Injector apparatus having a clutch to inhibit forward movement of the plunger
An injector apparatus includes a housing (10.sup.1, 10.sup.2) for a cartridge or syringe, a plunger (40) for cooperating in use with the cartridge or syringe to express successive doses, a dose setting arrangement (16, 20) to select a dose volume, and a drive mechanism (22, 24) releasable to advance the plunger in respective predetermined increments of magnitude to express the successive doses. The drive mechanism includes a drive spring (22) for imparting movement directly or indirectly to the plunger (40), and the dose setting arrangement includes a dose setting element (16) moveable in a dose setting routine to define a magnitude of an increment of movement of the plunger for a given dose. The drive mechanism further includes a clutch arrangement (56) operable during the dose setting routine to inhibit forward movement of the plunger and/or to isolate the dose setting element from the force of the drive spring.
DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE FOR LIQUID PHARMACEUTICALS
The present invention proposes a liquid pharmaceuticals delivery device (18) comprising a mainly cylindrical main body (1), a cartridge (3) having a mainly cyiindrical inner cavity with a volumetric capacity for accommodating multiple doses of a liquid pharmaceutical, the cartridge (3) comprising a first end for receiving a plunger (7) and a second end for liquid pharmaceutical extraction. The device (18) further comprises a jackscrew (55) a comprising a threaded lower jackscrew (5) and a threaded upper jackscrew (6) integrated or fixed to each other. The jackscrew (55) being rotatable around a primary axis of the main body (1) and stationary along said primary axis, a threaded plunger rod (8) which is integrated to the plunger (7) and which has a thread diameter (Dp) corresponding to thread diameter of the lower jackscrew (5). A button (12) is engageable with the spindle (10), by one thereof having a recess and the other having a protrusion matching said recess along a direction parallel to the primary axis of the spindle (10). The threaded mainly cylindrical spindle (10) has a thread diameter (Ds) corresponding to thread diameter of the upper jackscrew (6). The thread diameter (Ds) of the spindle (10) is greater than the thread diameter (Dp) of the plunger rod (8).
Devices and methods for precision dose delivery
Disclosed herein are delivery devices for delivering a volume of a drug product, placebo product, or other product including a fluid. The devices may include a barrel having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end region, and a distal end region. The proximal end region may include an opening, and the barrel may be configured to receive a drug therein. A plunger rod may be disposed at least partially inside the barrel and protruding from the opening. The plunger rod may include a rack having a plurality of teeth. The device may further include a pinion having a plurality of teeth configured to engage with the plurality of teeth of the rack, and rotation of the pinion against the rack may move at least a part of the plunger rod along the longitudinal axis of the barrel.
Apparatus for Detecting a Dose of Medicament Delivered from an Injection Device
Disclosed is an apparatus for detecting a dose delivered from an injection device having a dose setting mechanism that allows different dosages to be delivered. The accessory has an attachment portion configured to attach the accessory to the injection device, and a body that houses an optical sensor arrangement of the injection device includes a cartridge assembly and a housing, the housing contains a dose dispensing mechanism and a dose setting mechanism, the dose dispensing mechanism includes a part that moves in response to movement of the dose setting mechanism and indicates a dose dialed by the dose setting mechanism. The housing further includes a window aligned with the part of the dose dispensing mechanism to allow the optical sensor arrangement to detect a location of the part that moves in response to movement of the dose setting mechanism to determine the dose dialed by the dose setting mechanism.
Electronic injector for injecting a medicinal product
An example injector includes a rotary knob for selecting a function and setting a dosing quantity for an injection, a button located on an end of the rotary knob for initiating the injection, an electric motor, an encoder for evaluating output rotary motion of the motor, and a processor that converts the dosing quantity into a number of encoder pulses and controls operation of the motor based on the number of encoder pulses when dosage is triggered. The injector also includes a transmission coupled to the electric motor to convert a speed of the motor, a threaded spindle coupled to the transmission that moves linearly based on the output rotary motion of the motor at the speed as converted by the transmission, and a punch connected to an end of the threaded spindle. The linear movement of the spindle causes the punch to release medicament.
Gear-driven infusion assemblies, systems, and methods
A gear-driven infusion assembly is provided which has a housing, a gear assembly coupled to the housing, a shuttle assembly slidably coupled to the housing and operably coupled to the gear assembly, and a tube enclosure connected to the housing. The tube enclosure is configured to house a primary drug closure such as a syringe. The gear assembly includes a spool assembly having a pinion gear and a drive spool. When the spring rotates the drive spool, the drive spool drives the pinion gear, and the gear assembly drives the shuttle assembly. When the gear assembly drives the shuttle assembly, the shuttle assembly slides longitudinally along the housing. The gear assembly may be spring driven such that a spring rotates the pinion gear about the drive spool. An overspeed protection device is also provided which has a spool assembly including a drive spool.
Drug delivery assembly for cartridge-based medicaments
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe drug delivery with a reusable pen injector. In particular, several embodiments are directed to motor-driven delivery of cartridge-based medicaments with an electronic pen injector device and associated pen cap device.
MEDICATION DELIVERY DEVICE WITH GEAR SET DOSAGE SYSTEM
A medication delivery device is disclosed including a rack-and-pinion plunger drive system. The drive system includes an output drive having a pawled end movably coupled with the ratchet teeth of the plunger, and a pinion drive coupled between the housing, the output drive and an actuator. Actuator is longitudinally movable between dose set and delivery positions. Movement of the actuator causes rotation of the pinion drive along the rack to translate the output drive member with the pawled end that is engaged with the plunger ratchet teeth to distally advance the plunger. The device may include one or more of an end of dose mechanism to limit travel of the actuator, a load brake system to stop travel of the plunger under high input forces, a dose detection system, and a dose selector to vary the amount of dose set.
DELIVERY DEVICES FOR THERAPEUTIC SUBSTANCES
In some embodiments, a delivery device includes a device actuator and a cannula portion through which a therapeutic substance is ejected. The cannula portion includes an outer shaft, a needle that is configured to move through the outer shaft, and a plunger that is configured to move through the needle, forming a positive displacement arrangement.
