Stimulation of a Nerve Supplying the Spleen
20220401734 · 2022-12-22 ·

Stimulation of neural activity in a nerve supplying the spleen, wherein the nerve is associated with a neurovascular bundle, can modulate pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules levels, thereby reducing inflammation and providing ways of treating inflammatory disorders. The invention provides improved ways of treating inflammatory disorders which minimize off-target effects.

Treatment of Disorders Associated with Inflammation

Stimulation of neural activity in a nerve supplying the spleen, wherein the nerve is adjacent to the splenic artery at a position where the splenic artery is not in direct contact with the pancreas, can modulate pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules levels, thereby reducing inflammation and providing ways of treating disorders, such as disorders associated with inflammation. The invention provides improved ways of reducing inflammation with minimized off-target effects, in particular surgical trauma.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ADJUSTING A NEUROSTIMULATION THERAPY
20230372717 · 2023-11-23 ·

The systems and methods described herein generally relate to adjusting a neurostimulation (NS) therapy based on drug pharmacokinetics of a patient. The systems and methods deliver an NS therapy to a portion of electrodes of a lead positioned proximate to neural tissue of interest, which is associated with a target region. The NS therapy is defined by stimulation parameters. The systems and methods determine a trigger event indicative of a drug being administered to a patient. The drug is configured to affect at least one of the neural tissue of interest or the target region. The systems and methods adjust one or more of the stimulation parameters based on the PS profile.

Systems and methods for automated deep brain stimulation programming

The systems and methods can automatically determine a patient-specific set of stimulation parameters using optimization for exploring and/or programming a neurostimulation device, e.g., deep brain stimulation (DBS). In one implementation, the method may include receiving patient data and set of stimulation parameters associated stimulation delivered to a patient by a neurostimulation device. The method may include determining one or more objective metrics using the patient data for each set of stimulation parameters. The one or more objective metrics may be a quantitative value that represents a rating or score of tremor severity and/or side effect severity. The method may further include generating a patient specific response model using the one or more objective metrics and the associated set of stimulation parameters. The method may also include applying an optimization algorithm to the generated response model to determine a candidate set of one or more stimulation parameters.

Stimulation waveforms with high- and low-frequency aspects in an implantable stimulator device

Waveforms for a stimulator device, and methods and circuitry for generating them, are disclosed having high- and low-frequency aspects. The waveforms comprise a sequence of pulses issued at a low frequency which each pulse comprising first and second charge-balanced phases. One or both of the phases comprises a plurality a monophasic sub-phase pulses issued at a high frequency in which the sub-phase pulses are separated by gaps. The current during the gaps in a phase can be zero, or can comprise a non-zero current of the same polarity as the sub-phase pulses issued during that phase. The disclosed waveforms provide benefits of high frequency stimulation such as the promotion of paresthesia free, sub-threshold stimulation, but without drawbacks inherent in using high-frequency biphasic pulses.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING EVOKED COMPOUND ACTION POTENTIAL (ECAP) FEATURES IN RESPONSE TO NEUROSTIMULATION

Systems and methods are disclosed for conducting spinal cord stimulation or other neurostimulation and sensing evoked compound action potential (ECAP) signals. The sensed signals may be processed to isolate ECAP features from noise and/or interfering signals. The isolated ECAP features may be used to control neurostimulation therapy for the patient and/or guide an implant procedure.
