Air filter adapter
Present embodiments relate to an air filter adapter for use with open style engine air filters. More particularly, but without limitation, present embodiments relate to a filter adapter having a hydrocarbon trap positioned within the adapter.
AIR FILTERING ASSEMBLY FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE
An air filter system for a motor vehicle includes a common housing, first and second D-shaped filter elements and a common cover. The common housing defines a first airflow chamber extending between a first inlet duct and a first outlet duct and a second airflow chamber extending between a second inlet duct and a second outlet duct. The first airflow chamber is fluidly separated from the second airflow chamber. The first D-shaped filter element is disposed in the first airflow chamber for filtering air passing through the first airflow chamber. The second D-shaped filter element is disposed in the second airflow chamber for filtering air passing through the second airflow chamber. The common cover is secured to the housing and closes the first airflow chamber and the second airflow chamber.
Self-Cleaning Air Filter System
A method of operating a cleaning process on a filter in a vehicle air intake includes passing air through the filter from an upstream side to a downstream side, and providing an exhaust duct having an inlet end adjacent the upstream side of the filter and an outlet end adjacent a cooling fan or other air-extraction device of the vehicle arranged to draw air through the exhaust duct from the inlet end to the outlet end. In a periodic cleaning subroutine, the rotational speed of the fan is increased from a first speed to a second speed, while a pulse of pressurized fluid is applied to a downstream side of the filter. The exhaust duct carries away material dislodged from the upstream side of the filter by the applied pulse, and the rotational speed of the fan is reduced to its original level.
INLET FILTER HOUSING HAVING COMPONENTS INCLUDING PORTIONS OF FILTER SYSTEM THAT COLLECTIVELY FORM HOUSING
An inlet filter housing includes a plurality of components that collectively form a complete filtering and conditioning system for filtering and conditioning a fluid along a housing flow path. Each component is fitted within an external structure of an International Organization of Standards (ISO) shipping container, which provides a rectangular cuboid enclosure. Each component includes operative structure of at least one of: a) only a portion of an axial extent of the filtering and conditioning system, and b) only a portion of a lateral cross-sectional area of the housing flow path.
Filter Element and Filter System
A filter element has a filter medium arranged between first and second end disks. The first end disk has a positioning and sealing section having external positioning recesses for engaging disturbance geometries of a filter housing with form fit to position the filter element circumferentially in the filter housing. The positioning and sealing section has an inner interface for radially sealing and axially positioning the filter element relative to the filter housing. The interface, viewed along a longitudinal direction from first toward second end disk, extends farther into the positioning and sealing section than the positioning recesses. The interface has an annular seal groove surrounding a symmetry axis of the filter element and configured to engage a seal rib of the filter housing with form fit for axial positioning relative to the filter housing. A filter system is provided with such a filter element in its filter housing.
INTEGRATED SERVICE COVER AND FILTER ELEMENT UTILIZING BAYONET FEATURE FOR ALIGNMENT
A filter assembly includes a housing, a cover, and a filter element. The housing defines a pocket. The cover includes a bayonet sized to be received within the pocket. The bayonet defines an elongated opening. The filter element is sized to be received within the housing. The filter element includes a media pack and a filter shell coupled to the media pack. The filter shell includes a trunnion that is sized to be received within both the pocket and the elongated opening to interlock the cover and the filter element such that removal of the cover from the housing initiates removal of the filter element.
WIRE SCREEN PARTICLE FILTER FOR TURBOMACHINE AIRFOIL
A filter for an airfoil of a vane of a turbomachine is disclosed. The filter includes a mounting member for mounting to an endwall of the vane. The mounting member has a first flow exit opening defined therethrough for fluid communication with a cooling circuit of the airfoil. A screen frame is coupled to the mounting member to support a wire screen around the first flow exit opening, and a first wire screen is positioned over the screen frame. The screen frame has an exterior shape supporting the wire screen in a manner incapable of having a horizontal surface regardless of a circumferential position of the airfoil around an axis of the turbomachine. A related turbine vane and turbine system are also provided.
AIR PRE-CLEANER SPIN TUBE
An air pre-cleaner spin tube includes a vaned inlet section including an inlet flange, and an outer tube inlet portion including an outer wall forming a nozzle that defines a radial direction, and a longitudinal axis. Also, a central stem is disposed in the nozzle, and a plurality of vanes extends from the central stem to the outer wall.
Twist-interlocking Engine Housing and Air Filter and Method
A Twist-interlocking Engine Housing and Air Filter System and Method is disclosed. The filter assembly provides unequaled ease of installation and removal, as well as superior sealing between the housing and the filter assembly. For installation, the user needs only to insert the filter into the housing and then give the filter assembly a one-quarter turn or less to lock the filter assembly into the housing. There are features within the filter base that snap-locks the filter in place to resist inadvertent loosening. Finally, the housing and filter are designed so that the outer flange of the filter base is recessed into the side of the housing in order to prevent the intrusion of unwanted grime and/or fluids.
FILTER MEDIUM FOR AIR FILTER, FILTER PACK, AIR FILTER UNIT, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING FILTER MEDIUM FOR AIR FILTER
A filter medium includes first and second porous films mainly containing fluororesin, and a pre-collection member upstream of the first film. The second film is downstream of the first film. The pre-collection member has a pressure drop when air is passed through at a flow rate of 5.3 cm/s of between 15 Pa and 55 Pa, a collection efficiency of NaCl particles having a particle diameter of 0.3 μm when air containing the particles is passed hrough at a flow rate of 5.3 cm/s of between 25% and 80%, a thickness of 0.4 mm or less, and a PF value between 7 and 15. The PF value={−log((100−collection efficiency (%))/100)}/(pressure drop (Pa)/1000). A ratio of the PF value of the pre-collection member to the PF value when the first and second films are overlapped, is between 0.20 and 0.45. The filter medium can be used in a filter pack or filter unit, and may be produced by integrating the first and second films and the pre-collection member using heat lamination.
