connecting member is made from a polymer. The closure structure engages both the connecting member and the insert with the engagement between the closure structure and the insert securely locking the polyaxial mechanism even if the connecting member exhibits creep.
Tethering Screw System
A tethering screw system includes a bone screw, a fastening member, and a securing member. The bone screw includes a threaded shank and a head portion. The head portion includes inner walls defining a slot and a recess distal of the slot. The fastening member is received in the recess of the head portion of the bone screw. The securing member has an engaging portion and a set screw rotatably coupled with the engaging portion. The engaging portion is configured to secure the fastening member in the recess of the head portion. The set screw is configured to threadably engage the inner walls of the head portion of bone screw, wherein when the set screw threadably engages the inner walls of the head portion of the bone screw, the engaging portion advances relative to the fastening member to secure the fastening member in the recess of the head portion.
Dynamic fixation system, method of use, and fixation system attachment portions
Fixation systems including a member, a first attachment portion, a second attachment portion, and an intermediate portion. The first attachment portion is attached at a superior end of the member and includes a first opening. The second attachment portion is attached at an inferior end of the member and includes a second opening. The intermediate portion connects the first and second attachment portions. The fixation systems may also include a relief in at least one of the first opening and the second opening. Surgical methods for inserting the fixation systems in a patient are also disclosed.
Device and method for treatment of spinal deformity
The present invention generally relates to methods and device for treatment of spinal deformity, wherein at least one tether is utilized to maintain the distance between the spine and the an ilium to (1) prevent increase in abnormal spinal curvature, (2) slow progression of abnormal curvature, and/or (3) impose at least one corrective displacement and/or rotation.
Spinal implant system and method
A spinal construct includes an existing spinal rod implant defining a rod dimension and having at least one mating surface. At least one extension includes a mating surface engageable with the at least one mating surface of the existing spinal rod implant to comprise a connection having a dimension the same as the rod dimension. A coupling member is configured to fix the existing spinal rod implant with the at least one extension. Systems, surgical instruments, implants and methods are disclosed.
System and method for cervical midline fixation
Devices and methods for enhancing the effectiveness of spinal stabilization, and particularly that of cervical spinal stabilization, are provided herein. More specifically, methods and systems are disclosed for effectively positioning occipital plates and spinal fixation assemblies within target vertebrae, while also reducing any associated patient trauma (e.g., muscle stripping, tissue damage, etc.). The systems and methods can utilize trans-lamina delivery of the spinal fixation assemblies to allow for the positioning of the fixation elements along the midline of the patient's spine.
Segmented alignment rod assembly
A segmented rod assembly for aligning a spine having a plurality of vertebrae, including a rod, including a plurality of segments, the plurality of segments having at least a first segment arranged to be slidingly secured to a first vertebra of the spine, a second segment arranged to be fixedly secured to a second vertebra of the spine, and a third segment arranged between the first and second segments to be connected to a third vertebra of the spine, a tensioning member arranged within the plurality of segments, the tensioning member having a first end secured to the first segment and a second end.
Dynamic stabilization member with molded connection
A dynamic fixation medical implant having at least two bone anchors includes a longitudinal connecting member assembly having at least one transition portion and cooperating outer sleeve, both the transition portion and sleeve being disposed between the two bone anchors. The transition portion includes a rigid length or rod having apertures therein and a molded plastic length that extends through the apertures, thus attaching the plastic length to the rigid length. The sleeve surrounds the transition portion and extends between the pair of bone anchors, the sleeve being compressible in a longitudinal direction between the bone anchors.
Orthopedic fastener for stabilization and fixation
The present invention includes an apparatus, kit and method for providing a bone fixation assembly for attachment to a bone to provide augmented support. The bone fixation assembly includes a screw having a screw head and a threaded shank. A first aperture is positioned about the screw head to receive a first longitudinal member and a first compression member that engages the first aperture to secure the first longitudinal member. The screw head has a second aperture positioned to receive a second longitudinal member and a second compression member that engages the second longitudinal member aperture to secure the second longitudinal member and provide augmented support.
