Reactor effluent wash to remove aromatics
10272359 · 2019-04-30 · ·

A process is presented for the removal or aromatics from a hydrocarbon stream. The hydrocarbon stream is generated by a dehydrogenation process that generates aromatics. The process includes a two contact cooler system with the first and second contact coolers using different coolants. The second coolant is a non-aromatic hydrocarbon coolant that will absorb aromatics.

A liquid/gas contactor unit includes a unit housing having a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet, and an air inlet and an air outlet. The liquid inlet and the liquid outlet are configured to flow liquid through the unit housing in a gravity liquid flow direction. The air inlet and the air outlet are configured to flow air through the unit housing in an air flow direction. A plurality of porous media layers are contained within the unit housing and along the air flow channel. Each porous media layer is separated from an adjacent porous media layer by an air gap. Each porous media layer has opposing major surfaces separated by a thickness. The opposing major surfaces are orthogonal to the gravity liquid flow direction.

Hybrid Direct-Contact Exchanger

A process and device for separating a vapor from a gas is disclosed. A direct-contact exchanger comprising a droplet-generating apparatus in a top portion of the exchanger and a bubbling apparatus in a bottom portion of the exchanger is provided. An inlet gas, comprising a vapor, is passed through the bubbling apparatus, forming bubbles in a bottoms liquid. The bottoms liquid strips a portion of the vapor and exchanges heat with the bubbles, producing a product liquid and a middle gas. A barren liquid is passed through the droplet-generating apparatus to form droplets of the barren liquid in the top portion. The droplets descend against the middle gas and strip a second portion of the vapor from and exchange heat with the middle gas, producing the bottoms liquid, which collects in the bottom portion, and a product gas.

Process for the purification of a cracking gas stream in an oil scrub column

A process for removing a petroleum spirit fraction and also an oil fraction from a cracking gas stream in an oil scrub column, wherein, the ratio of the amount of substance of the petroleum spirit fraction recycled into the benzene section at the top per unit time to the amount of substance of the cracking gas introduced into the oil section per unit time is in a range from 1:16 to 1:10, preferably 1:12 to 1:10.

VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM WITH COUNTERCURRENT AND CO-CURRENT ABSORBANT FLOW

A method of absorbing a solvent from a gas stream may involve flowing a gas stream comprising air and a hydrocarbon through an absorption column in a countercurrent direction with a first lean absorbent liquid to absorb solvent out of the gas stream and generate a first conditioned gas stream and a first rich absorbent liquid. The method can then involve flowing the first conditioned gas stream through the absorption column in a co-current direction with a second lean absorbent liquid to absorb solvent out of the first conditioned gas stream and generate a second conditioned gas stream having a reduced concentration of the hydrocarbon than the first conditioned gas stream and a second rich absorbent liquid.

A plant comprises a feed gas source, H2S removal unit, first absorber and a second, pressure reduction stages, first and second heat exchangers, stripping unit, and a conduit. The H2S removal unit selectively removes H2S from a feed gas from the feed gas source to produce an H2S depleted feed gas. The first absorber and the second absorber remove CO2 from the H2S depleted feed gas using a semi-lean and an ultralean solvent to produce a product gas and a rich solvent. The plurality of pressure reduction stages generates a cooled flashed solvent. The first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger use the cooled flashed solvent to cool the H2S depleted feed gas and the semi-lean solvent. The stripping unit strips the flashed solvent with dried air to produce the ultralean solvent, and the conduit combines a portion of the ultralean solvent with the H2S depleted feed gas.
