CONTINUOUS PROCESS TO TREAT A HYDROGEN SULPHIDE COMPRISING GAS

The invention is directed to a continuous process to treat a hydrogen sulphide comprising gas comprising the following steps: (a) contacting the hydrogen sulphide comprising gas with an aqueous alkaline solution further comprising sulphide oxidising bacteria thereby obtaining a loaded aqueous solution comprising sulphide compounds and sulphide oxidising bacteria. (b) contacting the loaded aqueous solution with an oxygen comprising gas to regenerate the sulphide oxidising bacteria to obtain a liquid effluent comprising regenerated sulphide oxidising bacteria which is partly used as the aqueous alkaline solution in step (a). (c) separating elemental sulphur as prepared by the sulphide oxidising bacteria in steps (a) and (b) from the loaded aqueous solution of step (a) and/or from the liquid effluent of step (b) and wherein the consumption of oxygen in step (b) is measured and wherein the supply of oxygen in step (b) is controlled by the measured consumption of oxygen.

Iron sulphide scale removal from oil and gas wells using green formulation

New formulation for pyrite scale removal from oil and gas wells and a method of pyrite scale removal are disclosed. The chemical formulation is composed of K.sub.2B.sub.4O.sub.7-4H.sub.2O, in a concentration of about 9-20 wt. % of the composition, preferably about 14 wt. % of the composition. The new formulation has the ability to dissolve pyrite without generation of the toxic H.sub.2S. Furthermore, the new formulation is cheaper and has very low corrosion rate compare to 15 wt. % HCl with corrosion inhibitor. The disclose method uses the disclosed new formulation to dissolve iron sulphide scale, performed at about 100-150° C. and about 500-2000 psi.

Sulfur Trap

A sulfur trap provides separation of elemental molten sulfur from a process stream comprising a mixture of sulfur and associated tail-gases. The sulfur trap comprises a vertically-oriented cylindrical wall having a chamber for receiving the process stream, a float positioned in the chamber, the float attached to a float end of a lever, a nozzle insert attached to the distal end of the lever, and a lever fulcrum positioned intermediate the lever float end and the lever nozzle insert end. The float, lever, nozzle insert and outlet are constructed to allow the float position to control nozzle insert engagement of the outlet, particularly to close the outlet when the float is elevated by molten sulfur and to disengage from the outlet to allow discharge flow of liquid sulfur at a determined level of sulfur within the chamber. Embodiments of a method of separating liquid sulfur from gases are also provided.

REMOVAL OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE AND SULFUR RECOVERY FROM A GAS STREAM BY CATALYTIC DIRECT OXIDATION AND CLAUS REACTION
20180008930 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A process for the removal of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur recovery from a H.sub.2S-containing gas stream by catalytic direct oxidation and Claus reaction through two or more serially connected catalytic reactors, wherein a specific control of the oxygen supplement is operated. The control and improvement of the process is obtained by complementing, in each major step of the process, the H.sub.2S-containing gas stream by a suitable flow of oxygen, namely before the H.sub.2S-containing gas stream enters the Claus furnace, in the first reactor of the process and in the last reactor of the process. Especially in application in a SubDewPoint sulfur recovery process the H.sub.2S/SO.sub.2 ratio is kept constant also during switch-over of the reactors R1 and R by adding the last auxiliary oxygen containing gas directly upstream the last reactor R so that the H.sub.2S/SO.sub.2 ratio can follow the signal of the ADA within a few seconds.

GAS SEPARATION METHOD AND ZEOLITE MEMBRANE

A gas separation method includes supplying a mixed gas to a zeolite membrane complex and permeating a high permeability gas through the zeolite membrane complex to separate the high permeability gas from other gases. The mixed gas includes a high permeability gas and a trace gas that is lower in concentration than the high permeability gas. The trace gas contains an organic substance whose molar concentration in the mixed gas is higher than or equal to 1.0 mol %. The adsorption equilibrium constant of the organic substance on the zeolite membrane is less than 150 times the adsorption equilibrium constant of the high permeability gas.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ONLINE GAS ANALYTICAL PRESSURE-SWING ADSORPTION (PSA) CONTROL FOR LANDFILL OR BIOGAS SEPARATION

A system and method for recovering high-quality biomethane (RNG) from biogas sources are provided. The system and method improve upon conventional practices and yield a biomethane product which meets strict gas pipeline quality specifications. An online sample is captured of a gas stream in near real-time at a pressure swing adsorption vessel, and the online sample is analyzed to detect the presence of one or more targeted products such as CH.sub.4, CO.sub.2 or N.sub.2.
