DEVICE AND METHOD FOR TREATIMENT OF SPINAL DEFORMITY
20230031742 · 2023-02-02 ·

The present invention generally relates to methods and devices for treatment of spinal deformity, and in particular to the utilization of at least one implant to either maintain the position of at least one vertebra of a patient to prevent increase in abnormal spinal curvature, to slow progression of abnormal curvature, or to impose at least one corrective displacement and/or rotation on at least one vertebra of a patient so as to incrementally correct abnormal spinal curvature.

Systems and methods for vertebral adjustment

A system for non-invasively adjusting the curvature of a spine includes a housing having a first end and a second end, a first rod having a first end telescopically disposed within a cavity of the housing along a first longitudinal axis at the first end of the housing and having a first threaded portion extending thereon, and a second end configured to be coupled to a first portion of a spinal system of a subject, a second rod having a first end telescopically disposed within the cavity along a second longitudinal axis at the second end of the housing and having a second threaded portion extending thereon, and a second end configured to be coupled to a second portion of the spinal system of the subject, a driving member rotatably disposed within the cavity and configured to be activated from a location external to the body of the subject.

Magnetically Actuatable Rod Insertion for Minimally Invasive Surgery

The present disclosure describes a spinal fixation system comprising a telescoping spinal rod, as well as methods of its use and a guide tower for use therewith. The telescoping rod can be extended after it has been inserted into the patient below the fascia, which permits it to be extended in the sub-fascial space.

A growing rod for mounting between attachment mechanisms that are secured to anatomical structures of a patient having scoliosis. The growing rod includes an outer housing and an inner housing disposed within the outer housing. The inner housing includes a magnet assembly including a magnet having a first pole and a second pole and a gear reduction mechanism coupled to the magnet. A first rod is secured to the inner housing and a second rod is secured to the outer housing. The gear reduction mechanism reduces an output rotation of the magnet to rotate a driver that operates to move the inner housing along a longitudinal axis with respect to the outer housing.

An implantable growing rod assembly adapted to be secured along a length of a spine for treating deformities of the spine. The assembly includes a housing, a fixed rod extending along a longitudinal axis away from the housing, and an expansion rod extendible from the housing along the longitudinal axis. A driver assembly is fixed to the housing and adapted to translate the expansion rod along the longitudinal axis. Examples of the implantable growing rod assembly include a smart growing system, and an autonomous growing rod system.
