The slot includes at least three surfaces corresponding to three operative orientations of said shield. The needle hub is connected to the shield such that the shield can move axially, but cannot rotate, relative to the needle hub. The three operative orientations include a storage operative orientation, an injection operative orientation, and a needle protection operative orientation. The system also includes a locking sleeve, at least one biasing element, a needle sheath, and at least one tab in the slot to prevent undesired movement between said surfaces.
Safety syringe and safety mechanism for use in the same
The present invention discloses a safety syringe and a safety mechanism for use in the safety syringe. In one example, the safety syringe comprises: a barrel having a proximal end, a distal end and a cavity being between the proximal end and the distal end and defining a longitudinal axis, a needle holder extending distally from the distal end; a plunger having a distal portion inserted inside the barrel from the proximal end of barrel and a proximal portion located outside the barrel; a needle having a proximal portion inserted into a needle passage of the needle holder from the distal side of the needle holder and a distal portion located outside the needle holder, the needle being hollow and in fluid communication with the cavity of the barrel; and a safety mechanism mounted at least partially around the needle holder; at an unactuated position of the safety mechanism, the distal portion of the needle is not covered by the safety mechanism; at an actuated position of the safety mechanism, at least distal tip end of the needle is covered by the safety mechanism to prevent accidental contact with the distal tip end of the needle. According to the present disclosure, it is feasible to, upon assembling the syringe, first duly mount the safety mechanism, and then mount the needle. As such, the needle needs to be calibrated only once, and furthermore, the safety mechanism, before being actuated, does not interfere with the needle.
Protected needle assembly for a hypodermic needle
There is provided a protected needle assembly. The assembly includes an outer barrel receiving a needle therethrough. The assembly includes an inner barrel resiliently biased to extend about the needle in a protected needle mode. The inner barrel is retractable into the outer barrel in a first instance to deploy the needle. The assembly includes a locking mechanism actuated upon the inner barrel moving towards the protected needle mode once more. The locking mechanism is configured to inhibit further retraction of the inner barrel thereafter.
Needle assisted injection device having reduced trigger force
An injector includes a trigger mechanism including: a trigger member disposed about an axis having an aperture and a protrusion, and a ram assembly having a ram configured to pressurize a medicament container for expelling a medicament therefrom, the ram assembly further having a trigger engagement member configured to engage the aperture of the trigger member when the trigger member is in a pre-firing condition; an energy source associated with the ram for powering the ram to expel the medicament; and a user-operable firing-initiation member having an aperture engaged with the protrusion of the trigger member and operable for causing an axial translation of the trigger member in a proximal direction from the pre-firing condition to a firing condition in which the trigger engagement member is released from the retaining portion to allow the energy source to fire the ram.
LOCK MECHANISM FOR A MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE
The application describes lock mechanisms for medicament delivery devices. The lock mechanisms extend from a proximal end to a distal end in an axial direction relative to a longitudinal axis, the lock mechanisms can have a housing, a medicament delivery member guard and a cap. The lock mechanisms can also include a protrusion extending in a radial direction relative to the longitudinal axis and a recess or cut-out. Various related medicament delivery devices, medicament delivery device components, sub-assemblies and methods are also described.
MEDICAMENT DELIVERY MEMBER GUARD LOCK ASSEMBLY
The application describes a medicament delivery member guard lock assembly for a medicament delivery device, the medicament delivery member guard lock assembly includes a housing having a recess or a slit; a medicament delivery member guard slidably arranged in the housing, the medicament delivery member guard extending from a proximal end to a distal end; a lock activation sleeve slidably arranged in the housing at the distal end of the medicament delivery member guard; and a medicament delivery member guard lock arranged in the housing adjacent to the lock activation sleeve, wherein the medicament delivery member guard lock has a flexible arm pivotally attached to a base, wherein the flexible arm has a proximal part, a distal part and is attached to the base between the proximal part and the distal part, and wherein the proximal part of the flexible arm is arranged adjacent to the recess or slit in the housing.
