Neutralization/water separation device for esterified product and neutralization/water separation method for esterified product

A neutralization/water separation device for an esterified product including: a neutralization tank in which a crude product mixture containing alcohol and an ester compound, a neutralizing agent, and water are put to produce a neutralized mixture; a water separation tank disposed below the neutralization tank to divide the neutralization mixture into a floating layer and an aqueous layer; a partition wall extending downward from a ceiling of the water separation tank to provide a lower passage in the water separation tank; and a transfer line that transfers the neutralized mixture from the neutralization tank to the water separation tank, where the water separation tank includes: a first water separation part into which the neutralized mixture is introduced from the neutralization tank through the transfer line; and a second water separation part into which the neutralized mixture is introduced from the first water separation part through the lower passage, where the first water separation part and the second water separation part are partitioned by the partition wall.

CONCENTRICALLY BAFFLED REACTORS AND SYSTEMS THAT INCORPORATE THEM

In one embodiment, a concentrically baffled reactor includes an outer housing that defines an interior space, an inlet through which material can be delivered into the interior space, an outlet through which material can be removed from the interior space, and multiple concentric baffles within the interior space that define multiple concentric reactor zones through which the material can sequentially flow to the outlet.

Partitioned water treatment systems with vertical filtration units

The present invention supplies partitioned water treatment systems that possess a plurality of chambers and vertical filtration units, and are operative to control and filter surface runoff water. Such systems are typically placed inline with surface runoff water conveyance system infrastructure, such as pipes, channels, and water storage units.

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to an apparatus for refining a liquid stream which includes a liquid carrier with a heavier waste and a lighter waste. The apparatus includes a first flow chamber, a second flow chamber, and plates. The first flow chamber is a cone structure and directs the liquid stream downwards in a first direction at a first velocity. The first velocity is greater than a settling velocity of a heavier waste in the liquid carrier. The second flow chamber directs the liquid carrier upwards in a second direction at a second velocity less than the settling velocity. The plates are in the second flow chamber and at a transition between the first and second flow chambers. The plates have an inclined geometry to cause laminar flow in the liquid stream to separate the heavier waste to a lower collection chamber and lighter waste to an upper collection reservoir.

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to an apparatus for refining a liquid stream. The apparatus includes a first flow chamber, an inclined plate region, and a second flow chamber. The first flow chamber forms a first portion of an hourglass double cone structure and directs the liquid stream in a first direction at a first velocity. The inclined plate region includes inclined plates radiating outward from the hourglass double cone structure in a helical pattern. The inclined plate region directs the liquid carrier in a second direction opposite the first direction at a second velocity less than the first velocity forming a laminar flow condition in the liquid stream to separate heavy waste and light waste from the liquid stream. The second flow chamber forms a second portion of the hourglass double cone structure and directs the liquid stream to a liquid stream outlet.

Device (200) for cleaning grey water containing particulate material, comprising a container (201) in turn comprising a water entry (202); a slurry exit (204); a cleansed water exit (203); and a sedimentation volume (220). The invention is characterised in that the container further comprises a flocculant provision means, arranged to add a flocculant (212) to grey water entering via the water entry, so that grey water having entered said sedimentation volume after such adding contains said flocculant, in that the flocculant provision means comprises a vertical chute (213) arranged to convey, via gravity, said grey water from an upper part of said container to be released via an open lower end (215) of the chute into said sedimentation volume at a height of at the most 1 m above a bottom (221) of said sedimentation volume, the chute having a cross-sectional area of at least 0.1 m2. The invention also relates to a method.

Device (100) for cleaning grey water containing particulate material, comprising a contain-er (101) in turn comprising a water entry (102); a water exit (103); and a slanted separation wall (150,160) separating an upstream sedimentation volume (120,130) of said container from a downstream sedimentation volume (130,140) of said container, the separation wall comprising a through channel (151,161) having a lower outlet (153,163), via which water can flow, by gravity, from said upstream sedimentation volume to said downstream sedimentation volume. The invention is characterised in that the container further comprises a flocculant provi-sion means (110), arranged to add a flocculant (112) to grey water entering via the water entry, so that grey water having entered said upstream sedimentation volume after such adding contains said flocculant, and in that said lower outlet is shaped to direct a flow of water flowing downwards through the through channel obliquely upwards upon entry into the downstream sedimentation volume. The invention also relates to a method.

Stormwater filter

A stormwater filter comprising: a vessel having an inlet and an outlet; and a screen disposed within the vessel and arranged to divide at least part of the vessel into an upper section and a lower section. The stormwater filter further comprises: a flow splitter positioned adjacent the inlet of the vessel and/or a substantially vertical screen disposed adjacent the outlet in the upper section of the vessel. The flow splitter comprises an inclined leading edge and first and second deflecting surfaces extending from the leading edge. The first and second deflecting surfaces are angled relative to one another so as to direct incoming flow laterally away from an axis between the inlet and the outlet. The vertical screen comprises first and second screen portions which are angled relative to one another. The first and second screen portions are each hingedly connected to the vessel and are detachably coupled to one another at their distal ends.
