Rod Inserter And Rod With Reduced Diameter End
A pedicle screw assembly including a bone fastener having a lower end for engaging bone and an upper end remote from the lower end; a head having a rod-receiving channel attached to the upper end of said bone fastener; a spinal rod insertable into the rod-receiving channel of said head, said spinal rod having an outer surface extending between first and second ends thereof, wherein at least one of the first and second ends has a reduced diameter section. A spinal rod having an outer surface extending between a first end and a second end thereof; wherein the outer surface of said spinal rod has a reduced diameter section at at least one of the first and second ends.
ANCHORING DEVICE WITH EXTENDED TABS
An anchor can be coupleable to a bone, where the anchor includes a head, a shank, a first extension, and a second extension. The head can include a distal head portion and a proximal head portion, where the proximal head portion can be open at a proximal end of the head. The shank can extend distally from the distal head portion, where the shank including a threaded portion configured to engage the bone. The second extension can be opposing the first extension, and the second extension can include a second proximal support coupled to a second end of a first elongate portion, where a first proximal support can extend transverse to the longitudinal axis, and the first proximal support portion and the second proximal support portion can be separated in a first condition and can be engaged to transfer forces there between in a second.
SURGICAL SYSTEM AND METHOD
A surgical system includes an implant support engageable, in operation of the system, with a receiver of a bone fastener having a shaft fixed with vertebral tissue. The receiver being connectable to at least one extender tab. The implant support including a connector being releasably engageable with the at least one extender tab. The implant support further including an adaptor. At least a portion of the adaptor being movable relative to the connector to releasably engage a surgical instrument to distract and/or compress the vertebral tissue. Surgical instruments, constructs, implants and methods are disclosed.
Devices and methods for inserting a vertebral fixation member
Devices, systems, and methods for inserting a vertebral stabilization member, such as a rod. The insertion device includes an outer guide tube, a pin assembly including a pin and a pusher member extending therethrough. The insertion device is configured to actuate a rod between a first orientation and a second orientation angled with respect to the first orientation in order to position the rod in an appropriate location for attachment to bone.
CONNECTION DEVICE FOR USE WITH EXTENSION MEMBERS OF A BONE ANCHOR
A connection device includes a sleeve having a first end, a second end above the first end, a longitudinal axis, and a wall that extends at least partially around the longitudinal axis. An extension member of a bone anchoring device is insertable through the first end into the sleeve to position the sleeve around at least part of the extension member. The wall has an outer surface and defines a laterally extending opening. A surface at a lower end of the opening extends inwardly from the outer surface by a first distance to facilitate insertion of a free end of the extension member from the first end into the opening, while a surface at an upper end of the opening extends inwardly from the outer surface by a distance greater than the first distance to restrict the free end from extending past the upper end of the opening.
Bi-planar persuader
The present disclosure relates generally to surgical instruments for spinal surgery. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to a bi-planar rod persuader for urging a spinal rod into a screw, and methods regarding the same. The bi-planar rod persuader may include an implant holder, which may also include a holding sleeve. A securing foot may be attached to the distal end of the holding sleeve, and the holding sleeve may also include a threaded opening at the proximal end for receiving a stem that drives the securing foot between a first position and second position. The implant holder may also include a threaded part to engage a reduction knob. A handle assembly may also be provided, which may include two pivotally attached arms. A rod hook may be connected to one of the arms and a guide attached to the other of the arms.
RECEIVING PART FOR COUPLING A ROD TO A BONE ANCHOR
A bone anchoring device includes a receiving part with a head receiving portion defining a seat for pivotably receiving a head of a bone anchor, and a rod receiving portion defining a recess for receiving a rod, the recess forming two legs each having an engagement surface for engaging a locking device to lock the rod in the recess, and an expansion limiting member having a surface configured to engage a portion of the receiving part spaced apart from the engagement surfaces of the legs. When the legs are urged radially outwardly, the head receiving portion is urged radially inwardly to compress and lock the head. The expansion limiting member is adjustable from a first configuration relative to the receiving part where the head receiving portion is expandable to permit the insertion of the head, to a second configuration where expansion of the head receiving portion is restricted.
Bone screw
A bone fixation system with variable z-axis translation is provided. The system includes an outer tulip coupled to a bone fastener via a screw retainer. An inner tulip is coupled to the outer tulip such that the inner tulip is longitudinally movably relative to the outer tulip. The inner tulip includes a lock that provides a seat for a connecting rod. The inner tulip together with a seated rod is permitted to translate along the z-axis inside the outer tulip when in an unlocked position. Also in the unlocked position, the bone fastener is free to angulate relative to the outer tulip. The z-axis position of the inner tulip and rod relative to the outer tulip is fixed in a locked position. Also, in the locked position, the bone fastener is locked with respect to the outer tulip. The system may be adjusted between the locked and unlocked positions by way of a set screw.
Spinal stabilization systems with quick-connect sleeve assemblies for use in surgical procedures
In some embodiments, a spinal stabilization system may be formed in a patient using quick-connect sleeve assemblies. Each quick-connect sleeve assembly can be coupled to a bone fastener assembly in a fast and intuitive way. In one embodiment, a quick-connect sleeve assembly has a detachable member and a movable member. Both members engage a collar of the bone fastener assembly. In one embodiment, the engagement can be locked via one or more locking features to facilitate screwing a bone fastener of the bone fastener assembly onto a vertebral body in a minimally invasive surgical procedure. Each quick-connect sleeve assembly has a low profile and is particularly shaped for minimally invasive entry.
