DETECTION CHIP, METHOD FOR OPERATING DETECTION CHIP, AND REACTION SYSTEM
A detection chip, a method for operating a detection chip, and a reaction system are disclosed. The detection chip includes a first substrate, a micro-cavity defining layer, a hydrophilic layer, and a hydrophobic layer. The micro-cavity defining layer is on the first substrate and defines a plurality of micro-reaction chambers. Each of the plurality of micro-reaction chambers includes a reaction trap, and the reaction trap includes a sidewall and a bottom. The micro-cavity defining layer includes a spacing region between the plurality of micro-reaction chambers, and the spacing region includes a first region adjacent to the sidewall, and a second region non-adjacent to the sidewall. The hydrophilic layer covers the sidewall and the bottom of each of the plurality of micro-reaction chambers, and the hydrophobic layer covers the second region.
Apparatus and Methods for Piercing a Centrifuge Tube
A fixture for facilitating a piercing of a centrifuge tube is disclosed. The centrifuge tube includes a bottom portion and a sidewall extending from the bottom portion. The fixture includes a frame having a base and an elongated member. The elongated member extends substantially perpendicularly to the base and is configured to support the bottom portion of the centrifuge tube. Also, the elongated member defines a bore for receiving a needle for piercing the bottom portion of the centrifuge tube. Further, the fixture includes a plate engaged with the frame and disposed spaced apart from the base and substantially parallel to the base. The plate defines an opening disposed coaxially with the bore for receiving and supporting the centrifuge tube.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR THERMALLY CONTROLLING A CHEMICAL REACTION IN DROPLETS
Methods and systems for thermally controlling a chemical reaction in droplets. In an exemplary method, a first thermal zone and a second thermal zone having different temperatures from one another may be created in a reaction chamber. An emulsion including droplets encapsulated by a carrier fluid may be held in the reaction chamber. The droplets may have a density mismatch with the carrier fluid, and each droplet may include one or more reactants for the chemical reaction. An orientation of the reaction chamber may be changed to move the droplets from the first thermal zone to the second thermal zone, such that a rate of the chemical reaction changes in at least a subset of the droplets.
SELECTIVE DELIVERY OF MATERIAL TO CELLS
Isolating or identifying a cell based on a physical property of said cell can include providing a cell suspension; passing said suspension through a microfluidic channel that includes a constriction; passing the cell suspension through the constriction; and, contacting said cell suspension solution with a compound. The constriction can be sized to preferentially deform a relatively larger cell compared to a relatively smaller cell.
Collection and storage apparatus
This invention relates to an evidence collection and storage apparatus for use in forensic examination and sample collection processes. The apparatus consists of a container and a swab, the swab including a handle portion, shaft portion and a removable head portion, wherein the container includes a cavity adapted to store an object or substance, a lid including a portion of nanomesh and a swab head portion removing means that engages the head portion of the swab within the cavity, enabling the head portion of the swab to be removed or partially removed from the shaft portion of the swab and stored in the container.
REACTION VESSEL FOR TESTING
A reaction vessel for testing includes a reaction cup, a sample holder and a cover. The sample holder is contained in the reaction cup and/or the cover. The reaction cup has a first cavity, and the sample holder has a collection portion. The cover is for covering an opening of the first cavity. A packaging bag and a piercing member are contained in the reaction cup and/or the cover; the packaging bag has a second cavity for receiving external second reagent and a diaphragm for covering an opening of the second cavity; the piercing member is for piercing the diaphragm in order to mix a second reagent with a first reagent and a test sample. The reagent used for testing can be prepared according to the required time and sequence and reacted with the test sample.
AUTOMATED SLIDE PROCESSING SYSTEMS, CONSUMABLE STAINER UNITS, AND RELATED TECHNOLOGIES
Systems and methods that enable automated processing of specimens carried on microscope slides are described herein. Aspects of the technology are directed, for example, to an automated staining system that includes an instrument including an end effector and a stainer unit-receiving station that receives a stainer unit such that the end effector delivers reagent from the reagent reservoirs to a reaction chamber of the slide stainer unit. The stainer unit can carry fresh reagents, waste material, and components used to handle the reagents.
FLUID DEVICE
A fluidic device that can stably supply a solution from a reservoir without causing bubbles to precede a solution is provided. The fluidic device includes a flow path into which a solution is introduced and a reservoir in which the solution is accommodated and which supplies the solution to the flow path. A length of the reservoir in a direction in which the solution flows toward the flow path is greater than a width perpendicular to the length. A width and a depth of the reservoir are formed in a size based on a capillary length which is calculated on the basis of a surface tension and a density of the solution and acceleration which includes gravity and which is applied to the solution.
