A method of making a breathable, elastic film laminate comprising the steps of stretching an elastic film in a first direction, spot welding at least one nonwoven web to the film while it is stretched, and stretching the film laminate in a second direction to create apertures in the film. Articles derived from the method are also described.

An absorbent article includes a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and at least one elastically elongatable panel joined to the chassis. The elastically elongatable panel includes a stretch laminate that has at least one cover layer, an elastomeric film attached to the cover layer, the elastomeric film having two surfaces and a skin on at least one of the surfaces, and an adhesive disposed between the skin and the cover layer. The stretch laminate has at least one anchoring zone and at least one stretch zone, the skin that is located in the anchoring zone has a plurality of wrinkles, and the wrinkles have furrows, and at least some of the adhesive is disposed in at least some of the furrows. An absorbent article including the stretch laminate is also provided.

Composite elastic laminate

A method of making a composite elastic laminate is provided where an elastic layer is stretched in the machine-direction and while in a stretched state is fed into a grooved-roll assembly, together with outer facing layers, for imparting simultaneous cross-direction stretching forces to the superposed layers. The bi-directional stretching forces causes the elastic layer to tear and/or rupture allowing the laminate to be bonded in areas where the elastic layer has been displaced. Upon relaxation, a composite elastic laminate is provided having excellent breathability and elastic properties.

Textured Laminate Structure, Absorbent Articles With Textured Laminate Structure, And Method for Manufacturing

A textured laminate structure and absorbent articles having a component formed of the textured laminate structure are disclosed. The textured laminate structure may have a first layer formed of a nonwoven web having a preexisting pattern of first apertures therethrough, a second layer, and one or more elastic members disposed between the first and second layers in a prestrained condition. The laminate structure may be discontinuously joined or bonded such that the first layer is joined or bonded to the structure in first portions and unjoined or unbonded to the structure in second portions. The structure provides a stretch laminate with tactilely and visually interesting features, and may be used to form components of a disposable absorbent article such as a side panel thereof.

A portion of the skin is located in the anchoring zone and has a plurality of wrinkles, and the wrinkles have furrows.

The elastically elongatable panel includes an ultrasonically bonded stretch laminate. The stretch laminate includes a first nonwoven and a second nonwoven, and an elastomeric film sandwiched between the first and second nonwovens. The elastomeric film has two surfaces and a skin on at least one of the surfaces. The stretch laminate further incudes a zone that is unactivated. The laminate is elastically extensible in a stretch direction. The elastomeric film includes activation stripes.

The belt portion comprises a first substrate, a second substrate joined to the first substrate, and a plurality of elongate elastic elements disposed at least partially intermediate the first substrate and the second substrate. The belt portion comprises a texture zone having a texture ratio of greater than about 5.

Elastic diaper element

An elastic diaper element that includes an elastic layer (1) and at least one layer (2) made of a nonwoven fabric. The element has connection portions (5) between the elastic layer (1) and the non-woven layer (2). The non-woven layer (2) is corrugated in the non-stretched state and has portions (6) that act as a reserve allowing stretching. The connection portions (5) include zones (8) in which there is a form-fitting bond of material of the layer (2) made of the nonwoven and solidified material of the elastic layer (1).
