Wind and wave desalination vessel

The present invention provides a novel floating and renewable energy-powered desalination vessel, which also functions as a wind turbine generator and wave energy generator platform. With energy derived from the wind and waves, the vessel performs reverse osmosis within a vertically positioned cylindrical section extending below a buoyancy chamber. The cylindrical section contains reverse osmosis membranes located above a seawater screening and filtration system, which serve as ballast. The entire vessel and power systems are configured to have the center of mass below the center of buoyancy, forming a vertically stable floating structure with minimum pitch, roll, and wave heave in high sea states. The electric power generated is utilized internally to produce desalinated water or hydrogen from the desalinated water's electrolysis, power an onboard data center, or power delivery to a shoreside power grid. In addition to a wind turbine generator and a wave energy generator, a photovoltaic array or a marine current generator may be utilized to power these applications. Alternatively, the desalination vessel operates with the assistance of shore-based power provided by cable.

The present invention relates to shallow water subsea desalination system with a subsea desalination template (20) located on a seabed. A retrievable subsea RO-module (4) is located in a subsea RO-module zone (23) of the subsea desalination template (20) and is connected to a RO-module connection. A seawater booster pump assembly (1) includes a seawater inlet (7) and an outlet in fluid connection with a seawater inlet side of the RO-cartridge assembly. A retrievable subsea booster module (2) includes the seawater booster pump assembly (1). A pressure regulator (11) is in fluid connection with a retentate side of the least one retrievable subsea RO-module (4).

Detonator positioning device

A detonator positioning device for use with a detonator in a perforating gun assembly is described. The detonator positioning device is configured for electrically contactably forming an electrical connection within the perforating gun housing by contact. The detonator positioning device includes a body having a first end, a second end, and a central bore extending between the first and second ends. The central bore is adapted for receiving one or more electrically contactable components of a detonator. The detonator positioning device aligns at least one of the one or more electrically contactable components to form an electrical connection with a bulkhead assembly.

PROCESS AND SYSTEM FOR PURIFICATION OF CITRIC ACID

Citric acid is purified to remove metal ions through a two-step filtration process. A first filter is used to perform a first filtration, then a second filter is used to perform a second filtration on citric acid solution that has been subject to the first filtration. The first and second filters can include the same filter membrane material. The filter used as the first filter can be a relatively dirtier, more loaded filter compared to the filter used as the second filter. The first filtration can be performed over four hours of recirculating the citric acid solution through the first filter, and the second filtration can be performed over approximately two and one half hours of recirculating the citric acid solution through the second filter. Such a purification process can remove calcium and magnesium ions to render citric acid suitable as a cleaning solution in semiconductor processing.

Silicon carbide flat sheet filtration membranes are supported on one piece manifold/end cap structures. Ends of a large number of the parallel flat plate membranes are fitted into elongated end cap slots that are part of a single molded manifold/end cap structure, such a structure being at each end of the series of membranes. In addition, a one piece external frame module can be provided to receive the gang of flat plate membranes with attached manifold/end caps. In the event of a damaged plate, the plate can be removed and replaced along with a special end cap repair section. This provides advantages over prior arrangements with individual end caps for each module or potting of the flat plates into a box or chamber.

A blood processing apparatus includes a housing, a shell, a fiber bundle, and an elastic tube. The housing has a blood inlet and a blood outlet and the shell is situated in the housing and configured to receive blood through the blood inlet. The shell includes a surface and one or more apertures extending through the surface to permit the blood to flow to an exterior of the shell. The fiber bundle includes gas exchanger hollow fibers situated about the shell such that gas flows through and the blood flows across the gas exchanger hollow fibers. The elastic tube includes a fiber web situated about the fiber bundle and configured to elastically constrain and protect the gas exchanger hollow fibers during the insertion into the housing. The fiber web has a pore size that permits the blood to flow across the fiber web without filtering micro-emboli from the blood.

A hollow-fiber membrane module according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a rectangular tubular outer casing with at least one sidewall being open, the outer casing having a plurality of open ports, and an inner casing configured such that a plurality of hollow-fiber membranes aligned in a longitudinal direction of the outer casing are placeable in the inner casing and configured to be insertable into the one sidewall.
