A method of separating hydrocarbons from an oil field production stream may include providing a production stream having a gas phase and a liquid phase, the production stream including oil, hydrocarbon gas, carbon dioxide, and water; substantially separating the gas phase from the liquid phase; separating the liquid phase into a stream composed substantially of oil and a stream substantially composed of water, the stream substantially composed of water containing carbon dioxide absorbed therein; pressurizing the water stream containing carbon dioxide absorbed therein; and injecting the pressurized water stream containing carbon dioxide absorbed therein to a downhole injection location; the method may include operating each step at a pressure above 150 psig.

DEVICE FOR DEGASSING A LIQUID FLOWING IN A LIQUID LINE

A device for degassing a liquid flowing in a liquid line is provided. The device has an inlet opening, an outlet opening, and a capillary element having an inner wall surface. The capillary element extends between the inlet opening and the outlet opening. The inlet opening is connected in a fluid-communicating manner to the outlet opening and is connected in a fluid-communicating manner to the liquid line. The inner wall surface has a material that is liquid-repellent for a liquid flowing in the liquid line. A device is thus provided for degassing a liquid flowing in a liquid line that reduces the time needed for degassing.

A continuous-feed vacuum distillation system with an integrated degasser is proposed. The degasser uses the same or a different vacuum system as the downstream distillation column and operates continuously on the material to be distilled before it enters the distillation column. This eliminates the current practices of degassing the feed material in bulk, with auxiliary equipment, before it enters the distillation apparatus, a difficult and time-consuming procedure, or using the distillation system in a low temperature state under vacuum, to remove the gas from the feed material, which is also inefficient. Various alternative features of the claimed integrated degasser are also claimed.

Method and system for removing hydrogen sulfide from sour oil and sour water

Embodiments of the present invention are generally related to a system and method to remove hydrogen sulfide from sour water and sour oil. Particularly, hydrogen sulfide is removed from sour water and sour oil without the need for special chemicals, such as catalyst chemicals, scavenger chemicals, hydrocarbon sources, or a large-scale facility. The system and method in the present invention is particularly useful in exploratory oil and gas fields, where large facilities to remove hydrogen sulfide may be inaccessible. The present invention addresses the need for safe and cost-effective transport of the deadly neurotoxin. Particular embodiments involve a system and method that can be executed both on a small and large scale to sweeten sour water and sour oil.

Purification of gases containing sulfur compounds

A system includes a purification unit configured to process a vapor stream including sulfur dioxide. The purification unit includes an inlet configured to allow the vapor stream to enter the purification unit. The purification unit includes a steam coil configured to circulate steam and provide a source of heat. The purification unit includes a packed bed. The purification unit includes a tray configured to accumulate sulfur. The purification unit includes an absorber section configured to remove at least a portion of the sulfur dioxide from the vapor stream. The purification unit includes an outlet configured to allow an effluent with a lower sulfur dioxide content than the vapor stream to exit the purification unit. The system includes a sulfur tank including a vent line in fluid communication with the inlet. The vent line is configured to allow vapor to flow from the sulfur tank to the purification unit.

Techniques in the disclosure use non-wetting or wetting surfaces to promote or hinder separation of gas from solution in a liquid. The systems and processes promote bubble nucleation and/or promote separation of a gas or gases from a liquid using non-wetting surfaces. Also, the systems and processes suppress bubble nucleation in order to create supersaturated solutions of gas or gases in a liquid by using wetting surfaces.

A fuel stabilization system for removing oxygen from fuel includes an accumulator disposed along a fuel line, the accumulator includes a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet and a heat source disposed in thermal communication with the fuel in or upstream of the fuel inlet of the accumulator to increase the temperature of the fuel within the accumulator. The accumulator is configured to allow oxygen deposits to form therein as a result of the temperature increase of the fuel.

A gas turbine engine has a fan drive turbine for driving a gear reduction. The gear reduction drives a fan rotor. A lubrication system supplies oil to the gear reduction, and includes a lubricant pump to supply an air/oil mixture to an inlet of a deaerator. The deaerator includes a separator for separating oil and air, delivering separated air to an air outlet, and delivering separated oil back into an oil tank. The separated oil is first delivered into a pipe outwardly of the oil tank, and then into a location beneath a minimum oil level in the tank.
