Catheter assemblies are described having a catheter hub with a catheter tube and a needle hub with a needle projecting through the catheter tube. The catheter hub has a valve or a septum for stopping or slowing down the flow of fluid in or out of the catheter hub when the valve or septum is closed. The valve or septum has an exposed proximal wall that enables the valve to be wiped or cleaned with an antiseptic solution. The valve further has a cavity for receiving at least part of a needle guard, which is incorporated for preventing accidental needle stick with the needle tip.

SAFETY DEVICE FOR A NEEDLE AND SAFETY NEEDLE SYSTEM COMPRISING A SAFETY DEVICE

A safety needle system includes a needle and a safety device. The safety device includes a housing having a channel. A stem of the needle can pass through the channel. The housing can slide over the stem such that the needle is moveable relative to the housing between a first position, in which the needle tip protrudes from the housing, and a second position, in which the needle tip is inside the channel. A closing device can close a distal opening of the housing when the needle is in the second position. The closing device includes a protection flap that closes the distal opening when the protection flap is in a first flap position. The closing device also includes a securing element configured to block movement or deformation of the protection flap out of the first flap position towards the inside of the channel.

SAFETY DEVICE FOR A HOLLOW MEDICAL NEEDLE

Method, system and device involving a needle device with a needle safety element with improved stable structure. A frame can surround the needle safety element to provide added stiffening of the needle safety element. The frame can include stays extending laterally of the needle safety element. The needle safety element with the frame can be slidably located on a needle and in a catheter hub in a ready to use position and be removable from the catheter hub in a protective position.

NEEDLE CAPTURE SAFETY INTERLOCK FOR CATHETER

A catheter assembly includes a flexible catheter (22), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip, the needle (12) disposed in the flexible catheter (22) and moving from a first position that exposes the needle (12) to a second position, an outer member (26) that is configured to engage and disengage a catheter hub (14), an inner member (28) disposed in the outer member (26), and a needle protection (30) member disposed in the inner member (28), the needle protection member (30) enclosing at least a portion of the needle (12) when the needle (12) is in the second position.

MULTI-USE BLOOD CONTROL SAFETY CATHETER ASSEMBLY

A catheter assembly comprises a catheter (18), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip disposed within the catheter (18), a catheter hub (14) connected to the catheter (18) having the needle (12) passing therethrough, the catheter hub (14) including a valve (38) that selectively permits or blocks a flow of fluid through the catheter (18), a valve actuator (54) that moves between a first position and a second position, and a return member (56) that returns the valve actuator (54) from the second position to the first position, and a needle protection member (176) that encloses the sharp distal tip of the needle (12).

NEEDLE CAPTURE SAFETY INTERLOCK FOR CATHETER

A catheter assembly (10) comprises a catheter (22), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip disposed in the catheter (22), a catheter hub (14) housing the catheter (22) and the needle (12), the catheter hub (14) having a collar (34) including a notch (36), a needle shield (20) connected to the catheter hub (14) when the needle (12) is in a first position, and a clip (40) disposed in the needle shield (20) that cooperates with the needle (12), wherein the clip (40) engages the catheter hub (14) in the first position of the needle (12), and the clip (40) disengages the catheter hub (14) via the notch (36) when the needle (12) is retracted to a second position to enclose at least a portion of the needle (12). The clip (40) is mounted in the outer housing (38) of the needle shield (20) via a spade (66) having an outer wall (70) exposed to the outside of the needle shield (20), in order to reduce the overall width of the needle shield (20).

NEEDLE SAFETY DEVICE

The invention relates to a needle safety device for a medical device, the needle safety device comprising: a base portion having a bore extending along a longitudinal center axis therethrough for receiving a needle; and two opposing jaws extending from the base portion generally in the axial direction and each having a head portion in the region of its free end, wherein the needle safety device includes a locking projection for securing the needle safety device to the medical device. The needle safety device according to the invention further provides at least one elastic element mounted to the jaws in a non-surrounding manner lateral to the center axis in a region between the base portion and the head portions, wherein at least one elastic element and the jaws are configured such that the jaws can be spread apart against a restoring force of at least one elastic element in order to allow the needle received in the bore to extend all the way through the needle safety device.

Safety shield for medical needles

A medical needle shield apparatus is provided that includes a needle hub having a needle cannula extending therefrom. At least one shield is extensible from a retracted position to an extended position to enclose a distal end of the needle. The shield includes a binding member disposed within the shield and defines binding surfaces that form an aperture configured for slidable receipt of the inner needle. The binding member includes at least one drag inducing member that engages the inner needle during slidable receipt to create a drag force. The drag force facilitates rotation of the binding member such that the binding surfaces engage the inner needle to prevent slidable movement. The shield and/or hub includes a retention element engageable between the shield and hub and a sheath retention element. The hub includes a magnifier for viewing fluid flashback.
