Methods and devices for correcting wear pattern defects in joints. The methods and devices described herein allow for the restoration of correcting abnormal biomechanical loading conditions in a joint brought on by wear pattern defects, and also can, in embodiments, permit correction of proper kinematic movement.

Methods and Devices for Utilizing Bondable Materials
20230346442 · 2023-11-02 ·

The invention primarily relates to fastening and stabilizing tissues, implants, and/or bondable materials, such as the fastening of a tissue and/or implant to a bondable material, the fastening of an implant to tissue, and/or the fastening of an implant to another implant. This may involve using an energy source to bond and/or mechanically to stabilize a tissue, an implant, a bondable material, and/or other biocompatible material. The invention may also relate to the use of an energy source to remove and/or install an implant and/or bondable material or to facilitate solidification and/or polymerization of bondable material.

ORTHOPAEDIC IMPLANTS INCLUDING BREAKAWAY FASTENER

This disclosure relates to orthopaedic implants and methods for restoring functionality to a joint. The implants described herein may be utilized during orthopaedic procedures and may be incorporated into a shoulder prosthesis for restoring functionality to shoulders having advanced cartilage disease. The disclosed implants may incorporate one or more fasteners formed together with a main body of the respective implant at a breakable connection. The fastener may be deployed during a surgical procedure, which may improve fixation of the implant at the surgical site.

UNICOMPARTMENTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY

A unicompartmental orthopedic knee implant may include a tibial tray including a body having a joint-facing side, a bone-facing side opposite the joint-facing side, a side wall extending about a periphery of the body, and a channel extending through the bone-facing side from one of the joint-facing side or the side wall, the channel being angled relative to the bone-facing side of the body. The implant may also include a fixation element coupled to the body. The fixation element may include a rail for insertion into the channel of the body, a support extending from the rail, and a bone engagement feature connected to the support, the bone engagement feature including an edge operable to penetrate the tibia, wherein the bone engagement feature is inserted through the channel.

Method of using glenoid component in shoulder arthroplasty

A method of implanting a glenoid assembly, includes forming two bores in a glenoid region of a scapula. At least one of two pegs of a base component is flexed toward the other peg and the two pegs are positioned partially within the bores in the flexed position. After releasing the pegs from the flexed position, the pegs are fully inserted into the bores. At least one stiffening pin is inserted into a first passageway formed in the first peg after the first peg has been fully inserted into the first bore.

Embodiments of forming custom interbody implants that may be used to stabilize region(s) formed between mammalian bony segments, including systems and methods to produce a custom interbody element that may be used to fixably stabilize or couple region(s) formed between two or more mammalian bony segments. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

UNICOMPARTMENTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY

A unicompartmental orthopedic knee implant may include a tibial tray having a body including a joint-facing side, a bone-facing side opposite the joint-facing side, and a channel provided in the bone-facing side. The bone-facing side includes a bottom surface and a bone-contacting layer applied to the bottom surface. The bone-contacting layer configured to contact a tibia. The channel extends through the bone-contacting layer. The tibial tray may also include a protrusion for insertion into a corresponding opening in the tibia, the protrusion extending from the bottom surface at a non-zero angle. The implant may also include a fixation element coupled to the bone-facing side of the body. The fixation element may include a rail for insertion into the channel of the body, a support extending from the rail, and a bone engagement feature connected to the support, the bone engagement feature including an edge operable to penetrate the tibia.

Joint implant

A methodology for grafting together adjacent bony structures is provided using an implant device having an endplate with an inner disc portion and outer ring portion spaced from the inner disc portion by a connecting wall disposed there between. An endplate interior surface includes a retaining structure for securing the endplate to one of the bony structures, and endplate an exterior surface has an integrally formed socket. A ball-joint rod has a longitudinally extending body and an end, and at least a portion of the ball-joint rod end is curvilinear in shape. The curvilinear ball-joint rod end is rotatably disposed in the endplate socket to fixedly interconnect the bony structures.

Spinal fusion implant

An implant may include a housing having a peripheral frame including an inner edge defining a central opening in a central portion of the implant; and a blade located within the central opening and having a retracted position in the housing and an extended position where the blade extends outwardly. The blade may be configured to be moved in a direction between the retracted position and the extended position. In addition, the blade may have at least one flange extending in a posterior direction. Also, the inner edge of the peripheral frame may include a posterior edge configured to support two portions of the blade in two respective locations, including a first location in which the posterior edge of the peripheral frame supports a first portion of the blade and a second location in which the posterior edge supports a second portion of the blade.
