The medical device may control a stimulation generator to generate the entrainment stimulation pulses according to the first set of stimulation parameters. The medical device may further determine a second set of stimulation parameters that define at least one desynchronization stimulation pulse configured to disrupt at least a portion of the electrical activity entrained by the entrainment stimulation pulses. The medical device may subsequently control the stimulation generator to generate the desynchronization stimulation pulse(s) according to the second set of stimulation parameters.

A method of facilitating a skill learning process or improving performance of a task, comprising: determining a brainwave pattern reflecting neuronal activity of a skilled subject while engaged in a respective skill or task; processing the determined brainwave pattern with at least one automated processor; and subjecting a subject training in the respective skill or task to brain entrainment by a stimulus selected from the group consisting of one or more of a sensory excitation, a peripheral excitation, a transcranial excitation, and a deep brain stimulation, dependent on the processed temporal pattern extracted from brainwaves reflecting neuronal activity of the skilled subject.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEURAL STIMULATION VIA VISUAL, AUDITORY AND PERIPHERAL NERVE STIMULATIONS
Systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for treating cognitive dysfunction in a subject in need thereof. The system can include a light source and a speaker. A visual neural stimulation system provides, via the light source, visual stimulation having a first value of a first parameter. An auditory neural stimulation system provides, via the speaker, audio stimulation having a second value of the second parameter. A stimuli orchestration component selects, for a first time interval, one of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation to vary based on a policy, selects, for the first time interval, the other of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation to keep constant based on the policy, and provides causes the one of the visual neural stimulation system or the auditory neural stimulation system to vary the one of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation.

In accordance with some embodiments of the disclosed subject matter, mechanisms (which can, for example, include systems, methods, and media) for detecting an effortful mental state providing real-time deep brain stimulation to enhance performance of effortful mental tasks are provided. In some embodiments, system for detecting and facilitating effortful mental states is provided, the system comprising: monitoring sensors to capture neural activity from a subject's brain; an implanted stimulator to provide electrical stimulation to the subject's brain; a hardware processor programmed to: correlate activity in a first and second region of the subject brain during task performance; correlate activity in the first and second regions during task non performance; train a support vector machine (SVM) using the correlations as first and second class examples; and provide stimulation to augment brain function when the SVM indicates, based on activity in the first and second regions, the subject is in the mental state.
SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR BRAIN STIMULATION AND MONITORING
Provided are systems, methods, and devices for brain stimulation and monitoring. Brain stimulation may be provided to enhance slow wave and spindle synchrony. Such stimulation may provide increased memory consolidation. Furthermore, brain stimulation modalities may provide enhanced sleep and awakening. For example, transcranial direct current stimulation of the brain stimulation may enhance sleep quality. Moreover, one or more markers characterizing unconsciousness are may be identified based on changes in measured power densities or spectra. Further still, the above described modalities of brain stimulation may be implemented in an open-loop or closed loop manner. Brain state parameters may be generated for building models of the brain based on determined synchrony patterns between slow waves and spindles. The models may be used to determine a mediation procedure for adjusting the intensity of slow wave oscillations to enhance slow wave and spindle synchrony.

COGNITIVE AND MEMORY ENHANCEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Electrical stimulation of the brain in the lateral temporal cortex has been discovered to enhance memory performance. Also, consistent patterns of pupil response have been discovered to exist across and within distinct phases during encoding and recall of word lists and it is known that these pupillary changes also correlate with intracranial electrophysiologic activity. This document also describes systems and methods for enhancing memory and/or cognitive performance using these features as input for the delivery of electrical stimulation to the lateral temporal cortex of the brain.
