Described herein are articles for separating gases. The article includes an amorphous fluorinated copolymer containing, one or more types of fluorinated dioxolane ring monomers, and one or more types of fluorinated non-dioxolane ring monomers, optionally with crosslinking between the fluorinated copolymer chains. The copolymers of fluorinated dioxolane ring monomers and fluorinated non-dioxolane ring monomers show a large differential in the permeability of certain gases compared with other gases. The resulting polymer membranes have superior selectivity and reliability performance in certain gas separations compared with previous compositions known to the art. Methods for making and using the article described are also provided,
Method and Apparatus for Recovering C2-C4 Components in Methane-Containing Industrial Gas
A method for recovering C2 components in a methane-containing industrial gas includes the steps of (1) cooling a compressed methane-containing industrial gas and performing gas-liquid separation; (2) absorbing C2 components in the gas phase by using an absorbent to obtain an absorption rich liquid; (3) returning the absorption rich liquid to the compression in step (1) or mixing the absorption rich liquid with the liquid phase obtained in step (1) to obtain a mixed liquid, and depressurizing the mixed liquid or the absorption rich liquid; (4) performing methane desorption on the depressurized stream to obtain a rich absorbent, or performing second gas-liquid separation on the depressurized stream, followed by methane desorption on the second liquid phase to obtain a rich absorbent; and (5) desorbing and separating the rich absorbent to obtain a lean absorbent and an enriched gas, and recycling and reusing the lean absorbent.
Selective, adsorbate-induced spin state changes in transition metal-based metal-organic frameworks
An adsorbate-selective metal organic framework includes a transition metal; and a plurality of organic molecules coordinated to the transition metal so as to preserve open coordination sites for selectively adsorbing molecules that have low-lying π* orbitals. The transition metal has a lowest energy spin state in the presence of the selectively adsorbed molecules that are strongly bonding to the transition metal through π-donating interactions which is different than the lowest energy spin state in the absence of these adsorbed molecules. The transition metal has also a lowest energy spin state in the presence of non-selected molecules that are weakly bonding to the transition metal through σ- and/or π-accepting and/or donating interactions.
Method to make carbon molecular sieve hollow fiber membranes
A method of making a hollow fiber carbon molecular sieve is comprised of heating a hollow polymer fiber to a carbonization temperature in an atmosphere that is non-oxidizing to form a hollow fiber carbon molecular sieve, wherein during at least a portion of the heating a tensile force is applied to the hollow polymer fiber. The method may improve the separation of gases similar in size such a propylene from propane.
HUMIDIFICATION AND SELECTIVE PERMEATION MODULE
A humidification and selective permeation module in which humidification of a gaseous feed stream and selective permeation of components in the gaseous feed stream using a facilitated-transport membrane occurs within the same unit operation is disclosed. A process for separation of components in a gaseous feed stream using the humidification and permeation module combines continuous humidification of the feed stream and selective permeation using the facilitated-transport membrane.
RESERVOIR MANAGEMENT BY CONTROLLING ACID GAS BUILD-UP IN RESERVOIR BY PARTIAL CO2 REMOVAL PROCESSES
Methods are provided for reducing the quantity of acid gas reinjected into a reservoir by partial CO.sub.2 removal processes. The methods include acid gas removal, acid gas enrichment, generation of a CO.sub.2 rich stream and an H.sub.2S rich stream, and reinjection of the H.sub.2S rich stream into the reservoir. The acid gas enrichment can be performed by a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit, a membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit, or a combination of a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit a and membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit. The system includes an acid gas removal unit, one or more acid gas enrichment units, and an acid gas reinjection compressor. The acid gas enrichment unit can be a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit, a membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit, or a solvent-based acid gas enrichment unit and a membrane-based acid gas enrichment unit.

NATURAL GAS SYSTEM FOR ON-SITE PROCESSING
A natural gas processing system is mounted on a mobile platform that is transported to a natural gas source, such as a well. The system supplies retentate gas to operate multi-fuel engines for wellfield equipment such as pumps, compressors, and drills. A liquid drain discharges contaminants. A separator, first and second coalescing filters, and a particulate filter remove particulate matter and fluid contaminant matter from the natural gas. A dryer removes water vapor from the natural gas. Dual membranes separate the natural gas into a retentate gas and a permeate gas. A first heat exchanger adjusts temperature of the natural gas entering the membranes. A second heat exchanger adjusts temperature of the retentate gas output. A thermoelectric generator powered by the natural gas supplies process electricity. A process control monitors and controls the natural gas processing system, including pressure control valves, temperature control valves, and emergency shutdown systems. An instrument gas supply with an accumulator supplies gas pressure to operate pneumatic valves and instruments.
